Best car audio battery?
theabunai replied to dopey's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
A 12 volt Alternator is capable of producing up to 15Volts In virtually all automobiles, the charging system voltage is stated to be 12 volts. In reality, the voltage ranges from ~12 volts to ~14.5 volts... The charging system in most cars will generally produce a voltage between 13.5 and 14.4 volts while the engine is running. It has to generate more voltage than the battery's rated voltage to overcome the internal resistance of the battery. The current needed to recharge the battery would not flow at all if the charging system's output voltage was the same as the battery voltage (if this were not the case the alternator would keep sending voltage to the battery with catastrophic results).. As long as the engine is running and the alternator is working, all of the power for the accessories is delivered by the alternator. The battery is actually a load on the charging system (since this is when it usually recovers lost voltage). The only time that the battery would supply power with the engine running is when the current capacity of the alternator is exceeded or when engine is at a very low idle (sort of like a capacitors role in a audio system). -
hmm can we submit some of our own designs ?

CCA (you see this mainly for starting batteries) The number of amperes a battery at 0

Damn that truck with 5 alternators is sick -
the two 12's will move a bit more air (based in theory off of cone area).... I do believe the 18 will sound louder and can get LOWER then the 2 12's Given many factors though (enclosure of course and car ergonomics)

dopey is it sealed gel cell ? ESR value good ? (since kinetik doesn't display their ESR value you should check into that) I got an optima (since my current companies owner owns an interstate battery shop i got it cheap) I just saw Costco and Sam;s club have optimas now Yellow tops 34/78 for $160 bucks Marine batt for $150 red top for $130 And that is in Hawaii in the 48 states they are cheaper due to lower shipping rates... You can get kinetiks for cheap here http://stores.ebay.com/Imezak_Power-Cells-...4QQftidZ2QQtZkm In my opinion there are TWO things you should never short cut in car audio... the electrical and wiring...

Best car audio battery?

if the alternator and the battery were same voltage then the car would run off the battery and not the alternator..... having the alternator at a higher voltage makes the car run off the alt and at the same time allows the battery to get fully charged every time... -
Go to the sundown forum (found on this board) and join in on the pre-order for the SAE-1000 if not PM kluv or Denim they got the hook-ups woot
-
Sundown for sure man no doubt... not only a solid amp but a great manufacturer as well sort of like Fi's owner...

WAAAHHHHHHH !!!!! Where's mine Another reason why Hawaii SUCKS

Great subs that never should have been discontinued....

Would like to see the old Kickers (with the gold plain lettering that everyone thought was generic speakers).. And some good old fashion M&M's -

well for HTML We use Homesite (from macromedia) most it's pretty much click what tag you need and it inserts it or pops a window asking for parameters. I use it all the time.... It's way better imho then dreamweaver and not as beefy For PHP i HIGHLY recommend php expert editor.... OUTSTANDING php editor.... Anything else let me know As you know be sure Gzip is installed on the server for coppermine.... I think coppermine uses OOP PHP which is really really difficult to decipher if you want to mod the source code for some custom features B)

Listened to Show Stoppers this morning and WOW. I know for sure my old subs didn't hit those lows. BEEFY! same here man Show stoppers really do hit hard I do that for demo....

Brad I can realte so well to you I have a CCNA and a CSS1 3 years networking for macy's in hawaii I also have 5 years in PHP and myLSQ... I have done roughly 20 sites (some for rock bands and several for design sites *contract work*) I own a company called eye4designs.com (the PHP and LSQ is being updated this week so some pages may not show) Site hasn't been updated for years ... I quit all my networking crap and am a 5th year sheet metal/Air Conditioning apprentice working for my journeyman status (and pay woot woot) I am also one of the pioneers that help modify and make available TBsource Trackers for Bittorrent (yes i have hook ups everywhere if someone needs help with their torrenting PM me).. If you need any help with PHP shoot me a PM.... www.eye4designs.com if you want to check out some of our older designs...

Hey Fi staff... Maybe you could make a sticky thread and call it Recone quotes that way all the recone questions are in one place and others can easily browse the section to see if their sub is in there... Just a thought

Yeah scott recommended sub up port back for the tC And i now scott knows what he is doing...

Press brake Hey Steve I'm an 5th year Apprentice in Sheet Metal (AC and General SM) union local 293... What do you do ?
-
ergonomic* tej (note to self smash keyboard in half later)
-
Tej it's actually a hatch.... It's much more egronic than an RSX and the rear window angles nicely to the front part of the cab... I got better results facing the subs UP than back... Which is pretty rare LOL
