Fi doesn't recommend putting the BL (and BTL) in a sealed enclosure.. I think the Q or SSD would do well in that enclosure

Oh corey a 1500D at 1/2 ohm ... Please do a few runs with music i wanted to know how it takes the 1500D on music
-
Shame on you Aaron for suggesting that..... I wouldn't want to hurt my sundown that way LOL

Play them at a respectable volume level.... What i usually do is wire them at the highest ohm i can (example dual 2ohm i wire 4ohm, dual 1 ohm i wire 2 ohm) and just play them at a nice level not balls to the wall... Gain respectfully set... mainly to get parts moving, glue settling and just over all getting the mechanical aspect accustomed to moving.. I say (depending about how long you play them per day) on average about 15~25 min play time in about a week or 2 you will notice 1 of 2 things... they aren't as stiff anymore (checked by pushing on the cone), they have a different sound to them (some experience LOWER bass, some experience LOUDER bass at the same level they play it at).... Once i am done with break in, i will wire them up to what i intended to wire them up to.... then adjust my gains and x-overs/filters according to the break in sound, then i feel safe about opening them up on the volume knob..... I truly believe in breaking a sub in... as with a car....

Is that an X or v2 sd that made it over to corey LOL Hey corey if you get bored with it send it to me over in Hawaii so i can check if the build can withstand tropical weather ...

Same here emperor..... I remember searching google for hours trying to find out what Fi stood for... I thought it was initials (like RF for rockford RE for Resonant engineering) Then i find out it's Fi plain and simple lol... from then i think scotts box was filled pretty much with all my emails LOL. not that the later part has changed though.... -

southpole.... you could try contact iraggi alts for a higher output alt in case you wanna get nasty with your saz and go 1 ohm !! I would say the 3D at 2 ohms would push a good 1700~ watts out at 13 volts.... and then some...
-
Jacob.... I would LOVE to see you make a component set (6-1/2 mid and 1" tweeter) that is made to be fully active and a nice match for the sax 100.4..................... just throwing stuff out at you my man

Today we had a gathering in hawaii with some other audiophiles.. some veterans and some new... I asked one of my fellow Sundown users to come down and demo the amp (a sundwon-3000D on a fully loaded 18" BTL)... No chit man his system was the biggest draw... everyone was gathered around his truck and wanted to just stick their head by the window.... Ride Truck x-treme (I think didn't really notice) 18" fully loaded BTL Sundown saz-3000D Iraggi 260 amp alt Kinetik batteries... The 18 BTL was a freaking monster and the sundown 3000D is a freaking BEAST........ With the windows fully down on both sides, we were doing hair tricks with GUYS LOL.... You couldn't sit in it without flinching from the bass.... Rear view mirror fell off and taped to the dash later.... In the next term lab gathering were gonna meter it with the right settings and song.... It was the biggest draw at the gathering... everyone gathered around the truck and everyone wanted to feel the monster BTL/Sundown combo... Jesus christ it was pucking loud, low and sounded pretty freaking good doing it... I was in the cab to adjust his settings on his amp and holy chit he bumped it full tilt and i thought i was gonna get a nose bleed.... After i made adjustments on the amp it was freaking clean and so damn low.... after demoing for about an hour at full tilt this amp was just slightly warm... Jacob.. Seriously, I need you to send me some brochures or something. I couldn't keep up with all the questions about the amp line and company...... there will be literally an influx of Sundown amps that may be getting ordered from hawaii.... I hope Aaron and mark don't mind me dropping their shop as the place to get a Sundown from (possible special price for Hawaii guys if they mention my forums name ??) Even the guy with 12,000 watts (who metered the loudest) was in amazement of the Sundown and wants to get 6 for comps.... I'll be getting in touch with Jacob later about that.... Just wanted to say Sundown was rep'n in hawaii today w00t w00t

Marc knows whats good eh Sundown ftw LOL

-
Yo let me tell you whoever thinks SS 8's don't got game hasn't heard Yama's 8 yupp ONE 8 and that thing sounded like 2 10's..... It hit low and freaking loud.... I am seriously considering an rli 8 for the wifes ride now... thank you yama for giving us a listen..... I was telling everyone... "no that's not 8 myron is running... look at the score and listen to it... it's gotta be 10's" Boy was i wrong lol... Yama definitely rep'd soundsplinter today in Hawaii...
-
yupp philip gonna check it out for you no worries I'll get back to you in a few days about it...
-
Yupp we are having the last sound-off comp for this year at the end of october... I'm gonna go ahead and do a cross demo with Fi at the comp... I was wondering if you had some banners and a few stickers or brochures with your amp spec on it so people can just grab and go.... If not I wanted to know if Mark or Aaron wouldn't mind me printing the info about the amps from their online shop so i can get them some advertising for SSA Shop and Sundown and also help me get info on where to get there sundown amps... The sundown amps had the most interest by people at the sound off today... @ mark Yupp pics are being sorted as we speak... I'll post them when Sky gets them done...

MAX draw would be about 92 amps on a sine wave... I would say on music it would be right around 60 amps of draw on peak areas... I heard a nine.1 in a scion xB...... Sounded pretty loud and low.... He was looking for a new amp.... I suggested a saz-1500d but the guy ended up getting a sae-1000 from one of the forums .... I asked him to come back so i could hear the difference... I thought he was lying and he put a 1500d in there cause the chit was loud and low as hell..... he was gonna get another sub and amp prior to buying the sae but now it's exactly what he wanted it to sound like... Both are good amps.. sundown has the edge in my taste since i like efficiency... and as stated, Jacob has one of the best customer service you can find... not that you'll need it since sundown amps have a pretty good track record of NOT breaking down but it's good to know that if you got questions the person who had a hand in designing the thing is right there to answer them...

2 15inch Q's + Sundown SAZ- 3000D amp to much power?
theabunai replied to Smondo17's topic in Fi Products
OMG yes i have to agree.... Don't get me wrong the Q is one of the most accurate subs that can get super low and loud but the BL (in the words of nick) doesn't get pissed off with a lot of power... The BL literally soaks up the power and keeps on going, with room to get a little frisky on the volume knob and gain.... -
This is the very reason why nick's company is one of the tops in my lists... Superb quality subs Superb quality customer service And it's not all about the money sometimes.... makings of what i call a stellar company
-
just because one mid bass has the same impedance load as another DOES NOT mean they respond to the freq the same... Each drivers response is different from design to design... (which is why many suggested to never mix subwoofer brands. Why would you get a Kicker L7 and a SI mag) The impedance of a speaker is not a constant. It's actual impedance changes with frequency and can vary greatly. Manufacturers give you a nominal impedance, which is generally the average impedance that the speaker will present to the amplifier Not all drivers are created equally.... (correct me if i'm wrong jimj or M5 I might be totally of basis on this one)
-
use your fist and pound on the area to see if you can duplicate it without bass.... No chit we Deadened a trunk the guy kept coming back cause of one freaking DIME that was in the undercarriage.. It's funny how that dime wasn't noticed and wasn't loud until the rest of the trunk was deadened and it just sung like an opera singer in a mime contest
-
Why would you want the rear fill to have the same volume level as the front stage.... I would put the entire left front stage on ch 1 and the entire right front stage on ch 2 then if you need the rear fill power it off the HU rear output...
