Yes Its is. Its a 99 Cougar.

Thanks for the comments guys. Man these things move alot of air.

I dont see a reason to change the volume of the box because you are changing its tuned freq. I use the idea that all spacing(port, driver) should be at least as far away from any wall as what ever the diameter is of the port you are using. If that makes sense.

Thats the exact amp I have except mines the 06 model. To answer your question.....It can be. So as long as you know what to look for you'll be fine. I think at one point myself and Mark measured the amp with a DMM, and it was north of 1400 watts. But that wasnt a true rms reading.

Just a personal update here. I had a 2.5 cube gross @ 27hz(3cubes is recommended) box sitting here and decided to give this driver a try in this box. Now granted I have more power on tap than this driver truely requires(1200rms). I have yet to notice any decrease in output at any freq given the small nature of the box. So for those who can sacrafice a bit of efficency, IMO you can use a slightly smaller box. This thing wangs hard!

What drivers are you comparing?

These amps are getting some serious results over at Termpro.com. Aparently they do well over rated power. http://audioforum.termpro.com/topic/20/14376.html And might I add.......OMFG!!!!!! http://audioforum.termpro.com/topic/20/14385.html

Yes we did achieve 136.something. I wanna say it was high 136 but I cant recall. 138.9 on the same power with the IXL-12.......and that was by mistake and no where near full potential. I too was going to recommend a port plug setup.
-
Mine was 2.2 cubes @ 35hz. The tuning was perfect but the box was too big for the full 1000rms I fed it. Now depending on how much power you have, I would recommed 1.6-1.8 cubic feet after all displacements.

Thats a Whole Lot Of ASS!!

Mark had a go at a 8" driver that I am not quite sure where it would have fit into his line up. We did some testing on it and were not pleased with the results we came up with. I dont know if mark has any further intension about this project. But IMO I dont think its neccissary as anyone after 8's could pottentially step up to the IXL 10 for their applications as it is a small box driver. And lets keep in mind guys, Mach 5's capital expenditure is tied up in product.

I do. I loved it. It gave me everything I could ask for and more. Personally its my new benchmark driver. I had the 10 and 12 in ported boxes. The 12 was more my Basshead style, but the 10 perfectly blended with my system.

Can I get a pic of the backside of a MACH5

Yep......... IXL's are just that damn good.

Thats the exact car I have. My review is here... http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=19852 If you like it to get loud the 12 by default does get louder.

It depends on the install and power in order to be comparative. But The IXL's would sound better....thats a given.

2 Mach 5 IXL-12.2.2 or 3 Mach 5 MJ-18Ms?
Puggsley456 replied to gearstix's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Well what your budget on a amp? You should be able the find 1000rms @ 2 ohm for a decent price. -

I voted 2 IXL's. Its not a knock in any way against the MJ's. I just think 2 IXL 12's and 12-1600rms would be more than any human should ever need. Note the "Should" in that sentence. Plus it should make the box construction alot easier. And the IXL's kick ass.......in case I was sending mixed messages. -
The IXLs are true SQ drivers. With big honkin' balls.

All I can add here is that that power sealed should down right SEXY! That what it sounds like based on your review that I read. Do these do well in a small sealed box and what size would be best? I'd like to be .5cft - .8cft if possible. Well I havent really tested it sealed... but the ported box was .85. So sealed should be close to .6 optimal.

No everyone needs More holidays not less...

Based on my time with the IXL 10 and 12 they are true SQ drivers that natively get loud due to their design. But they are a phenominal SQ driver.
