    fi btl power handling

Or as jimj posted (but with a play on words) can your vehicle put out for that kind of power.... bad voltage = bad power = sub woofer life shorter....

    BL vs. Q

Just read scotts, nicks or shawns posts... I learn more here then in any book LOL
  4. theabunai

    BL vs. Q

what nick means is that they BOTH can hit low and loud based on the enclosure you build.... A Q tuned at 30 hz on 1k watts will sound (to the ear) musicly the same as a BL in an enclosure tuned to 30 hz with 1 K watts... but the Q has the ability (with the right enclosure, amplification and xover points) to provide better SQ.. Where the BL has the ability (with the right enclosure, amplification and Xover points) to give you better results on the SPL end... It is all about "potential" the Q has the potential to be better at SQ then the BL and the BL has the potential to be a better SPL sub then the Q

    Just wondering..

Well Scott... I look at it like this.... You can't please everyone and if you tried you'd live a really short life... So as long as you know and understand that you can't please everyone, shows how much more "adult" we can be.... I am sure as hell glad that Fi and it's employees don't stoop so low as to "sling mud" of another product to try and sway a few uneducated sheep to buy their product.... and rightfully so, since Fi subs in reality do sell themselves.... But to put icing on the cake, Fi provides un-presidented customer support, prior, during and after purchasing of the product.... and it would be an under statement when i say you, nick and shawn go beyond what the "regular" tech/service reps do.... But I stand true to my word...... There are pink elephants in africa that turn purple when you get them wet..... at least that's what i heard !!

    Just wondering..

It's funny how some feel the need to dog another product to try and sell theirs...... It's cause the product they sell can't live up to the name so they have to trash the competitions product as the "last" resort... and it's funny how he "hears" these things...... I hear Solo "x" s sound like crap I hear DD is the dollar for dollar the worst sub to invest in I hear BTL tinsels break like string Oh and i also hear that in africa there is a pink elephant that changes purple when you throw water on it..... LOL

12" BL to Hawaii 96789 zip?

Bri I live in Aiea but work in Waipahu I haven't metered yet but i am am currently working on a new box with the help of nick and scott... I went down to pick up some terminal cups and demo'd for the owner of car stereo express... I can rattle their windows (parked right outside his shop my car is about 4 ft from his windows) He sat in it and said it is one of the loudest Dual 12 set ups he has heard in Hawaii.... I am going down to ryans shop (mobile car audio) after the new box is done and meter it for an official record. I believe he is only one of 5 shops that has a Termlab everyone else has Audio control and i used to work there as an installer so it will be no charge... let me know when we can hook up so i can demo it for you.... PM on the board or email me at [email protected] Cliff

Is what this installer said true

Trust me Just because they are an installer doesn't mean they know everything... I'd trust Scott and his team with any advice about THEIR subwoofer or any Subwoofer they have extensively worked with.... I know tons of DIY that would run circle around some installers.....

    Scott and FI tech

corner loading most likely the pressure that builds in the corner could be acting on the mechanical movement of the sub...

Holy chit scott That was confusing for me to sort out it must be hell in your shop at times LOL
  16. theabunai

    SSD

If ported with 2K I would get the flatwind and the BP power for the SSD If sealed I'd get the Coppercoil and BP power
  17. theabunai

    SSD

Are you going sealed or ported ? How much power ?
  18. theabunai

    BL or SSD

tpjr you're right man Wait till i get my video of my 2 12" SSD in my Scion tC up.... You will be suprised to see what carnage they can do... I had to take my scion in to re-tighten my spoiler and have a new sunroof lip installed since it fell off.... It also ended up rattling something in my stock alarm loose in the brain so it wasn't working correctly... They installed a new security unit and padded it with something like sound deadener.... props to scion... My folks have the camera (dvd video) in oregan since my older bro just had a baby but when they get back I'll post a video of SSD's in daily (yupp and just 2 of them)

    Amazed with Fi

just remember Tej If you got voltage drop with the car running you can run 100 runs of 0/2 gauge and it won't matter if your system is drawing more then the ALT can put out... when the car is on the system runs off the alternator and the batteries only kick in when the alt can't push out anything more then the batts supplement the alt output NOT the other way around... I would do 2 batts per memphis and possibly think about stacking another alternator (I would do the alternator IF ANYTHING)... one alternator runs the cars electrical and the other dedicated purely for the system.... i can guarantee you'll gain DB's with a stable 13+ Volts.. Kslice posted the group buy you can also get some KLM wire from knukonceptz (where a lot of daily pounders get their stuff at) for a $1.75 a ft http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.c...ory=KLM%20Kable

    I got a Q

slot ports are just that, it's a rectangular port that uses one side of the wall as part of it's construction... Depending on what you want to tune it to.. the tuning freq will determine the ports length a universal width is usually 4" though Fi Recommends in almost all ported enclosures 12 - 16 sqr ft of the boxes Volume so say you box is 15" high the port will be 4"W x 13.5" H x (whatever length is required for tuning) Then it will look similar to this (this is not exact i just wanted to show you a picture) Ported plans
