  1. I have an AudioQue 1200 running my single fully loaded 10" FI Q. Wednesday omw to school, my amp cut out. I took the inline fuse out (which looked perfectly fine) and replaced it (i use 100A fuses). Thankfully my amp started working again. Thursday omw to school same thing happened. my amp cut out. This fuse was definitely blown. I immediatly ordered a circuit breaker because I was tired of replacing the fuses (the audio shop where i got the stuff installed at charges me $5 for a fuse). I went to Advanced Auto Parts store and bought a 50A fuse hoping it will hold me untill i get my circuit breaker. When i put the fuse in the fuse holder, the power light on the bass remote came on quick then dimmed out (off). I then started something smell like electrical burning so i immediately took the fuse out. Saturday I put in the circuit breaker and the amp still doesnt turn on. I am getting 12+ volts at the battery AND the amp but it wont turn on. I smelled the burning smell again but not as strong as the first time when i had the 50A fuse in. I tried to be as descriptive as possible. What could be wrong??? Thanks -Mike
  2. Thanks for all your help everybody!!! Hopefully Audioque will just fix it or send me a new amp.
  3. Yep, i called audioque, they finally picked up...and i sent it in right away on wednesday.
  4. can the inline fuse blow from running the amp hard/max continuously?
  5. I usually ran 100A fuses before (they didnt say a voltage, im assuming 12 volts tho). I blew two 100A fuses within basiically 24 hours. omw to school on tuesday, and omw to school wednesday. I ordered a circuit breaker wednesday when i got to school. Then I bought the 50A 32V fuse (it was the highest Amp rating i could find) at Advanced Auto Parts on friday hoping it will just hold me till my circuit breaker came in the mail. I only realized yesterday afternoon that the fuse was 32V.
  6. The fuses look perfectly fine in the amp. The rest of the car is stock.
  7. For the past 2 months I have been running my amp without the bass remote.
  8. do u know what could have caused this? Can it be that I was running the amp too hard? Or the 50A 32V inline fuse that i put in?
  9. Is it possible that this is covered by warranty?
  10. Okay, I opened up the amp and all i see is the board is a little dark/burned. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Is this fixable? will i need a new amp?? Is this definitly why it is not turning on? Or can it still be something else? Other than the burned spot, the rest of the amp looks fine.
  11. Low voltage? The 50A fuse is a 32v...I usually run a 100A fuse which I believe is 12v..doesn't say on the fuse. The 50A fuse is the only one I was able to get hoping it will hold me till I got my 100A circuit breaker. When I put the 50A fuse is when I started smelling the burning.
  12. I just noticed that the temporary inline 50A fuse I bought is a 32v fuse. Maybe this is what shot my amp?
  13. Okay, great. Then I will open it up later today in the afternoon. Hopefully by then i will get a reply from AudioQue. I called them about 8 times yesterday (morning and afternoon) and emailed them in the morning and no answer. If i burned something in the amp, do u think it will be covered by warranty? Ive ordered it from them only in july.
  14. If it wont void the warranty, then i will open it up today and take a look. If something IS wrong with the amp, do you think it would be covered by warranty or would i have to buy a new amp?
  15. my fuses are fine and all the way in.
  16. I replaced my inline fuse holder with a circuit breaker. I remember when i blew my inline fuse and tested the voltage at the amp, i was only getting around 6volts. At the battery, i was of course getting 12+ volts. After i had installed the circuit breaker and turned it on, i get the same voltage as i get at the battery so i know the power is good.
  17. oops, sorry. yes. I get proper voltage through all the wires including remote wire.
  18. No, i was gonna basically start fresh. Connect one end of the jumper cable to the battery and connect the other end directly to the amp. I want to completely bypass the fuse and current wire that is used to power the amp. I dont have any wire other than jumper cables. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  19. Okay, is it okay if i use jumper cables to connect the amp to the battery to make sure the amp works before i go spend money on a new cable/install?
  20. Okay, so my best bet would be to try to take another wire and connect the amp to the battery using that to make sure the amp works? If it does, then its definitely the wire right? Can i try to use my jumper cable for the positive wire to test the amp because i do not have any wire?
  21. I checked the connections and i see to be getting good power to the amp..12+ volts..yet the amp is not turning on. while i have the power running to the amp, the burnt smell is slowly comming back but not strong at all. u have to be about 1 foot away from the amp to smell it. also, i felt that the top side near the rca inputs was a little warmer than the rest of the amp.
  22. I got a .6...hopefully i did the test correctly...what does this actually mean??
  23. I will follow everybody's post and do a thorough check today. Ive also just sent a email to AudioQue. Im in school at the moment, hopefully i will get a reply from them before im out and ready to check?
  24. Your talking about the fuse at the battery? yea, i bought a 50A fuse for my inline fuse holder at the battery hoping it will hold me untill i got my circuit breaker. the AQ1200 itself has three 40A fuses. those are for the internal part of the amp the might not blow if other things are wrong. You need to talk to a amp expert. Yea. I may take it to the shop who did my installation. And ill also give AudioQue a call. There are people on this form that are more amp savy, buts its Sunday. yea, makes sense. lol thanks again!! ill continue to check the forum for more replies.
