"and they will be made to order..." can they be made without "built to last" on them?
-
this is the size of box i want to build: 16tall x 40wide x 28deep, there is an internal volume amount of 8.11 cu ft. after you account for the entire top being double baffled... subs up, port back (in the middle). i came up with a port, 13.75tall x 8wide x 23.5deep for a tuning of 32hz using this program: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 i used the "Calculate Your Vent Length" section to come up with that port. it asks what tuning frequency you desire but there is not a place to enter how many or what size drivers you are using. is that port good for four 12"s?

hell yeah dude... i got a short story, also. but first, i dont "crank" on mine too often either. anyway, the other day i pulled my car into the shop after work to do some work under my hood and someone that happened to be there at the time came back and obviously noticed my two 18"s in the hatch area and was blown away. he wanted to hear it, of course. i get in and put on something ghetto, as well, turn things up, then crank on the epic-160 for a few minutes and then turned everything off. he was like, wow. gave me two thumbs up. then walked up front. about a minute later he walks back to me and says a cup walked off the edge of a counter and the clock had been knocked off of the wall. anyway, those memphis 4kw amps should be rokin in there, dude. sorry about your voltage loss. just keep tweeking stuff, you shouldnt have that low of voltage going to each amp with a battery on each one. at least i dont think so... good luck...

"thats what i wanna hear. :]" you didnt already know a 15" would get loud, too? yeah, either one will pound.
-
heh, me too... but seriously, the 18 will be louder if you can get it in a big enough box...
-
definently... your talking double the cone area, dude. four 15"s has my vote...

Here is my original link with pictures. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7420 After a little more time with them I am still pleased. Build quality is so nice on these. They are nice and broken in now, the suspension feels alot less stiff then when I orignally got them. They are still in the same box, a TTB t-line enclosure. The sound quality of these from this box has been awesome so far, and yes, they do sound better these days after being broken in abit. I am going to build a much larger ported box soon just for comparison. I still have the same Concept CD-2410 amp but plan to upgrade later, I want a RF t3000bd. I tested a Memphis 2000d on them the other day and they really came to life with alot of extra clean power. I couldnt run the Memphis for long due to low electrical current but with the gain less than half it was feeding them alot more than my Concept. We played some of the radio, a Young Jeezy CD and a Godsmack CD and the sound was awesome at volumes the Concept was straining just to get to. I am 25 years old, I listen to alot of music, even stuff I grew up on. What pleases me the most with these is that I can play anything I want and expect it to sound good. I gave up on Metallica over the last year while I was stuck with a 12" Crossfire XT2. Now I dont just carry some rap CDs with me, I carry tons of CDs with me now. I really have nothing negative to say about them because the only times the sound coming from them hasnt been so pleasant has been with the volumes at high levels. With a good clean 3000 watts they should sound awesome at any level. And maybe they arent as speedy as maybe the 12" BL would be. They are plenty enough punchy but they try too hard to keep up with speedy drumbeats and whatnot like you would see from rock and roll. There are alot of us Texas boys that will be repazentin' before long. 4 of my friends are expected to purchase a combined amount of 10 drivers from you just from listening to my stereo. I am going to buy an 18" Q from you for HT and probably a pair of 12"s or 15"s for my little loudspeaker setup I am thinking about.

you dont need another cd-2410, do ya?
-
"If you want to know why his sub has soo much "excursion" maybe its because his subs suspension is like jello" X2, that dude blows, haha...

i would just get another Q...

Where do I start?... Well, I was looking for an all around awesome subwoofer. I wanted something that would sound pretty good, get low and be able to peel someones face off if commanded to. I had already been amazed by all the videos I had seen (especially Steve Meade's) and was looking at the different lines that were offered. I was looking more and more at the Q and BTL. I liked the looks of the Q along with the price but was abit unsure of how loud it would be in the end. The BTL was thought to be a better option considering several people said the sound quality from them was better than expected but I couldnt really see paying $100 more for a subwoofer that would probably be better in someones burp car with 4000+ watts. I really just wanted something kinda in the middle of these two. Anyway, while waiting on my income tax return I hear some good news, they have decided to add a subwoofer to their line. Right in the middle of the two I had a hard time deciding on. By this time I decided, that whatever I chose, I would get it in an 18". They just look cool and I knew the performance from Fi would be great. With all this excitement of the new line and saving some money over the BTL I decided why stop with just one... I ordered two 18" BLs with full cooling and flatwind voice coils. I have decent wood skills but im not too great at designing boxes so I got some help from Pete at Team Toxic Bass with a design. Here is a couple pics of the guts of the box. All together. Sanded. Then routered a few edges. Done and covered in dark gray vinyl. I have owned or experimented with or just listened to alot of varieties of stereos. Boston Acoustics G5s, Alpine Type-Rs, Sony Xplodes, Soundstream subs, Kicker subs, Crossfire BMF, Crossfire XT2, Digital Designs 3515, RE SX, I had 3 sealed L7s, a friend has 8 sealed Soundstream Van Goghs and 3000+ watts. Theres more, but who cares, I have loved loud stereos in houses and in cars for 10+ years. Got the BLs, put them in the box, hooked them up to a Concept CD-2410 at 1 ohm, OMFG... They are beasts, they do whatever you tell them to do. I am already on a mission to see what they can do with some real watts, more current, and a louder box. I never would have thought Metallica would sound this good on an 18", 5 years ago. I heard someone say not long ago that they used to have certain songs they would show their system off with but it is unnescessary now because everything sounds good. Well, I cant remember who said that, but I totally agree with him. Everything from Godsmack to Skynyrd to Young Jeezy to everything on the radio sounds good. And if I tell them to get loud, they do it. I could also see these subwoofers doing very well in an SPL car. There is a nice little range of frequencies that almost hurt. A couple pics of them installed. Below the window line. Nice... I will make another review or two. Still trying to think of Good, Bad and Uglies. I want to get more juice and maybe change up my box before I lay down any bad and uglies that may be found. I want to try one or both sealed down the road, also... Thanks, everyone at Fi Car Audio.

i have 2 18" BLs in a 98 grand cherokee, under the window line. its a t-line enclosure designed by TTB, though...
