What kind of power would I be looking at with 2 1500D's strapped at 3ohms? I've got an HD315 DVC .75ohm each. I can either run the amps at .75 or 1.5 each. This is a daily driver, no burps, played reasonably loud 90% of the time. Friday's after work it gets played stupidly loud, so I can unwind on the 20 minute ride home. That's the longest amount of time I play it that loud, usually around 20 minutes. I don't really understand impedence rise, but I know it will effect what the amp really sees. That's why I wonder if .75ohm per amp would be ok for my situation. Or would 1.5 each be safer? If so would it be that much of an increase in power over my current single amp at .75ohms? Found a good deal on a new amp, so I'm considering picking it up and would like to use it now instead of waiting for the next vehicle/2nd sub as that's a few years off. I've heard of several guys throwing 2-3k daily at the HD3, so I want to give it try Electrical: EA 200amp alt - 14.5v at idle, but haven't measured with the system up loud. Ask and ye shall receive. It's finally done. I wasn't happy with how it looked with the big bare front, so came up with this last night. Think it looks pretty nice now. Let me know what you guys think. I hope the owner will be happy. I made about $1 an hour on this build, but had fun Flash tends to wash things out, but it was too dark without it.

If you stack them I would put the 100.2 on the bottom as it shouldn't give off as much heat as the 1500D. You could also get a few 12v "computer" fans to blow across the heatsinks...

I'm guessing he means "window" bracing, like this. Ties all the sides together, so VERY strong. But I also did double thick walls just to be sure.

If you get the EP2500 and don't think it's enough power, let me know as I'd probably pick it up from you as it should be perfect for my RL-P's...

Possibly major air leaks in the box, tuning isn't what you thought it was, sub wired up wrong?? Why did you go with a 25Hz tune? Just asking as I'm not familiar with what guys are tuning the MJ's to for HT. "Most" DIY HT subs are usually tuned under 20Hz it seems...

No problem...happy building!!

Ordered the 2nd 1500D today, via Denim and the SSA store. GREAT person to deal with, I HIGHLY recommend them!!!! Looking forward to seeing what the HD does on 2500+ watts

That's what the guy wanted. I would have preferred to do a single port along the bottom as it would have been easier. I normally use subwoofertools for most boxes, but had to do this one the "hard" way. I used this calculator: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 Once you have the port size you calculate how much space it will take up inside the box, then go from there.

Couple of finished pics. NOT show quality, but a nice street beater box for sure. I painted it with a 9" roller, but the flash is showing some streaks on the right side. You don't see them normally though.

x2 If your box is tuned to 34Hz, why are you setting your HPF (assuming you're using it as a SSF) to 60Hz. No wonder you're getting no lows. I built a 3.5^3 @32Hz box for the GF's car and it hits plenty low, so I don't think it's your box, it's your amp settings.

I just finished 2 10^3 @19Hz enclosures a few weeks ago. Only feeding each sub 400watts and these things have amazing impact and detail and sound very good for music. If you're a super low freq junky then do the 14.5Hz tune that SS recommends. I personally don't need my house shaking that badly and also like the dB boost for music with the higher tune.

I'm also considering one to power 2 RL-P's, so I'm hoping Lukas and I can get some real world feedback. What you planning on powering with it? I'm using an older Hypex HS500 that Adire used to sell, rated for 800watts @4ohms and seems to be doing it as these subs hit VERY hard.

Finally got the enclosures finished and in the house. Each box is 10^3 @19Hz with a single 8" port and RL-P 15. Port fires up and subs are down firing. I'm about 50/50 HT and music, so I think the higher tune is a good balance. So far I've been VERY impressed and the subs are only getting 400watts each off a Hypex plate amp. Couldn't imagine what 800+ to each one would sound like. Music has punch, hits low, and gets plenty loud with excellent SQ. Has no trouble keeping up with 6 Klipsch Legends. Also got to demo the depth charge scene from U-571 tonight. Neighbor was over and his jaw hit the floor. Much louder than the 4 Tempests they replaced. GF said the whole house felt like it was going to fall apart. PERFECT!!!!! Only took a few pics during the build process as it was usually way late and I was just trying to get them done. Definitely an upgrade and was a fun project. Now it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies with my new twin beasts in the house.

Jake, Thanks for the response. Always nice to hear from the man himself. Sub is a DVC 1.5ohm, so I "assumed" I wire it in series for 3ohm, or .75ohm if in parallel (that's how I have it wired now). Then each amp would see 1/2 of the final load. Is that correct? No info on the AQ site on whether it's nominal or DCR. The 2600 at 3ohms sounds tempting and would be less abuse on the amps.

The 100.4 has bandpass capabilities, using the SSF, so that might be all you need to go active. I've never looked at the crossover points it offers and don't know what drivers you plan on using though...

Only took a few shots of the actual box build as I just didn't feel like stopping to take pics. 45's in the corners and strap braces on all walls, plus double front baffle. Box is plenty solid.

11ply BB as that's all the local HD carries. Thanks for the compliments. I figure you either love or hate the look as it SURE isn't gray carpet

Pseudo triple baffle for flush mount look. Blue looks awesome in person, sort of like the ocean where the wood grain shows through. I'll get a chance to lean on it tomorrow on the way to work. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out since I had no plan, just wanted it to look different and that it does...

Wired up and ready for a test run. Unfortunately it was 2am, so I took it easy as I actually like a few of my neighbors

Amp in place....

Mounting the amp rack...

Box is 4.5^3 @35Hz, with 76^2 port. Sub is dual 1.5ohm, so running the SD @.75ohm.

Box dropped in easily which was a pleasant surprise.

I'm also digging the naked look. LOL Gave them a real workout tonight. Depth charge scene again, AC/DC "Stiff Upper Lip" DTS DVD, and some music off the PC. Listened to the music in 7 channel stereo to recreate the dance club effect. OMFG was it loud and clean sounding. Depth charges knocked 2 pictures off the wall and a huge pillar candle off a shelf. AC/DC was just like sitting in the front row, as I've done that back in the day a few times when I was young and foolish. I must say that I now officially have a "STUPIDLY" loud system in my house when I have the desire to crank it up. Subs keep up no problem and just pump out clean, chest punching, wall shaking bass. Not sure I'll ever put 800+ watts to each one. Lovin these RL-P's all over again. GREAT product and customer service!!!!!
