According to SI's Mag webpage, the current one (Well, most current) is the fourth version. I know about the "Claw" Mag, and the (most) current Mag D2, but what are the other two versions? So how can I tell if I have the fourth generation Mag and not the third? And to the best of my knoledge, the Claw can't be paired with the Mag that's out, and both of them can't be paired with a triple stacked Mag that's coming out. Does the other two versions work with any of these mentioned. Also, Now that the new triple stacked Mag is making it's debut soon, what are we going to call the one that's out now? The first Mag is the Claw Mag, and the new one will be the new Mag. So what do we call the middle Mag now?

The different Mags through the years
king alpha replied to king alpha's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
So is it like this? 1st Mag - Claw Mag 2nd Mag - Different basket Mag with Magnum Logo 3rd Mag - Same as 2nd Mag but with no Logo (and this is the stolen one) 4th Mag - the one I have with "Stereo Integrity" Logo 5th Mag - Triple stacked Mag that's not out yet Can the first three Mags work together? And it sucks to hear about those stolen Mags. Who knows, maybe they put some Logo on it and sold it, and some kid thinks he has some generic brand sub that kicks ass. -
Sweet. And Thanks again. Hopefully my box building skills can make the box the way I want it so the speaker actually fits. Also, I have to apologize to the nice people of Fi for bothering them for quotes on a Q or SSD, and also the nice people of SSA for getting quotes on an Icon and a pair of Sound Splinter RLi-8s. I'll definetly consider you guys if I ever install a new sound system.

I need to know the diameter of the bottom part of a 12" Mag's motor. If all go as planned (which is now my 7th plan), the box is going in a sealed box to fit in hear: http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/571/166973.jpg http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/571/166974.jpg http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/571/166975.jpg The bottom slopes and I didn't take that into acount in my first few designs. I'm planning something like this (side view): http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/572/179813.jpg And if the diameter of the bottom is more then 4", it will hit the bottom board. And I"ll have to look for another driver.

I edited the picture to something a little better. Anyway, that's a 2007 Toyota Rav4. That's where the seats fold into on the models with the third row seating option. The well is about 36"x19". The depth is about 10" and it slopes to 8" to the rear of the Rav (that's why my box I'm planning is shaped that way). I'm giving it about 1.5" from the top of the box to the bottom of the floor cover that cover's that hole. (I'm hoping 1.5" is good enough for the Mag when it's moving) so my box is about 35"x18"x8"(back) and 6"(front). And Tirefryr, thanks for offering to measure it. My Mags in my 95 Mustang. And my Mustang is in a shop. And I won't get it back for a little while.

I went from a pair of JL 12W6v1s sealed to a single Mag 12 ported. the Mag is as loud as the old W6s. I'm not sure if it can take a pair of V2s though, so I think I'll go with the JLs (but I've never heard the v2s. For you info)

The OP said he didn't want to spend more then 350 for a pair of 10s. Where can I find a pair of BMs for $350? My plan of putting my Mag into my new car won't work because of Mouting Depth issues. I'm currently looking at a pair of RLi-10s, but if I can get BMs for less then $400, then I'll go that way.

According to the website: Optimal Car: 0.65 cu ft net volume sealed 0.55 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 32 Hz Is this right? This is the first time I see a vented box with a smaller net volume then a sealed box. If I end up with a RLi-10 and go with a ported box tuned to 32 Hz, the net volume would be about 0.8 ft^3. How would having a larger net volume effect the sound of the sub? And one more question to the actual Sound Splinter guys. Can you tell me what the shipping cost of a RLi-10 to zip code 96819 (Honolulu, Hawaii). EDIT: I just notice this on the same page: Acceptable: 0.4 - 0.95 cu ft net volume sealed 0.6 - 1.2 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 22 - 34 Hz I'm guessing the .55 cu ft is a typo?

What shops are you talking about?

Does box tuning stay the same with different drivers?
king alpha posted a topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I have a box in my Mustang that's 2.5 ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz that's used fo my 12" Mag D2. If I just swtich out the Mag D2 with a 12" Fi Q, would the tuning still be 32 Hz, or am I missing something? -

So my box is more 33 Hz the 32 Hz. Can you explain to me how you got that so I can educate myself (or at least point me to a website that explains it). thanks again. -

Hey, are you one of the guys who was giving the Low-Hz guy a hard time? Ben's the one who gave me the box specs for the Mag I got from him, and since I got it from him I built the box that way. The box he told me to do was a ported box that's 2.5 ft^3 after displacement and port with 20 in^2 of vent, and the port being 16" long. Now, I understand you and Ben disagree on buisness stuff(which I do not want to be a part of), but I just want to know if his specs actually is a box tuned to about 32Hz. I have no idea how that chit works, and I noticed that he gave me a small vent size and a short port length compared with other boxes. I thought I can get your opinion on the box. Thanks. -
It's not that easy actually. The Massive P1500.1 he has is blown. If you guys would have said the 1500 is a lot better then the 1000, then I would have got the broken 1500 for cheap and have it fixed. Hell, I didn't really ask, but I might be able to get the 1500 for free because it's broken. We've been good friends since the 1st grade, and we're pushing 30 now, and he dosn't have any subs to use it for. He had the 1500 powering a pair of 12" Massive CWs in his Scion Tc, but just two weeks ago traded in the Tc for a Civic SI. And he left the Massive subs in the Tc. He did take out the Massive amp though. So maybe I'll still try and get it from him.

I'm currently in the process of moving my 12" Mag D2 from my Mustang to my Rav4. In my Mustang, the Mag is in a 2.5 ft^3 Ported box tuned to about 32 Hz and powered with a Massive P1000.1 that's rated at 880 Watts RMS @ 1 ohm. When it goes into the Rav4, it's going to be in a 1.3 ft^3 Sealed box. I'm planning on using the same amp. But my buddy has a Massive P1500.1 amp that's rated at 1250 Watts RMS @ 1 ohm. I can buy it from him. I'm sure 880 Watts is good to power the Mag in a sealed enclosure, but I was wondering if the extra 370 Watts would give the Mag more output that's is audiable in a sealed box. And would a Mag want more power in a 1.3 ft^3 Sealed box?

That was quick. Thanks!

For the SSA and Fi guys who I've been emailing inquiring about an Icon and Q, looks like this guys going to make my decission for me. I do want to read a review putting the Icon against the Mag though. I have a Mag, so it gives me some perspective.

For some stupid reason, I thought that school was in town. So, I went to the wrong school. I didn't find out until later that King is in Kaneohe. I haven't been on that side of the island in ages. And yeah, we sell those styrofoam peanuts. It might have been me that sold it to you. There's only three people working there. A Japanese guy, a Filipino guy, and a Chinese girl. I'm the Filipino guy.

Off topic, but I always wondered why some people called the Mag a "Magnum". SI's site dosn't mention anything about a "Magnum", just a "Mag D2". Now I know. But is the new one still a "Magnum" or is it officuilly called a "Mag"?

Anyone know who can recone an Adire Brahma MkIII?
king alpha posted a topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I was wondering if I can send my Adire Brahma MkIII to be fixed other than Adire themselves. I got it a while back from Low-Hz, and it got shipped blown (once I opened the smashed shipping box, I pushed in the cone and it was stiff and made scratching noises) I ended up with a Mag D2, but I still have the Brahma and I want it fixed. Thanks -
It's a store called Hawaii Mail Box. We pack and ship stuff. I'll definetly try and get there with my Mustang. I want to check out all these "internet" subs in person, but actually getting up on a Sunday morning is going to suck. (We are talking about 9-12 in the morning right?) Go anyway. The SSDs is one of my choices to go into my Rav4.

I just want to verify. On the website, it says the 10"=6" mounting depth, and 12"=6.5" mounting depth. 7" is to much for my app., so I was thinking the 10" sub, but now I can do the 12" if the mounting depth on the site is acurate. Thanks. BTW: Who do I ask to get a shipping quote to get one of those to Honolulu, HI 96819?
-
What I want to know is what's the mounting depth for the 10" and 12" Icons. My Massive Audio P1000.1 amp does 880 Watts @ 1 ohm, so the power is already taken care of.

You work on Queen St? Cool. I work on Cooke St. Across from Karen's Kitchen. theabunai is the first poster from Hawaii that said hi (on caraudio.com) and then I read all this. More boys from Hawaii. Anyway, maybe I'll stop by one day. You read all the hype about Fi, and here I thought I had no way of actually "hearing" Fi subs. Good to see you have a BL, and theabunai has SSDs (and sounds like he's getting Qs too). I'm actually inquiring about getting a Q to stick into a brand new Rav4 I just got, so reading this thread is good. BTW, I have a 12" SI Mag in a Mustang, but I haven't driven that car in two weeks now.
-
What's everyone's opion on the OP replacing the SSDs with BMs? I'm currently considering both these subs in a sealed enclosure for my new ride. I have a Mag in my other car so, I definetly want to consider the BM, but can't stop looking at the price of a SSD.

Yeah, PM the guy and make sure you post the answer on here. I'd like to know as well.
