new amp for my xxx 12" on $350 limit
02BlackOnBlackSS replied to freaky_behavior's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
How about a PG tantrum 1200.1. They do a good 1400 watts. -
http://www.speakerbuilder.net/web_files/default.htm There's the site I was talking about.

Nice... What are you gonna power that thing with?

I think essentially any sub would sound nice in a 4th order bandpass, as long as the enclosure is designed for the speaker. The only exception I could see here is if the sub's Q is bad for the enclosure.
-
If you won't be watching movies with the setup, I would go with a stereo/sub setup. Look for some plans for towers that fit your room size and I would look at the new ascendant audio subs for your subwoofer needs. They look really nice and have xbl^2.

I just built a computer for my dad: AMD 64 3500+ Asus K8V Deluxe Mobo 2 Gigs of Corsair XMS series RAM Pair of 160 gig Western Digital Caviar HD's on RAID 0 Gigabit ATI Radeon X800PRO Pioneer 12x DVD+-R/RW Plextor Burner -
First off, I would get a new reciever. Get one with a 5.1 setup because more than that just gets rediculous. You will essentially need a pair of towers, a center channel, and a subwoofer. You should strongly consider a pair of surround speakers also. The subwoofer will need a plate amp. When you pick out your towers, it is important to get them to blend with the center channel nicely. This usually means using the same drivers. I would look for a setup with 2 6.5"s and a horn for each driver. The surrounds don't matter as much, so I would go with a 4" full range or a 4" and a tweeter. I used to have a webpage with a bunch of DIY plans for all of these with a parts list from parts express and crossover assembly instructions. I will look for this for you. I can't help out very much more than these basics, and like Nick said, I wouldn't do a pure DIY setup due to crossover designs, I would go with somebody elses design that has been proven to work. If you do want to customize everything for your room, do a lot of studying on crossovers because they are essential for a nice sounding home system. Try www.hometheaterforum.com . Lots of great information to be found there.

Hmm... Lighter than the XXX? I have 4.5 cubes and 50 sq inches of port, looking for a pretty light setup, I have an Orion 2500D to power it, it moves a bunch and should be louder than my XXX... seems like I am getting somewhere. Maybe if it fits I may be selling my 15" XXX and getting one. Quite a novel idea.

Hey George, maybe you need to pay me to install it all since you don't have any free time and I have a lot. Just an idea. -
I can't wait until the Pioneer iPod adapter comes out. I can't afford a new Benz.

iPod Shuffle
02BlackOnBlackSS replied to Aaron Clinton's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
How to hack and iPod into iPod Shuffle: Now erase all but 240 of your songs. Looks pretty cool, and really small too. If I only had the use for 512 mb of space, I would have gotten it. Nicely priced at 99 bucks. -
edit: nevermind, I don't know what I am talking about edit again: They look to be the 2002 version of the punch HX2... Seeing as how this years punch HX2's go for about 150 and have better technology, I wouldn't get them.

Any specs on that amp? I haven't heard of it. -
I haven't tested that out yet, lol. Tell Cody that I will keep hasseling the guy until he gives me word on the prices and some pics of the smoked mirror emblems. Tirefryr, I think it would look a bit plain with no emblems... Thanks for the compliments guys.
