How to make a removeable top for bandpass box?
pro-rabbit replied to ShagggDiesel's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Yep, that is what we do as well. Typically I like to make a small area removable if I can. -
box for 2 icons 12s tuned at 30hz,need some opinions.
pro-rabbit replied to garychurch84's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
The only way to "retune" your enclosure would be to rebuild it. However, if you are not getting the low end you are wanting then yes it would need to be tuned lower. However, if you tune lower you will lose some of that upper end you are currently getting. You will still likely "peak" spl wise in the same spot though or at least close to it. -
I wasn't going to say anything.. just loled for a min when I read that. 678gobot, I forwarded you our original response to your inquiry back on the 13th as well as sent you a quote for the amp rack you requested.

Got it, I will send you an email shortly. I'm reading over your request right now.
-
What is your email? I can go through our requests and see what happened and get you out a quote and any other information you may require.

Here are a few local builds and such... we get a lot of requests for basic trim/beauty panels. I would assume it is do to the low cost for them. These first few are Deji Karim's Avalanche we did a few weeks back.... this will be seeing some changes soon though..... DD's are being removed and adding a few more "custom" touches to it.

Yes sir, still here and still kicking.
-
Nice, is that what the finished enclosures will look like?

We can do a fully custom designed and built enclosure if you are interested of course. Wouldn't be much more then the "ebay special" enclosure you linked to.

Ported box design for 12" GCON...opinions?
pro-rabbit replied to handman84's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I didn't check the math.. But I would add 45s and round over the port edges. Also, moving the sub closer to the port opening would be more ideal if you can. -
We use Cyber Bond

I read through the thread on ca.com as well, and my thoughts are the same as yours are. Over driving the sub in a leaky sealed enclosure likely caused a break down in the suspension compliance. The new enclosure seems to have a tad bit more port area then required coupled with an enclosure on the large side(I think) for your application is allowing the sub to reach a mechanical limit that it shouldn't be achieving at this time. It could be simple "lead slap" but that is still a result of another underling issue more then likely. Can you get any images of the felt pads on the back of the sub? Or perhaps a video or two to show the situation for what it is?
-
The Icon is a great sub, just make sure you don't just toss it into any random enclosure. The enclosure is the back bone of the sub stage, and if properly designed it will help achieve your goals and to get the most from your product.

The other issue is that these graphs will not depict how an enclosure will perform once installed in the application. Thus rendering them just about useless unless you know the peaks/nulls of your car anyway.

We have been busy as of late so of course not much for building/assembly photos..but here are few that should be leaving out tomorrow.

Amp for a pair of 12" GCONs (750w)?
pro-rabbit replied to Dave88LX's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you switch out to D2 subs you use the Earthquake amp 2krms with it. Nice amp, just no use for it here. Heck, may even be able to flush it into the box when we build it lol. In reality though, just about any decent 1k-2k amp will be a good match. -
That design will get you going. It goes together fairly easy. That Gcon is a nice sub too. Welcome btw, this forum is a bit better then the other you asked on.
-
Should do "ok" for the most part. In a situation like this, it is more of "trial and error" situation to be honest.
-
lol....thanks for the mention on that one

pro-rabbit replied to Dave88LX's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have an Earthquake PH D2, but it does power at 2 ohm not 1 ohm like we were talking about. -
Just sent you a response. Sorry about our phone system. With the fast approaching holidays we simply can not keep up with calls.

Yep, 2 will work. Once we get the new dims when you get a chance we can get a full design together. Just get dual 4 ohm subs. That will give you a 1 ohm setup for an amplifier and far easier to find.
