The amp I'm going to use is a Massive P1000.1, and it puts out 880W @ 1 ohm. And if I build the box correctly, it should come out to a 1.3 ft^3 sealed box. Right now the Mag is in a 2.5 ft^3 ported box tuned to 33Hz, powered by the Massive P1000.1. I really like this set up, but I drive my Mustang maybe twice a week. I hate to admit it, but the Rav4 is a lot better comuter car then the Mustang is and it seems as though the Mag seems to be wasted in a car I hardly drive. I drive my Rav4 all the time. When I do drive the Mustang, it's only a 30 minute drive to school, twice a week. I try hard not to turn up the volume because I'm usually stuck in traffic and I don't want to irritate the other drivers, but sometimes I do and I enjoy the Mag. If worse comes to worse, I can always keep the Mag in the Mustang. The Brahma, I can put into my dad's car (so, it's not a total waste of the sub). For the Rav4, I'll have to do a little more research on mounting depth, but I'm sure I can find a good suitable sub or two for it.

does the wires need to be changed when downgrading an amp?
king alpha posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Let's say I'm running the Sundown 1000 watt amp with 2 gauge power/ground wire and an 80amp fuse near the battery powering a 12" Fi Q. If I want to change my sub to a 8" Soundsplinter RL-i, and replace the Sundown with a P.G. 400 Watt amp, does the 2 guage wire need to be changed? If not, then does the fuse need to be changed? BTW: I don't have those amps or subs. My main question was the wire question. I realize the Sundown would actually be good for a dual 4 ohm RLi-8. But let's forget all that. -
I want to know the following 1. Mounting Depth (from that other thread with the proto pic, it looks like it's at least 8" compared to the soda can) 2. Power handling 3. Price (obviously)

I have this box design I'm planning on doing for my current gen Mag that fits just right because of how the motor is cone shaped. I'm guessing since the new Mag is triple slugged, it's going to be straight across with no cone shape at the end? I'm going to put a sub in my dad's car one day. The current gen Mag is awesome. How does the new 12" BM stack up to it? Also, will the new BM be better in sealed enclosures then the current BMs? And one more question, any plans on a 10" Mag? I'll get that for my pop's car.

How much did you spend on the subs? Because if you actually thought it was Assassins and paid Assassin prices and it turns out to be some $40 generic subs, then you got ripped off.

No spare thousand dollars here, so I can't help you there, but speaking of XBL^2, I just read your "Unbiased Comparison of Linear BL Technologies". Good chit, and I'm still trying to absorb all that info. XBL^2 aka Split Gap, seems to kick ass in everything but the subwoofer. But I need to reread that to fully understand it. BTW, you may want to check on that thread in the next week or so, I have a few questions I want to ask in there, mostly about top plate (I can't picture that)

What is NDA? Also, I wonder what brand Circuit City carries that utilizes XBL^2. Any guesses?

SSA going to help out Realmofexcursion.com
king alpha replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in News, Announcements, and Lobby
How much power does SSA have over the RoE forums? Can SSA make Admins? If SSA have that power, then one of the first thing to do is make dragginlow and stratus admins. Anyway, I have an accound on both sites. I got introduced SSA when I purchased my Stereo Integrity Mag, and SI being part of this forum. Before that, I got introduced to RoE because of the 12" Challenge. -
Hey Scott, I emailed you, but read that other recone thread about not supposed to email you other then shipping, so I thought I'd post here. (And sorry I didn't read that sticky earlier) Anyway, In previous emails, we discussed reconing a 12" Adire Brahma MKIII, and I have the sub packed and ready to go. I just need a quote on the cost of shipping the sub back to me when it's done. I live in Honolulu, HI 96819. Thanks.

I can see where the Dealer is going with that. If yenwen decides on the Mag instead of the Comp VX, the dealer will most likely try and sell the RE to yenwen. Anyway, if you (yenwen), really want to know how good a Comp VX, or RE, or Tc sub sounds, why don't you ask that dealer if he has any installed in a car that you can listen to? BTW: is the term "LSQ" the same as "LSQ"? (Hmm, It seems to change S Q L to LSQ automatically, so I guess that answers my question.)
-
I have the MKIII, and Scott dosn't know for sure if it's the same as the MKIs and MKIIs. And the only way to see if it's the same is to send my Brahma to him and have him tear it up. I can't find anything on the web about what exactly change between the MKI, MKII, MKIII, and MKIV. I still want to hear about how your recones went. And post pics too.

I googled Exodus Audio, and came to the conclusion that they're the same guys as Acoustic Vision, who are on SSA too. Am I right? Anyway, the price for the XJ-12 is great, but the sub is only available in Dual 8 ohm, which means I would have to buy a new amp, which I'm not willing to do right now. Reconing the Dual 2 ohm Brahma I have, I can use an amp I already have available. Also, I'm pretty set on having Scott see what he can do with the Brahma. If it ends up being some sort of Fi/Adire Hybrid, I'm all for it.

External Fuse Question
king alpha posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
When I installed my Massive P1000.1 amp, I also got a 2 gauge Amp Kit that came with a 80A fuse. I just read the Massive's owners manual, it recomends a 60A fuse. Does using a 80A over a 60A make any difference? When I had my system running, I had the amp powering a SI Mag @ 1 ohm (880W). -
External Fuse Question
king alpha replied to king alpha's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Cool, that makes sense. And I think my wire is about 6-7ft (I'm just guessing). It's a 95 Ford Mustang, and the wire is goes from the battery and to the trunk. I just got the car back from the shop and I'm in the process of putting the sounds back in, but misplaced the fuses. Once I get this settled, I'll buy the proper fuse. -
External Fuse Question
king alpha replied to king alpha's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So the fuse is more for the wire and not the amp, and that 80A fuse is for the 2gauge wire? Or I'm interpreting things wrong, and I should get rid of my 80A and get a 60A fuse even though it's 2gauge wire? And I had a front stage, it's a small amp that uses a 25A fuse and 8 gauge wire. -
Boooo. I was all set on getting my Adire Brahma reconed. BUT, you go and offer the current BMs for cheap (cheaper then the cost of getting the Brahma reconed and shipped twice). So, I had to decide before the sale ends. NOW you go and show protos of the new BMs. Choices, too much choices. Do I save money and buy the current BMs? Do I wait for the new BMs? Or do I go and have the Brahma fixed, so I can actually hear what all that hype was about? And the last choice: Since I already have a Mag, no point downgrading, so, I'll just save my pennies and wait for the new Mag. Having different choices is good. But actually trying to choose one sucks.

The BMs is supposed to be 170 shipped, but I live in Hawaii. Can I get a quote for shipping one of these to Honolulu, HI 96819? Thanks.

Crazy you test your drivers for things customers shouldn't do. I guess that's what quality assurance is all about. I guess I should just pick up an old one. Make no mistake, Mag's are still coming soon. I'm not willing to come out with a driver that isn't 100%. And yes, we TORTURE our drivers. For the record, it survived full-exucrsion for 15 minutes at 2.2-2.8k watts before it let go. And that's a driver that we're going to rate at 1000 watts. Off topic, but what kind of Torture did the current Mag survive? I'm guessing you guys beat the living chit out of that driver too.

If this new mag is that much better then the last mag, you guys may want to consider releasing the last mag as another line. Maybe call it "Mag Classic" or something. The last and new Mag seems to be worlds apart (sort of like a Fi Q/BTL or JL W6/W7) and could easily be two different lines. That way, customers will have a choice between three lines, BM, Mag Classic, and Mag D2. And guys like me can find a second brand new Mag "Classic" without worrying about getting it used. Yeah, I'm thinking of something where "I" benefit. Also, I have a feeling there might be more demand for continuing the last mag along with the new mag, then there's demand for more voice coil options. Can't wait to see what the new Mag can do.

I had my 12" Mag in a box that's 2.5 cubes @33Hz. I liked it. But I can't really compare it to anything else, because that's the only box I made for the Mag.

the term"power handling depends on application"
king alpha replied to king alpha's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Honestly, I'm not really looking for a "new" sub. I only have two cars. My brand new Rav4 will have the Mag that I will not get rid of. The other is my Mustang, which had the Mag in it, but since the accident (it got hit by an uninsured driver, who's also unemployed, so no money there), I haven't been driving the Mustang around. But when I do get the Mustang fixed, I still want a sub in there, and since I got the Brahma lying around, I thought I'd get that fixed. So, the only certain thing right now is the Mag going into the Rav4. A sub (new or old) in the Mustang is still up in the air and I thought I'd do some research to figure out what I want. -
I'm thinking about sending my blown 12" Adire Brahma MKIII to Scott over at Fi to get it reconed. Finding info on the MKIIIs is difficult. In fact, before Adire shut down, they had the MKIV in their current line up, and had a link to discontinued models. In that link, there's the Brahma MKI and MKII but nowhere was a MKIII mentioned. Anyway, according to my research, the MKI and MKII is rated at 1,600 Watts RMS, and the MKIII and MKIV is rated at 600 Watts RMS. I can't find anything explaining why there's a 1,000 Watt difference between the MKII and MKIIIs but I don't have a problem with that. I've also read that the a Brahma (I'm guessing MKI/II) can reach full excursion from as little as 400 Watts, and as much as 7,000 Watts, depending on the application. I'm guessing it all depends on the box size and the MKIII should be able to take more then 600 Watts depending on the application. But I'm just guessing, so how do I figure out what "depends on application" mean and if it actually aplies to the MKIII versions? Also, I can't find Adire's recomended box sizes for a MKIII but for the MKIV they recommend a .75-3.0 ft^3 @ 20-35Hz ported box. I already have a box that's 2.5 ft^3 @ 33Hz that was used for my Mag. If I used this 2.5 ft^3 @ 33Hz box, Can I feed the Brahma MKIII 880 Watts RMS (Massive P1000.1)? Or should I be considering more or less power to the Brahma? One Last thing. Would getting it reconed by Fi change anything? I'm more concerned about power handling and box recommendations.

Devil Driver: Thanks for the post. I really appreciate that. BTW, I posted about the Brahma in Realmofexcursion, and you replied there too. I remember the avatar. So, I was trying to find that post in here, until I realized it was a different site. Tirefryr and Kyle: I just got back from visiting the Acoustic Visions part of this site. And reading that, I should just pick up one of those subs instead of trying to get mines reconed. Damn, now I got to think some more. ANd thanks for you info. -
Wassup, and I'm from Hawaii too. And I've also noticed Fi getting a lot of love from Hawaii. I have a Mag sitting in my room, that I'm planning to install in new car I just bought. And I'll eventually get a Fi sub, if I ever decide to spend $4000+ to fix my old car that's only worth $3000. (You know Hawaii ranks up there in number of uninsured drivers?) What are you running?

A 12" Adire Brahma MkIII and a 12" Stereo Integrity Mag D2 again, along with a soda can just like some of the other pics on here.
