I am building a competition van for a customer and it will have either 16 XS Power D3100s or 20 2400s (working on sponsorship), 4 Kicker Warhorse amps, and a deck mounted in rear for burps with a audio control line driver (8v). This will be walled off and strictly for Competition use only and tuned around 70HZ. The customer wants to go with Kicker Solo X 18s but I am currently trying to get him into Sundown Nightshade V2 18s. There will be 4 subs and each one will be hooked up to one warhorse at full power (approx 10k rms each sub). In the van already i have deadened the cabin (this is only modification allowed in front of B-Pillar in USACI Modfified Division), ran 2 4/0 power and 1 4/0 ground from front to rear and an additional 4 2/0 grounds to the frame in the rear of van by where the batts will be. This vehicle will have no speakers and no deck up front for starting out. I have figured out exactly how i am going to build the wall, amp rack, batt rack etc. Also we will be going with either a dual or triple Ohio Generater 275 amp alt set up. COUPLE QUESTIONS: Will the shades handle the burps? and for how long? We would like to do street beat (30 second music average) will the subs handle this? and for how long? At USACI Comps this van will qualify for 6 classes, 2 are burp classes, 2 are port wars classes (burps) and 2 are 30 second average classes. Will the subs be fine doing 10-15 burps and 2 30 second runs in a day with cooling and charging batts in between? Little info that may help: I will be buying an O-Scope Before testing and these amps will be turned up to max output with out clipping. I also will have a very massive port and as of now seems like i will have approx 8.7-9 cubes from sub side of port opening to sub side of box. port should be approx 13-14" wide by 38-42" high (i dont have exact numbers here with me currently-plus need to do more measuring). Box will have solid 2x4 frame, 8 layer face and rear (6" thick), sides top and bottom will be 4 layers thick with 4 layers of resin on interior of box and painted. all corners and edges of box will have 6" PVC cut down and mitered in for snug fit and backed with glass chop matt for strength. Please any ideas with the shades is much appreciated! at the end of the season if Jacob has released his new higher line subs then we will be changing to them (maybe the day he decides to release we will order). The customer has a minimum of $4500 to dedicate towards this build a month and up to $7500 if he works an extra week, so funds are no issue.

thanks jacob! actually in usaci they have stock 601-1800 at 4 ohm so it would be perfect there also modified 1001-2000 so good to go there and 2001-4000 great for 2! awesome! guys around here will like this! thanks again for making killer products!

so i have been asked a few times and have done my fair share of looking and asking.....what is the 1 ohm 2 ohm and 4 ohm (mainly 4 ohm) rating on the NS1? i cant and others cant seem to find these any where apart from its a beast. we compete USACI in my area and 3 of the guys in or close to the 160s really want to know this to see if they can be in the classes they want with this amp. I also have heard it will have 1 rating only 600 rms @ 4ohm which would be killer in USACI but whats the truth to this? Im tired of getting the run around or answer-its a beast when i ask. my customers are really curious too and keep asking if i have heard anything.....so please JACOB straight up, what are you rating these at 4 ohm? Thanks Tyler
-
damn! i wish Jacob would rate it 1000 w rms at 4 ohm rms at 14.4 or 12v for USACI rating to be able to get into an awesome class

ASTRO VAN WALL NEED HELP!
Out There Customs replied to Out There Customs's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
ok i have basically everything figured out now for the build....just would like a little help with box size and tuning. Here is how i am building the box-please give comments or feedback and suggestions to change it if you have and ideas tips or tricks please let me know! solid 2x4 outer shell 8 layers 3/4" thick front and rear 4-5 layers thick top sides and bottom front baffle-sub cut outs- 1st 2 layers will be snug to subs then will flare out on the sub side of port the baffle wood will be rounded and a 6" pvc will be snug fit around it on drivers side of port mdf will angle to b pillar and pvc will be used to smooth if needed inside in all corners will be 6" pvc mitered into the next for full flush fit all pvc i will be using 1 1/2 oz chop mat on front and back to add strength then glueing and screwing in. bondo will be used to smooth for screws followed by resin all interior of box will have 4 layers of resin------resin 80 grit resin 80 grit resn 80 grit finally resin the 80 grit working up to 220 grit i will be doing solid wood wall face for starters then will try putting deadening on as ive seen alot of people do this unless someone has some ideas there??? also i want to paint the inside because i have heard this helps, what kind of paint should i use? how many coats? should i do a high grit sand after it? just paint and leave?? no knowledge here on this the van will be built for USACI modified 4001+ which allows any and all mods behind b-pillar and only deadening in front of it. i will be deadening the front the first day i have the van as we are waiting on the rest of equipment. i will also be only using the rear floor space for 16 xs d3100s other then that im open for room. the warhorses will only take up 1 warhorse wide by 1 warhorse long and approx 2 feet tall as i am stacking the 4 like i have my 2 and will be mounted in rear above the batts. we are know also in talks about getting some modded 18" nsv2 from jacob and waiting to here back from him as we hear the solo x line is being discontinued by kicker. also i will be running 6 runs of 1/0 front to back and 4 runs 1/0 gr frnt to back with 4 more 1/0 grounds to frame in rear. the batts and amps will be above the rear axle (has 1800 bags and new shocks and upgraded tires). this van was walled before with 24 kin 16v, 4 RD D9s, and 4 RD Extra heavy weight 18s and hit 159.7 but there were issues that could not be figured out---amps hit protect everytime kicked on and wouldnt do full burps. this was looked into alot with the end result being the van got stripped. the only things left were the headliner and all interior in front of b-pillar which is all i need! please if any one has any ideas to help better this or better my ideas for the box please let me know! Thanks Tyler -
I have been approached by a customer with 4 Kicker Warhorses and 4 Kicker Solo X 18s. He is having me build a 1990 Astro van to be all out SPL. i am looking for any help in the matter of tips, tricks, pointers, etc on how to do this install. Lexan windows are already in plans. Concrete floor will be a must (how do i do this? how thick? what kind of concrete? just the cabin or all the way back?). Lowering roof (how should i do this? what should i use?). Custom Dash (what do i use? how should i construct it? what shape?). Center Counsel (should I build one? just leave it open space? what should I build it with? how should design be?). should i cover the wall floor roof dash in anything or leave raw? Kicker is helping me with the box design on it as well. This will be built to compete is Super Mod 4001+ in USACI. Please any help and pictures are greatly appreciated

there is only 1 guy remotly close to us that knows alot about these and a good friend of mine. he has never done anything like this (has been walled for 11 years and changed his wall every year and built 4 other ones). other then that there is no one around us. the other 3 shops in the city im from wont even build custom boxes. they are prefab only! i have built 3 walls before just no extreme vehicles -
i just did 2 solo x 12s off a SAZ2500d in 8 cubes tuned to 40 in a 22ft sea ray!! he wanted to do night shades, but this was in may when we did it and as everyone knows.....no shades avail at that time. the thing is absolutely ridiculous! the entire boat flexs.....cd player is about 8 feet away from subs and on opposite side of boat and cant play cds above 2/3 volume do too the flex and deck bouncing!

i have a 2001 nissan maxima, it is has 2 layers of deadening on floor, roof, doors, and 3 layers in trunk. currently i am running a single infinity kappa 12 off a infinity 1300a (300 watts) in the trunk. Yes that much deadening for this beasty sub! lol. I have JBL C608 GTi MKii components up front off a JBL GTO752. as you can see i have an insanely loud system! no it sounds really good and still does 138.0 outlaw style and 136.6 30 sec music average in the kick. i say all this because i have mirror rattle from this believe it or not....both my mirrors rattle enough to annoy the average person. Over the years I have become acustom to not even looking at my mirrors and not paying attention to them rattling (have lost a few completely too and didnt sweat it at all just rocked 1 side mirror haha). also i had a 2001 vw jetta with 2 layers in entire car and 2 alpine type r 12s off mrp1000 in trunk. i was doing 148s yes 148s! on 30 second music average and my mirrors rattled insanely. i even tried to wedge stuff in them to stop it but it did not work. i have yet to figure out how to concure this matter but from all of my vehicles (9 total over the last few years) that i have put 2 layers of deadening in....even 300 watts and single SQ 12....i still have mirror rattle....

Out There Customs replied to sundownz's topic in Sundown Audio
E-Mail will work until we add them on the cart. Hey sorry again jake i just realized this was on here too. i was planning on emailing you to order some but my new guy decided he would take control and ask and thought this was a dealers forum. i had a talk with him today and he wont do it again. too make sure of this i am making sure i log out of the forum when i am done so no one can post thru my account questions we need to ask. Once again I am sorry for this and it is handled now. If you see any other ones that seem odd or something that should be emailed to you instead of here please delete comment and email me what is said, if he does it again it wont be pretty for him and i promise that i will handle it in a matter i am hoping it does not come too as it looks bad for our shop in my eyes. -

Hey all, I'm tyler from Bismarck, ND. I'm not officially a noob to audio (even thou some people up here know me as Mr. Noobcake). I have been involved in the car audio and competition scene since i was 14 (2004). I also starting my own shop last year called Out There Customs. At my shop my #1 thing is car audio, but also sell alot of different aftermarket parts, mechanic work, body work, motor swaps, etc. I do know alot about car audio but there are some areas that are ruff for me and I am going to be asking for some help on my box design and what you guys think will work best in my setup idea, if i seem to use wrong terms and words describing things.....bare with me as i know more things as words or phrases i come up with as it is easier for me to remember with all i have going on. If I say something and you dont understand me, please ask and ill explain and feel free to tell me the "proper term". Thanks My shop vehicle: 1999 Chevy Blazer 4 door 2 layers of dynamat extreme thru entire vehicle Eclipse 5v Deck Infinity Kappa 6.5 components (f doors) JBL Digital 1004 2 Kicker Warhorses 4 Solo X 12s (temp-need to get rid of) 8 Kinetik HC2400s I did a quick throw together install with boxes someone else made for solo x 12s for a competition last week and I am redoing everything so it is a disaster until i have the time and figure out my new build.
