The BLs are great on the low end. Whoever said otherwise must've either had install problems, or heard a setup with install problems. All things equal the BLs should be a bit louder and save you some major electrical upgrades. Or you could give your BTL more power and do some overhauling on your charging system...

That's a serious jump in cone area! Can't wait to see it I might have to drive down to florida to see that!

I thought I replied already? Hm, anyway, no I didn't. I had over $1k in taxes I didn't expect suck up a lot of alternator money. I will get one by the end of the month, and hopefully the other 3 by feb. I had a memphis 4k go out on me this week (nothing I did that I can tell, but I guess I'll find out). So that'll take up alt money to get fixed too While removing the amp I decided to finish the box. I'm going to have the top painted and vinyl the box itself to match the vehicle. Add a few more coats of 'glass inside and drop the tuning from 36 (34 in car) to about 33 (31 in car). I'm hoping to get some better hair tricks out of dropping the tuning, even if I lose a bit on the meter.

I have a friend with an s-10 who has said numerous times how much louder his 10s wer in his truck then his current 2-12 setup. If space is really limited I'd much rather have two nice ported 10s than 2 cramped sealed 12s.

Hope this is the right section. Anyone in the Myrtle Beach/Conway area we are having a metering session Dec 8 at Carolina Audio in Conway. Call 843-455-9121 for info/directions. It's not a show or competition per-say because we won't have trophies or classes, and it's not really a show because there's no forms to fill out etc. Just stop by if you want to get metered on a Termlab for a good price. I hope I posted this in the right place because it was originally meant to be a competition, but we didn't get things really together in time and it's just not going to be big enough to have classes or trophies. Should be fun though, and get a nice offical T/L score without the long drive elsewhere.

In your situation space would be the deciding factor. If you have room get the 15

What kind of amp you plan on running makes all the difference. Also the amount you plan on putting into your electrical upgrades. The enclosure will make a huge difference as to how it souds.

^Agreed. I have just over 5 per sub after all displacement and I couldn't be happier.
-
^yeah lol. Honestly it's pretty obvious compared to the others in reality, pictures on line make it difficult to compare.

Ever wonder Why Fi has ther subs names like they do?
tejcurrent replied to Godsmack's topic in General Fi
So not right.. lol I'm pretty curious as to all the names. I know BTL= Built to Last but after that I don't have a clue -
Amazing as always. That's rediculous flexing on that window- those extra alternators really seem to make a difference even on camera!
-
They should be fine. My brothers BL handles a bxi2006d without any problems. If it's a bit too much simply turn down the amp. Should be an awesome combo.
-
Congrats! It looks great.

Did you have a set spending limit? 1 15" BL powered with a sundown 1500 would be a great combo without really breaking the bank. In the right enclosure I'd take the BL over the W7 all around.
-
I'd go with the 15s. I was listening to 3 sealed 10s in the back of a jimmy today, and I'd rather have 1 good 15 or 18. It really made me appreciate my subs.

I need ideas for a badass bass race system
tejcurrent replied to soundmekanixdan's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
What is your budget looking like? A few larger subs would be less expensive. What about 18" SSDs? How much power do you have on tap, or what would your charging system look like? -
Look in the Fi Car audio section of the forum for details, or you can email [email protected]. (i'd find and post the link but my laptop battery is about to die- I will tonight for you if I can though).

I would not get that Quantum amp. A local shop started selling them, and I'd have to say they're very misleading (and not putting out rated power). The BLs and the Sundown 1000s sound like a great combo. Too bad with the other vehicle, but now you can build a large enough box

4 Q's with 6000 watts at 1 ohm vs. 4 Q's with 4000 watts at 2
tejcurrent replied to keith77's topic in Fi Technical
If you don't have the proper voltage you can damage your equipment. I would get a good alternator, and atleast 2-3 nice batteries. Not bracing properly can cause your box to flex. I watched a wall with 8 10s that was only 1 layer thick with no bracing flex more than the subs were moving- and that's a bad thing. There's a chance it can weaken the mdf/joints if it flexes bad enough, but you're losing dbs and sq. -
Good things come in time right? I know it always feels like forever, but normally I've gotten things in 1-2 weeks (about 10 business days). Its a custom thing just to build it, so it's worth it.

In the right enclosure, with that same amp the Q should be louder because of the size difference. A good enclosure can make all the difference. The SQ on the Q should be better as well. On that power the Q would be my choice.
-
>bites tough on short bus jokes< That would be such a kick ass vehicle to put a ton of equipment in I'd go with the Q's over the BLs for the T-line for the reasons JimJ already said.

He no longer has that setup with the 4 18s. I don't want to touch that comment with a 10ft pole other than to say that.
-
I use BTLs and have heard no slap at all. They simply sound great, and take a beating. Good luck.

Great job at the comp, it looks very clean.
