Glad you like them, get some build/install pics!

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=165 This will let you do the math yourself to hopefully get the most accurate results. good luck.

Well, I've had the same experience with everything I've ever used. I decided math must prevail over those calculators. Someone (can't remember who, but thanks) recommended this site: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=165 Try punching in the values and do it on paper, see what you get. Good luck, let us know if you do the math how it turns out.

That's some wavy sheet metal! I don't know if you can see in between the two sheets of metal at the rear of the vehicle, but chevy literally puts small strips of expanding foam (great stuff) between the sheets. I'm a chevy fan, but gawd. Didn't really see the subs/amps, what all is in there? Nice flexing no matter what.

Any certain options i should choose? Any reccomendations on the size of the woofer with the amount of room i have? Will the 1000+ be plenty to get the BL going? Birthsheer on the amp says 1332 It should be plenty to get good sound from it. Were you going with a sealed or ported box? Was that 4 ft gross or net (taking the box into account)?

The 2006d I had worked pretty well, but from experience I can say you might consider another amp. It should still get loud, but there is better out there, and sometimes it's worth saving/wating a bit.

two different subwoofer wave cancellation true??
tejcurrent replied to caddyon20s's topic in General Fi
Don't do it. It looks ghetto and while it CAN help sometimes (because I have tried it multiple times myself just to see first hand what would happen), but more often than not it will be softer instead of louder, and sound crappy. ^^^ everyone else has said what they have for a reason, they do know what they're talking about. -
3 ohms... sundown/kicker 1500 or 1000. What made you decide to get the jbl? The 5000 peak really wont mean much...

Thank you, I forgot where a link to a good diagram was, and that was definitely basic

That amp is 2 ohm stable from what I understand. You have your sub wired + to + and - to -, which means your dual 1 sub is running at 1/2 an ohm on a 2ohm stable amp. If you run a + wire from your amp to one terminal on the sub, and a - from the amp to the - terminal, then connect the remaining + and - terminal with a short piece of wire you'll be running that sub at 2 ohms, which is correct for that amp. That should fix it for you, unless I'm misreading your sketch. Best of luck. I think that below should give you an idea of what I mean. the > means connect those terminals with a short piece of wire. _____ |amp |+ ------------ + Sub +> |amp | - ------------ - Sub -

I sat a triplestacked btl on the kitchen counter to work on it for about 1/2 an hour (I'm slow). It was about 1 foot from the kitchen tv, and a few hours later when I turned it on, it was just as you described. It took a day or so for it to go away, but it should be okay in the long run. These other guys have some good suggestions if it's really annoying you.

Why won't ****** sponsor me when i do local comps

If I had built 3026 enclosures that would mean one different one every day since I was a freshman in highschool Gotta save the prn collection though. I admire your ambition sir. -
Yes, you should upgrade your alternator and atleast the factory battery, if not adding a 2nd battery. This will help keep your voltage where you need it. Because of the way some things are recorded I wouldn't combine channels from your h/u, I would just add a 2 channel amp to run your front stage. What's the budget for the 2000w amp?

http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/Orion_8002/ Orion 8002 ← home Output Power at 13.8V: 2 x 200W @ 4 ohms (0.05% THD) 2 x 400W @ 2 ohms (0.1% THD) 1 x 800W @ 4 ohms bridge (0.1% THD) Fuse: 100A Argument over. This was originally a thread about improving your score, so why argue? fighting online drives off the experienced members with enough sense not to get involved, instead of encouraging them to help. You're underpowering your btl at around 1/2 its rms, hands down, and you should be happy with the score you got with the fact you've done no testing.

Install dependant. Plus this is the fi forum, I'd try sq and spl for more answers.

^^Agree. I'd say it's a double negative. When I was about 13/14 I had to stay with my uncle- who's a farmer (raises cows, grows crops, drives a tractor, etc.). With NO teeth. Who doesn't like to wear his dentures and he's over 70 with diabetes and high blood pressure (point is he slurs his speech really bad and doesn't speak up much). He said to me 'boy, get yoself a knife from outin' the shed and cut-yoself some oaktree.' I made him repeat it several times before I just went and got a knife and followed him thinking 'he wants me to get a knife and cut an oak tree? Damn he's crazy- and I have to stay with him!' I found out oaktree means oakra, so there was no paul bunyan stuff going on

email received, thanks a lot. You should be hearing from me soon

I figured I could meter the subs as-is in the new vehicle with the old boxes, then see what difference the over-sized box would make with how they meter, and how they sound on music. And again the difference meter wise and sound wise with around 5ft each, and see how they sound. I was thinking that 250 prize money would be a great discount towards a BTL, and I could throw in a bit more for a second BTL to make an even number, since 3 subs has always felt a little awkward to me. (and the theoretical 3dbs didn't sound as nice as 6). I would've already bought the two more subs if I wasn't running into a problem with the amps. I will be getting two more amps, but I really want to find some discounted/used ones to help the budget. I've seen several people selling two for the price of one new, ~600 each, I just want to find someone within 500 miles so I can pick them up to prevent getting scammed again My ultimate goal is 4 btls with 4 amps, tuned low for a great daily 155db+ on music vehicle. Thanks for your input. I was wondering also, should I order from you through email because of the prize, or just go through paypal as normal? I emailed you before, but it was around the time you went on vacation and I know you've lost a lot to the spam filters. If you prefered email, my address is [email protected]. Thanks again.

What kind of car was that in? What kind of amp? What does your voltage look like when playing music/burping? Hows the bracing in your box? The first thing I noticed was how much power you're giving it. All things the same, giving it a good 2000 watts should easily help you break 140. I didn't realize how much power these things really need to get moving good, so I'd try that. If that's not an option, then why not post a few pics of the setup to help everyone get an idea? Often times just testing different things many times will be the only way to find out what will work best for you. More port area often = higher score, but again there's no way to say that will automatically be correct for you.

That's on the small side for a 15, and large for a 12. if that's off of a sundown 1500 like your sig, then I'd say 2 ssd 15s. How much power will determine which sub to go with though.
-
How's your voltage holding up?
-
If you buy a second amp then you'll be running it at a higher impedence (2subs=1ohm, 1sub=2ohm, etc.) and so you'll have to have to get new vc to match. (if universal option) or new subs. Only experimentation can tell you what configuration of port/sub will be best, but I had good luck with crx style.

There is a show at In Motion in Sumter tomorrow. Check out www.competitiononly.com Eh, I have to work. Trying to sell that yukon I had at the show, it took hours to get all of the wires/batteries/amps out, but I'm finished and need to put a few panels back. I don't have any equipment in the new tahoe yet, so there's really no point in going. I'm trying to get a good price on 2 250a+ alternators, and get some new wire so everything looks cleaner in the new install. I measured the rear area today, and it's MUCH easier to get 20ft below the window line, but I think I might go up to the top of the seats instead. I'm thinking I'm going to give the 2 btls I have a little over 20ft, then all I'll have to do is cut out 2 holes for the extra 2 later. Hope to have everything done in about 2 weeks with the way work is- I'm really busy lately, a lot of 8 or 9 am till 11+pm doesn't leave much time . Anyway, 143 @ 30 is very respectable, great job. Hope to hear it the next time I can get up that way, and maybe I can get some time on that t/l of yours? Are you going to that show tomarrow- incase maybe I can make it there towards the end?

I saw you at the timmonsville show right? (guy with older yukon and 2 btls) great job on the build either way.
