    Reconing Clif CD120C

It looks Chinese to me, but it might not be... I know the basket, but havent really seen any US production with a chrome one. The toolng is available for it in China, but there is a design patent on it from the original designer here in the US The only way I for me to know what I can do to it is to have it in house to see and measure from. Is it blown?

Sent... Ill get the tracker and forward it to you. Thanks, Scott

    Can I change my order?

Not really... they do sometimes have wear marks when pushed really hard, but this doesnt hinder the performance either. If you cant hear it... I probably wouldnt worry too much Thanks, Scott

$75 for the kit plus shipping. Sorry for the delay. All sales emails are cleared up, but I will check in the spam folder as well...

    oz matrix power recone

Cool... while the specific soft parts arent going to take any more power... the geometry will lend itself to it. A 12" or 15" will be easy enough to do. Ill let you know when it arrives. Thanks, Scott

I think i made a mistake on my box

Hmmm... that might be an option. How far is sub from the port?

    BL box

No, the program takes into account driver displacement, so the numbers are correct. Only real issue with the program is the fact that port area is based off of Xmax so you dont have a simple way of overriding their sizing/recommendation. Id say youd be fine with just the pole chamfer as well if its only doing 1250W. More, and Id look to the cooling or flatwind to pick up the balance.

    10" BL vs 10" Q

Fast beats is debatable as the BL seems pretty good on doubled up stuff as well. Q has more linear excursion and bottom end performance than the BL. But the BL can handle more abuse mechincally due to the beefed up suspension.

    Which subs?

bdawson72... you know me and my ratings. Gotta stick to my guns As for the RF or Kicker, both are solid amps and would do well with a pair of BLs. While not as much power as a pair of the other amps, if you can get a really good deal on them, Im sure youd be happy with their performance. The only issue those amps have is the lack of an adjustable subsonic filter. Both are set rather low and at too low of a filter slope as well. Most people simply deal with it, or some add an additional filter like one of the Harrison F Mods or one of their new adjustable F mods. If you are active and have some EQ ability (either a standard multiband EQ or a parametric filter, you can do the same thing). Thanks, Scott

18 Q Sealed or Ported for SQ

At 7 cuft tuned to 28 Hz (I pushed it a little lower to flattne the response a little more) you will be about 4 dB up on the sealed enclosure. 4+ at 40, 2.5 at 50 and 2 at 60... about even at 70. The ported enclosure will definitely be louder, but itll have a bass hump in the 30-60 range vs a relatively flat and more natural response from sealed. Thanks, Scott

    FIRING UP OR FOWARD?

Often in trunk cars sub and port back is the way to go. Im assuming that you can fit a 40" X 22" X22" box through the trunk opening??? How much clearance and space top to bottom, front to back, and side to side does this give you? I have seen plenty of people that max out their trunk space and the box fits so tight under the rear deck that they trap a good portion of the sound in the trunk... trunk rattles like crazy and would be very loud for whatever kidnapped person was stuck in it... but not so much in the cabin. Plenty of space for a single BL18 though. Thanks, Scott

    oz matrix power recone

Yes, please send it on in and we can see what coils we can fit in there. I do love their "3" peak to peak excursion"... exceedingly wishfull thinking given that it is a 10" basket with what appears to be a 1/2" spacer for the dual spiders. I have mentioned before how the 10" subs have geometry issues, and they simply made it worse by getting rid of 1/2" of rearward clearance with the spacer (yes spaced spiders are a good thing and help with stability, but on this basket, it comes at the expensive of rearward clearance and excursion as well... maybe 2" of p-p). Fi Car Audio Attn: Recone 5480 Cameron St #107 Las Vegas NV 89118 Please be sure to include your name, address, phone, and email so that once its received we can contact you about what we can do to the sub. Thanks, Scott

    oz matrix power recone

Not sure if I can recone that one or not. Like most things... if its standard US sized coil IDs, then I definitely can. Looks like gravity got the better of that basket

  17. Fi Car Audio

    Which subs?

Id stay away from a pair of Qs if you are going to have that much power. The BLs with cooling and flatwind coils would definitely be the way to go. They will take the power much better. Thanks, Scott

How to ship back damaged sub?

lol... Im not a fan of humidity. We have actually had some with the little bit of rain we have had over the past week or two. Ill take 115 with no humidity over 80 with 100% any day. Let me know when your in town next time.

    First IB attempt

I absolutely love IB HT setups. But I can see where you would have issue with the vibrations in the drop ceiling. But... even with the BFD you still have a low qts setup with the Assassins. I would look to find a driver with a higher qts of .55-.65 for a solid IB setup. You will have the same issues with using the Brahmas for IB subs as well. Their Qts is too low to be a great candidate even though they have plenty of linear excursion. Pics of the sealed box?
  20. Fi Car Audio

    Which subs?

Yes, in most cases the pair of Q15s would be louder than the single BTL18 with that amount of power. You definitely have the space to do justice to either setup. But... with 1500-1700w a pair of SSDs might fit the bill better as well and save you some $$$ at the same time.

Little tears in spiders of my Btl 15's

Its hard for me to keep the customer names and forum names straight half the time...lol Just keep beating on the sub. It wont mind the spider tears. We normally use a 5 spider combination on the BTLs now. Seems to provide the best durability. Some SPL apps have even more. Having wear, cracks, tears, or anything in 1 spider wont amount to much in the grand scheme of things. Just keep punishing it Things sound OK so far?
  22. Fi Car Audio

Just wanna say thanks and probs to Scott and the guys.

Glad it arrived in good shape. Please let us know how it sounds/works when you get things going. As for the felt, we use them on all of the daily subs. SPL is optional.

18 Q Sealed or Ported for SQ

lol... that is exactly what I drive Im a big fan of sealed for clean/SQ oriented applications. But I have noticed that most people tend to favor the bloated bottom end of a ported enclosure. If output is a concern, ported will get you there with a larger box. Sealed will have a more natural response curve when cabin gain is factored in and will still be loud overall... just not as "fat" around tuning like a ported enclosure.

    kicker zx1000.1 w/ Fi 15" BL

Should make for a solid setup with that amp. Pole chamfer should be enough with that power. Thanks, Scott
