You waited less than 5 minutes between posts?! ....................... I doubt you'll tell a difference in 3 sq of port, but I'd go with the larger one if possible. The size of the port will very depending on the box you go with anyway, I'd just go right down the center of the recommendations- and if you aren't happy with that try again.

I think you'll have a problem. I would leave atleast 10" of depth for the sub, and that doesn't seem to be enough. I could be wrong because its hard to tell looking at the drawing, but why not shift the sub more towards the top- with a less severe angle? Where's the port in all this too? Top/side/etc?

That would seem to be enough port area (max recommended for that airspace is about 56sqin), but that box is on the small side. I would give them more air than that, but you could always try it with the thought that you still should build a bigger one. It will give you an increase in output, but it will sound pretty different from the sealed box you currently have.

yeah. 1 coil per amp, 1 ohm coils...

LOL. ^That right there lol. I see the point jimj is making- that the btls are not meant for sq, so therefor your whole setup will not sound good anyway. You will probably need multiple sets of midrange drivers to 'keep up', which also sends sq out the window. That doesn't mean you should give up on it imo though. Your best bet is to go to all your local shops and just listen to what they have there. You'll be hard pressed to find something that will keep up, so good luck.

"right now i have a soundstream pca 2000d. i was thinking that if each sub rms @ 800 watts a piece then i could put 1000 watts to each sub and it would be ok. sholud i get the options or not." I would only get the options if you plan on upgrading your amp to something putting out over 3000 watts. With that amp though you wont be giving them 1k each- more like 500 each, so you would not need options. They are nice to have when upgrading though, but for now wouldn't help anything.

Congratulations to everyone!

I'd just get a btl and be done with it. If you want a hard-hitting sub that gets loud, but aren't really going for an sq setup (which is pretty obvious you aren't ) I'd get it. I was pretty worried about the sq of the BTL when I bought my first one, but after hearing it I was very pleased.

That's awesome when things work out like that, congrats.

Sort of makes me wish I lived a few hours south!

Looks great, awesome score- it looked like that was on music? I know you had kicker amps at one point, did you switch to RF? I'm truly envious, looks like it's just crazy loud.
-
There are a few threads if you search that discuss not only power but possible amp choices. Good luck!

Great looking build, looks loud to say the least!

Took mine about 1 business week, even on SBN weekend. You should get an email with tracking info.

I couldn't tell, what song was that 152.3 on? Thanks. Really impressive- great work.

Welcome, can't wait to see the build!

Great review. I agree with you on the basket btw.

What kind of amp is putting out that 1k? If you could give it more air to breath I would, and what tuning? Other than space it sounds pretty good.
-
Congrats, like you said about more power your score will only go up. PICS! Great job btw.

Thanks! I want to say it was at the dash, but the guys who ran the thing were placing it different places different times. It COULD have been in the kick on that one. I know when I was sitting in the car playing with it before running I hit 152.6 on the dash. Opening the door made a huge difference though- I did 152.7 sealed at a volume of 25, that 152.7 in the pic was at a volume of 21/22 with the door open- so there's some room to play (I was breaking 140 at a volume of 20 sealed up). My alternator is starting to go now, and unfortunately I don't have the cash to dump into my electrical system yet. I might have to just get one 260 to hold me over for a bit till I can get the others- maybe a 2 bracket and keep the factory in there too for now... Can anyone tell me if those MCD4KW amps will take 16v for daily use? I'd love to go to a 16v setup, but I don't know if I'll have to worry about damaging the amps. Thanks.
