Lookin at SSD's with copper coil

My 2 SSD's play well in the 40-50 hz range... Sealed usually brings your tune a bit higher with a much better gradual rolloff (IMO)... It still hit the lows but down into the 30-34hz range it does begin to show it's limitation (though i am giving it close to 1100 watts each so this coupled with my enclosures Fb is around 42hz may be the issue more then the freq response ~meaning playing below tuning with 1100 watts).... I have ADS 6.5 mids in my doors and i read (i believe it was Jimj not too sure) someone mention fab a custom MDF piece instead of trying to make it fit into the factory crap-ass Plastic... So i took it out fabricated a nice MDF panel then plopped them back in.... BIG difference in response and had a little bit of booooom to them.... Now i don't suffer from the dreaded "upper range lacking" issue... And now with a brand new audiocontrol x-over/eq and a new sundown 100.4 I'm going to biamp and go completely active cause i really do love the crisp clean sound of music ALONG with my boomy bass....

    jokes

A young boy was doing well in school in all subjects except for Math. So his parents decide to send him to a private Catholic school. While there the boy came home from school and studied every day. At the end of the marking period the boy got straight A's. So his parents asked him, "What motivated you to do so well in school?" He replied, "When I saw that guy nailed to a plus sign I knew they weren't fooling around!"

    3000d ???

Damn the saz-1500d is just so bad-ass..... I'm sure the 3000d can produce better numbers once you guys get all the fine tuning and wrinkles out... Please keep updating with improvements and what exactly was done to achieve these improvements... I am currently saving for either 2x saz-1500d or 1 saz-3000d.... So i will be following this thread closely
  12. theabunai

Which of the two would you do and why

Tej that 1100 is what denim them are required to advertise... But a PM or email to aaron or mark will tune the price lower then what the site has

    Competing with Daily setting?

Yea ill be listening to it daily more than competition.. I was just wondering if the BTL is right for me. I want a daily driver but also a sub that will kick ass at comps It "CAN" be right for you.... Now that we have established what the majority of your subs will be used for.. We can move on to more detailed questions... What kind of amp you have delivering that 2500 watts ? A BTL is first and foremost IMO a SPL sub..... BUT you can add some options to make it work for Daily as well.... A BL is a great Daily sub that can be optioned up to be an SPL sub.... It depends on the install as well.... BL is IMO a better choice for Daily and yeah it can "put up" some numbers in SPL when called upon.... This is not to say you can't go daily with a BTL with the right tuning, enclosure and options it can be a good Daily pounder. End point BTL great SPL sub good for daily BL great Daily sub good for SPL

    Happy birthday Rich!!! (helotaxi)

Happy Bday to one of the members that have taught me a lot about the more technical side of car audio..... I know someone needs to do it so i'll go ahead and put down a 6 pack for you

    Competing with Daily setting?

Honestly the BTL review will be subjective and depend on individual enclosure, tuning, install and options available.... I think ALL subs have SPL capabilities and all have the ability to be used for daily... i think what they mean by compromise is are you wanting to edge over others within a fraction of a decibel ? Or are you just going to competitions on occasion and listen to your system more of a daily type scenario... once these questions are answered i think people could point you in the right direction...

    Measuring for resinate Freq:

Vladd you could be right... but wouldn't you have the box freq by using the QTC you made the sealed enclosure with, then taking the vas, QTS and Fs to get the enclosures Fb (enclosure resonance) ? I could be wrong again though
  18. theabunai

    Measuring for resinate Freq:

I thought the best way was to build a single sealed enclosure that will dislpace the same amount of space as your ported enclosure.. have a Tone test cd.. then go tone by tone and test each freq. Keep volume set at the same level at all times. Have all doors and windows closed. use a db meter to record the decibels... the frequency with the highest decibel is your magic number... I could be wrong...

Power output of the Multi channel amps

I will be putting up a review of my newly arrived sax 100.4 I had a 4 channel soundstream reference series 644s (4x75) then i switched to 2 soundstream rubicon 502 one for tweets one for mids (125 x 2 each amp) I also had an Alpine MRV-F345 (4x75) prior to the soundstreams but sold it So i will be able to compare sundowns to those amps they aren't exactly high Quality amps but they are much more expensive then the 100.4 (the two rubicons ran me about 680 for two, the 644s ran me around 500 used)... Prior to the 100.4 arrival the 644s sounded the cleanest but the loudest were the two rubicon 502.. i am looking for good things from my 100.4 I'll post up once i get it in and all tweaked up

    btl questions

    what did i do wrong?

the rockford 360.2 would make it sound much better BUT if i am not mistaken you need a palm pilot to adjust the equalization and other features... I believe even the 360.1 requires a palm pilot... this is from the manual for the 360.2 While 3Sixty will run without an external controller, a Palm

    my btl blew

before you fix the sub i'd find out what made it literally go boom....
