SXs arent optimal in sealed at all... What recone parts did I send?
-
Subs done and will go out to you tomorrow. I did not get a chance to machine the aluminum compression plug before I left, so it had to wait until this morning. Now tell me what you were powering it with again cause it was rather beat and the former was turning gold. Thanks, Scott

Im getting pics and some info together right now... although I need to eat something too Ill be back on later tonight with pics and some specs for everything. I spoke with Mark at SSA today and Im going to forward him the info as well so that they can make provisions on the site to sell a thing or two. Back in a while.

I believe that you are the one that UPS had issue with delivering (apparently the label fell off or was unreadable for whatever reason). It appears that you have contacted them as of this morning and that the package is set for delivery to you with the correct address. I am very sorry for the shipping issues and will follow this one closely to make sure it is received.

Back in town and sorting through all the fun stuff that happened (or didnt happen) while I was gone. Ill run through all the posts on the forum later tonight. Gotta head to the shop now Thanks, Scott

Well cr@p... I just returned from being out of the country and expected to see the site up. Apparently it isnt Ill post up info later today and sort through why it isnt up. I received a few email my from the web designer saying that the FTP info wouldnt work. I had forwarded it to him about 15 minutes before I left out of town, so things simply got cut too close time wise. Be back on after work with either pics and info to the forum, or a working site. Thanks, Scott

lol... I love IB applications, but currently dont have an HT room that I could stick them in. I have finalized a nice little IB15" with 23 mm of Xmax (Xmech limited not Xmag) that will be -cheap-. A pair has more Vd than a Q18, is more efficient, has a flatter IB response, and costs a fair amount less. IB seems to be making a come back in SQ circles, which I couldnt be happier with. We are doing quite a few custom IB Qs for the Hybrid Audio/ Scott Buwalda camp as well. Just had a customer order a dozen Q18s for a HT IB setup. Cant wait to see some pics and measurements of that one

Should actually work well in that. How much power are you wanting to use? Id recommend either the standard SSDs (I currently use a pair of standard 10s sealed in one of my vehicles), the copper coiled SSDs for a little deeper response and lower qtc, or the Q10s if you have more power. Thanks, Scott

It is not a night and day difference between the SPL and daily version TS wise. It can be night and day due to the tolerence differences for higher excursion daily applications though. I do need to make an ammendment to the SPL/Daily description as well since I get many people asking about Bassrace. Since it is music, it still falls under daily and not SPL. SPL is for a 2 second burp on a tone and really doesnt matter longevity wise as a whopping 2 minutes of competition adds up to 40-60 burps. All it is between the two is a tolerence/machining change. SPL is tight, daily is not as tight (but still not as wide as a Q). Still working on a JimJ approved sub that can handle the power/abuse of a BTL

We are working hard on getting everything going for the 4th... I hope everything for the site is finished at that point. Just running through specs and content right now. Setting up the new warehouse next week as well as production. We are still missing a couple of parts so we will see what all will be ready for sale shortly after that (magnet boots for Aresenals, dustcaps for Assassin 8s, 18" Havoc dustcaps... little bits and pieces that are on their way in but most likely wont be by the 4th). Thanks, Scott

Not my worry anymore if peanuts are sent to RE...lol But when I was there youd better believe Id yell. I hated when UPS left a trail of peanut bits from some ripped open box through my shop. Or when the workers would rip things open and they blow everywhere... or when I have 56 of them shoved up a pole vent on a "warranty" sub that we cant tell if its fine or not since all I hear is peanuts rattling around inside and shoved in the gap... or when the peanuts tried to take over the world... I hate foam peanuts

Im not too biased... I designed both subs and now run Ascendant...lol It just seems like from the overall description that the Q might be a better fit. If any other bran would be a better bet, Id say so as well... Id rather have someone happy in general (with a more suitable product) than purchase something from me and it not do what they are looking for. Thanks, Scott

I havent measured any roll off until a fair amount above where you should be crossing things (80Hz+). With the sealed SSDs you will gain ouput in that region and loose some where the current setup peaks and is tuned to... then itll pick up again on the ultra low stuff. Itll be a flatter overall response than the ported Q, and it seems like itd get you closer to what you are looking for... but I do agree with JimJ in that it might be a lack of midbass up front. Are you measuring a drop in teh 45-65 range with a meter? Or is this where you feel it is lacking? Over the years I have had many people tell me a sub lacks this and that... and what it comes down to with punch and attack 9/10 is a lack of a solid midbass upfront to really pull things forward. Thanks, Scott

We will get rolling on it on Monday. Thanks, Scott

6.6 at 33 will peak up around 45 Hz. If you can squeeze out 8cuft at 30 Hz... I think you will be happier with a little more depth slightly flatter response. Coming off of sealed Qs is hard... but you will be MUCH louder. Dual tune at 45 Hz might be nice to... will peak hard around the vehicles resonant frequency for those occassional SPL runs Thanks, Scott

Please email me your postal code and what you are interested in and we can get you a shipping difference quoted. At that point you can order via Paypal or the super secret Canadian order hotline number for credit and debit cards Thanks, Scott

With the AVA and XBL motor there is VERY little that can be done to it other than stock. When I designed that motor I did it specifically for the AVA line and not as a universal motor. Also, the XBL motors require VERY specific coil lengths... which sticks you to only certains sized coils. Very nice sub, but not much can be done after the fact to alter its performance. Thanks, Scott

It is next to impossible to get a soft topped vehicle loud... better if it has a hard top to the Jeep. (4)15s sealed would be louder from about 45Hz on up and about 30 Hz on down (assuming an averaged SSD enclosure tuned to 33). If you add the second amp into the mix, then the 4 SSDs sealed would be louder overall... reproducing the same output near the porteds tuning, and then about 6dB more elsewhere. Thanks, Scott
-
Agreed with Denim... SSD with flatwind would take the power. Or if you want to spend a little more, then the Q might be the all around better choice given the power of the amp (strong little amp) Thanks, Scott
