    How low 2 Dcons 10"

Sounds good to me!! I must gather a few bucks to buy mdf, jigsaw, glue, screws and more and start messing with wood. I never made a sub box in my life, never work on wood, but its a matter of time because I want to learn. So thats my plan for 2012, make a box for those sweet looking Dcons ...thanks guys!!
  2. How low can two 10" Dcons go?? I wanna make a ported box tune to 30hz but I listen to a lot of hip hop, dnb and dubstep. So, I want them to hit low, to vibrate my car pretty good(94 Corolla sedan). The power is 500w rms.
  3. I would shrink that box down a little if you can. 2 cubes is the Max sealed recommended box size for the li 15. With that being said , since you only have 500 rms, its not going to hurt if the box is slightly bigger than recommended size.....just reduce it by half a cube or so and it will be fine. Thanks man!!
  4. Hey IA2, I got a similar question. Do you think a 2.7 cuft sealed box is way to big for a Lethal 15" with a Crossfire VR401(500wrms)?

    15" DCON

I have a 2.7 cu.ft sealed box and I looking to buy a Alpine m500 mono amp(500w rms). Good choice for a 15" DCON, or too much power and little or too much box volume? No ported cause I don't have enough space.

    15" DCON

    Thanks!! :-)
  7. My car is a 1994 Corolla. I did this today: I ground my head unit to the battery and at high volumes the hu display dimmed. I take it out and ground it to the metal in the engine compartment and the dimming stop. My amp is grounded to the chasis. Is a low powering system but the fuse rating of my amp is 60amp with an alternator of 70amp. I want it to reduce the voltage drop in a simple and cheap way because is a cheap sound system. No need to replace my alt nor adding a second battery, worhtless. Thas why I bring this topic, thanks to all of you :-)
  8. If I have one battery, is a good or bad idea to run the negative cable from the amp to the battery? Did the chasis have more resistance than, let say, 14ft of 4 gauge cable? I'm asking that because I read that grounding the amplifier at the battery minimize voltage drop, don't know if that is true.

I heard that IA discontinued the 187 line. Its that true?

    RF or RE??

Do you guys considered the new 2011 RF P2D4 15" an overall better sub than the RE SRX 15" sub? The SRX has more linear excursion 18mm vs 12. I cannot find the Mms of either sub. The Bl of the SRX is 14 vs unknow. SPL is 87db for the SRX vs 86db. The Sd is 810 vs 894. My concern is that a sub with that much Xmax(RE) could sound louder than a sub with just 12mm but with almost 900 of Sd?? Also, the cone material of the subs: RE is Kraft pulp and the RF is Kevlar. If Kevlar is a bullet proof material is going to be a lil heavy than Kraft pulp, right? Thas why the RF Xmax is only 12mm?? It seems to me that the RF guys put a lot of technology in their new subs. The RE seems to be a straight up sub, nothing technological, just a simple sub. But I know that heat plays a big role in speakers preformance. In that regard, the RF is more ahead than the RE. In general, which of those subs would sound louder or better in my aplication: 94 Corolla, Sounstream Rubicon 400 a/b class, 4ga cable, and subs in a slot ported box, tune high 30s. I'm going single 15".
  11. I'm been looking for a 1 15" sub dvc 4 ohms that require a small ported box. My ported box is well constructed and I don't want it to throw it away. Is a 2.89cu.ft .75 Birch slot ported. I only have 400w rms for it. Any suggestions?

    Looking for a 15" sub

In that case I guess an SA-15 would be your best bet. They perform well in small enclosures. I'm not sure what your goals are for the system, but they may work. Sorry to have potentially misled you. Don't worry. Thanks!

    Looking for a 15" sub

Luke.H....my space is limited. Don't have enough money to make one, nor the tools and skills. What about the RE Srx sub?? Seems to be in my range $$$ but is close to be the entry level.

    Looking for a 15" sub

There are some subs brands that recomend from 2.5 to 3.5 cuft....I'm in than range

    187 replacement

I have a 2.89cu ft ported box tune to 38hz and I'm waiting to see if that box is good for the 187 but if the 15" is no longer to be sell I may have to look at another brand.

    187 replacement

I was told that the 15" 187 series is going to be discontinued, because the most selling sizes are 10s and 12s. True or false??
  18. My 15" Mmats p2.0 is making a wierd noise from the dust cap. I don't even know how to described, but when I push down a little bit, at low volumes of course, the noise goes away. I let it go, and the noise came back. Any input?
  19. Cygnus

    Wierd noise from dust cap

The cap is glue, no signs of coming off. The noise still present. Dunno what happen
  20. Cygnus

    Wierd noise from dust cap

Oh, ok. It seems to me that is well glue but I'm going to do that, thanks!
  21. Cygnus

    Wierd noise from dust cap

The noise is at very low volumes, and of course it sound louder when I turn it up. If I bottoming out the sub time ago, what happen with the sub?
  22. Cygnus

    RF or RE??

RF said that the cone material is Kevlar fiber reinforced paper cone. Paper cone.....something is keeping the sub with just 12mm of xmax. Because if the cone is paper with some strong fibers, why dosen't move that much?? Could the Bl plays a big role in why is this happening?

    187 replacement

Nooo, he want me to buy the next series, LI. Or, to wait at least one month. I told him if the new line of subwoofers that is going to "replaced" the 187 are so much different that the 187 it self, I'm not going to buy it. He must give me my money back for the "order" of the 187. I pay $75 in advanced.
