    should i still consider AQ

copper coil HDC is more efficient and will get louder off less power. I've tested numerous copper/alum HDC's in diff VC configs, box sizes, and tuning. Since you plan to run 1500watts to each sub then I'd go on the "big" side of recommended enclosure specs. what size subs do you plan on getting?

    Box design for 2 aq hdc3 12s

doesn't look right. 4.5cubes net, 36Hz tuning with 16^2 port are per cube would be a 20" long port...

    New Enclosure for AQ 15's

I've done a few boxes for 15" SDC's: 8.5cubes net, 38Hz tuning with 16^2 port area per cube. They hit the lows very well and sound good on all types of music. 140+ shouldn't be a problem other then your car isn't the greatest for getting loud as I've built for a few of them and it's hard to get sound into the cabin.

    New Enclosure for AQ 15's

smallest I would go is 8^3 net and 8.5^3 would be even better. You have 10^3 to work with, so can you do external aeroports? 2 6" aero's would work. Otherwise I don't see you having room for subs/slot port and still having enough volume for the subs. AQ subs like big enclosures... 38Hz tuning is very nice on those subs and they'll still play down plenty low. Unless you mostly play C&S stuff then tune to 35Hz.

    Foaming doors for spl competition

just deaden both sides of the inner door skin and also the back of the door panel. Should be enough for a 160 vehicle. After that most guys fill them with sand/cement which isn't very practical for a daily driver... Also dbDrag lifted the limit on layers of deadener, so you can go crazy if you want. But air tight should be more important then some flex, assuming you meter sealed up. If it's USACI or MidWestSPL and you can have a door open then I wouldn't worry about it...
  6. Subs looked like rebadged Cadence stuff. Team DOA took a trip to their shop last fall since they're local. Guy who owns the place is like an infomercial and actually seems to believe his hype. Told me I would be 5-7dB's louder with his subs and also mentioned a Civic with 2 of his 15's doing a 172dB. I really wanted to do a "drop in" test in my car, but he wouldn't let me sign a waiver so I wouldn't be liable if a sub blew. I also learned that the subs have pretty much NO gap and can't be reconed. I asked him how they built them in the first place, but he couldn't answer that. They will also play under water and are so efficient you can play them off HU power. Trust me by the time he was done I was ready to buy a Shamwow....

    SAZ 1500D Enough power for a BTL15?

I'd run the amp at .5ohm assuming you're trying to get the most out of the sub and have the electrical to support the 1500 at that ohm load for daily...

best way to clean a basket for a recone

turn the chisel upside down so the angled part rides along the surface of the basket. Then a sanding roll on a die grinder or dremel to clean it up...

    DD 9518 daily driver?

Copper coil AQ HDC would do the job and take that amp all day long with proper electrical in the right enclosure. Most of the Team DOA guys run AQ/DD subs and we all have daily drivers, so the subs get abused constantly... No experience with the xcon, but it looks like a solidly built sub. DD is a nice sub, but for your goals you don't need to spend that much and don't have the power to get the full potential out of it.

    Need help choosing Subs Audioque?

I'd do 2 12" AQ SDC's in 4.5cubes @ 38Hz with 72^2 of port area. Give them 500-800watts each and enjoy. I've built several set ups with the SDC's and a ton with HDC's. AQ offers a lot for the $$$...

    audioque hdc3 18s

I've done 2 18's in 10.5^3 net tuned to 38Hz. alum coils subs getting 3kw+ each for daily. Sounds pretty good, hits low, and gets loud...51+ on music. I've also done them in 6^3 net tuned from 35-38hz. Just depends on your power level and choice of music. Tuned around 38-40Hz they will be very punchy for rock, but still hit low 30's no problem.
  12. ill be there, i completely forgot about this show when posting on this topic. Be sure to introduce yourself. Black altima with Team DOA sticker on the back is what I drive. We should have around 10 cars there. Loud daily drivers ranging from trunk cars to walls...
  13. Lots of shows in WI as I did several last year. First one of the season will be in the Madison area on April 11th. Should be 30-40 cars showing up for this one. Sound Mekanix should be putting on several shows in WI and just across the IL border this year. April 11th Show

    18 btl in a 6th order bandpass?

For louder to the ear I'd tune lower as that will "sound" louder, but probably not meter as well. You're tuned kind of high for a BTL for daily...

    4 12'' Type R's or 2 15'' HDC3

Assuming you have room for the proper sized enclosure the HDC's can get quite loud off 2 2200's. 148+ daily is possible and they can still sound good playing real music. Been playing with AQ/DD subs for a few years now and have learned a few things along the way...
  16. clipping indicator blinking is fine, just don't let it go solid red and you'll be fine. See that m5 is still the resident know it all on this forum...

    Wall design needed

If you plan to compete then I'd do 20^2 of port area per cube and tune around 43-45Hz. Then make a port reducer to lower port area/tuning for daily. Port on driver's side. And get another 3000d. I walled a 2003 Caddy last year for a team member, 2 DD9518's on 2 AQ3500's.
  18. Sleepy's Envoy and my Altima. Team DOA had 6 cars there. Was a nice show with a lot of cool people in attendance. I don't consider Lil Jon music, but that's what I metered with. Gain .9dB on a tone sealed up, but haven't tried it on the dash with door open like at this show. Your truck was quite impressive. We plan to make a few more shows next year. Fur and blue led's add the dB's LOL

    songs??

Push That peaks at 43Hz, use it for bass race. Just because you're tuned to 33Hz doesn't mean your car peaks there. Need to do a sweep on a TL and find out where you peak...

4th order or 6th order bandpass

port area is way too small and tuning is too low for SPL. Build a new box around 12cubes with 20^2 of port per cube tuned 40-45Hz. Make a port reducer to drop port area to around 12-14^2 per cube and drop tuning into the 30's for daily/sq. I've built a LOT of DD/AQ boxes and set them up that way when possible...

    Fi Bl or AQ hdc3

Both are solid subs as I've built enclosures for a few BL's and numerous HDC's. HDC's will get plenty loud off 1200+ watts, just that they'll take 2k+ in the proper set up, so people assume that they "need" a lot of power. Could also consider a Q as I run one in the GF's car off a Sundown 1500 and it sounds good and gets plenty loud for her.

    LOUD SOUND QUALITY options

I'll throw out a few more choices: 18" HDC with alum coils in 5 1/2-6cubes tuned to 38Hz. Or if you want to use both amps then 2 12" HDC's with alum coils in 4cubes @ 38Hz. I've had very good luck with the HDC's for daily music listening and getting very loud when I'm in the mood. Dialing back the remote gain and EQ'ing down 31.5/50Hz really makes them blend well with my front stage and makes them sound very tight/accurate. Then I can crank things up and they'll pound you in the chest... I run 3.5k on each of my HDC's with no issues. I mostly listen to rock/metal and they take the power no sweat.
