Will one get damaged? maybe Could one get damaged? Yes Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm gonna have to stick to sealed enclosures.

Fi X Series 12" prefab sealed box

Actually Image Dynamics is not closed. The guy who founded the company decided to leave because of problems with co-owners, and it does not change the fact that they make good products. I can't go ported because I don't want to sacrifice the space in my trunk. I'm not after shattering windows with dbs, I just want some lows. Thanks for the input! I'm defiantly getting the BP option and I'm gonna lower the gains on my amp accordingly. I'm thinking the 0.749 cu ft box would be too small because after displacement of the sub it would only be 0.669 cu ft and that is smaller volume than your 10" X. Anyone else has any other opinions on which box I should get for 12" Fi X?

Fi X Series 12" prefab sealed box

Hello everyone. I'm in the process of building a small budget system and I want to get the Fi X 12" as my sub in a sealed enclosure. It will get power from Crescendo 1000C4(~500W bridged). I know that the recommended enclosure size ranges from 0.6-1.1 cuft but I don't know if I should go with a larger(1.158 cu ft.) sealed box or a smaller one(0.749 cu ft.). I listen to dubstep, rap(eminem) and rock. I want the sub to have good amount of output and produce good lows. Here are the enclosures that I'm looking at: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7589_Sonic-Sub-Box-1H12-0.7-Gray.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7590_Sonic-Sub-Box-1H12-1.0-Black.html So which enclosure is right for me? Also, how would the Fi X Series 12" compare to Image Dynamics IDQ12 V3? IDQ gets recommended a lot for sealed enclosures but it cost's a bit more than I want to spend. Thanks in advance!

I'm very glad that stumbled upon this thread because I'm in the same boat. I already bought the crescendo 1000c4 and I was thinking of using two channels for components and the other two channels bridged for a 10" DCON but after seeing this thread I'm a bit skeptical about getting the DCON. I wanted to build 1.0 cu ft box and tune it to 30. I did some research and some people say you need the SSF and others say you don't need it because most regular music doesn't have crazy lows that can damage a sub. I listen to rap(Eminem), dubstep, some pop and rock. I will most likely keep my gains down because my car has a 70 amp alternator. Will a DCON get damaged in my situation? Thanks in advance.
