Which is better for alpine MRP-M2000? 18" BTL dual1 or dual 2?
Fi Car Audio replied to DBZ's topic in General Fi
They seem to be Ok on the power side of things from what customers have said. Just the big issue for me is the lack of a good filter. if you tune 33-34 youll be fine with the amp set to 30 on the filter. Thanks, Scott -
As Nick mentioned the 909er flat bills are in the works (sorry SoCal folks with my dig;) ) We do have limited 4X sizes in shirts. We do not post them as our coding doesnt allow exclusionary specifics on items... but normally in hoodies (grey and black) the Vegas, City, and the black shirt lines we have them. Lots more stuff done or in the works. As coding and time permit (beanies done, Fi logo belts done...trucker hats in 8 colors with any choice of another 10 colors of logos). Thanks, Scott

I think BTL15s ship at 71 lbs packed. Fairly heavy of a sub... and our back pain on a daily basis proves it Thanks, Scott

Not to bash another companies products, but this goes to all amplifier manufacturers that build large amps without a truly adjustable subsonic filter... stop it. You are doing a great disservice to your customers with ported applications. While the MRP M2000 has a selectable filter for 15 Hz (useless) and 30Hz (good for 33-34Hz tunings) you have no true adjustability to it for the other 90% of applications. For this amp you will need the D1 coils wired in series for a single 2 Ohm load. Please tune accordingly and put the filter on the 30Hz setting. Do not use any boost on the headunit or amp either... Thanks, Scott -
I do feel the need to chime in on this as well. I do understand that we loose business in not having a phone, but as mentioned above, we would definitely loose significantly more business in the long run in having a phone line that is attended to by someone that does not have the ability to answer all questions. I have been in this position with a previous company and ended up being on the phone 10 hours out of an 8 hour work day... getting nothing accomplished in the meantime that related to designing or producing the products I was answering the phone for. This was with 3 lines constantly full and annoyed people waiting on them until I could attend to them. I have learned to pick and choose my battles with the phone and spending 10 hours with one customer over a weeks time about an 8" bottom line speaker and all other aspects of his system to have him buy another brands 8", use one of the 10 enclosures I specifically designed, and not make the $15 profit off of that 8" driver sale makes no sense... and this is not an isolated case, but the norm. With Nick and myself, we do know and understand all aspects of business and do realize that we loose business because of not having a Fi specific line. But it has to be an accepted loss by us considering the alternative. So while it sounds awful to say that we are knowingly loosing you as a customer since we do not have a phone line. But the fact of the matter is we would loose 10 others to the current 1 in having one with an idiot answering, or having us answer and take care of everything at a level expected or needed... yet not have us working on new designs, picking up slack for employees absent, or simply "working" with the other employees because we are swamped with sales. Until a time comes where we can find other local employees that know everything that comes their way on a Fi phone line, we simply wont have one. Ill take the small .22lr round to the foot instead of the .50 to the head Thanks, Scott

Not seeing anything can you send it to ascendantaudio "@" hotmail.com then?

I highly doubt its tinsel slap as we have integrated leads... so not an issue there if done by us. Not sure if we reconed it or sent out a kit... if someone else reconed it I cant vouch for their ability to align or set things up properly. What is the amps subsonic filter set too? With a 40Hz tuning and a 2.5cuft box (which is the upper end of our recommendations) subsonic filtering is critical. I would have the amps filter set no lower than 37Hz given the enclosure sizing. We will get this one figured. Thanks, Scott

We always hate to hear that. We want things to go out the door and never come back... means people are happy and product is durable. We absolutely test every driver with a full range sine sweep at a power rating depending on the driver series. All drivers are tested free air to ensure no rub, buzz, or any other issues and that each coil is properly functioning. Did the box come in looking like an elephant sat on it or was it looking OK? Do you still have the original packaging? If so we can get UPS to pick it back up and get it back to us to test. We will repair or replace it ASAP. Thanks, Scott

IB3 wont work, but SSD would with the copper coil. Thanks, Scott

Not a distinct difference on the lows. While I do tell people not to order it at times as its an extra expense that may not have a realized benefit for their specific application, no one seems to listen and they order it anyway. Unless you need a little extra thermal capacity (which the cooling adds significantly than the ring) I wouldnt worry about it. We do have some specific customers that absolutely do need it. A couple of them use them for pro sound applications where they want the drivers to play higher and will take any extra thermal capacity that they can take. Thanks, Scott

Not sure if people were sleeping or the economy was different when we had them there and people looked past them. All that bought them were exceedingly happy with the performance. Given how fast the last of the Xs went (and oversold due to a site glitch) we are pulling out the gen 2 version of the motor from the dustpile and getting those going for 2010. We will have options available for these and the motor looks like a mini-BTL. I was happy in testing the proto about a year and a half back... now with economy it seems a lower priced driver with solid performance makes sense. Thanks, Scott

Please send email to scott at ficaraudio dot com and I will send you via email a number to call to place the order. Definitely busy with a couple of key people gone for holidays and lots of orders and OEM stacking up at the end of the year. Thanks and happy holidays, Scott

Whats the major diff between a 15" FI BTL and a 15" Ascendant
Fi Car Audio replied to smullen's topic in General Fi
Motors share no common parts, although I designed them to be similar in purpose and ability. Mayhem comes with full cooling and high xmax coil as standard. There are several differences between the two, but a similar common goal. Future models will be even further apart. Thanks, Scott -
Waiting for trucking company confirmation... we want to get these things in and get going again. If they do arrive today we will be pulling extra shifts to get them done and as many out by end of today and before last UPS pickup tomorrow. Otherwise balance of subs will go out following week. Sorry I cant be more specific than that, but until magnets are in my hands its hard to say. Thanks, Scott

Please get the sub back to us to check out. Fi Car Audio Attn:Warranty 5450 Cameron St #104,103,102 Las Vegas NV 89118 Please be sure to include a sheet of paper with your name, address, phone, and email so we can have a tech contact you. MRDs or any amps with preset or no subsonic filter will allow for problems to arise with high excursion subs in ported applications. We always recommend an amp with an adjustable filter, or some other sort of processing with an adjustable filter. Makes things last MUCH longer. Thanks, Scott

DCPowerinc.com I swear by their alts. Also look to MissinglinkAudio.com for a control mod for your vehicle to boost voltage. I agree with most above... that much money for 3dB isnt justified to me for most daily applications. Id run what you have and focus on electrical before anything else. Thanks and happy holidays, Scott

Steves been playing with the 4 18s in the Tahoe for a couple of days and is exceedingly happy with them. Looks good for CES and the Jan 1st drop date for the new line 22" will depend on sales through the first quarter 2010 for the 18" and 15". Same goes for the 12".

Plenty of chips machined off some steel. Like Nick said, dealers will be able to get them on the 1st of Jan (15" and 18"). Depending on how well they do the first quarter, more sizes will be available from there. Im sure Steve will post pics of the protos he is playing with soon enough. Couple of small differences between his and production... worst case scenarios for testing and no rear mounting stud. Thanks, Scott

Second batch hit docks in LA today. Waiting for things to clear customs and should have them in on the 23rd. We are already set to run two 10hour machine shop shifts to get as many knocked out as possible. We will have normal night shift for assembly running as well so morning guys will have plenty to pack. We will try as hard as possible to get things knocked out before we close on the 24th at 3PM . We will get the balance done ASAP the following week. Thanks, Scott
