  1. ok so i got my bl today, i ordered the dual 1 ohm and wired it up in series to get a 2ohm load. I have a RF t1000bdcp which puts out 1400 watts at 2ohms. so i went to hook it up and play it with the gain set half way no bass boost and the infrasonic filter is set at 28hz with a box tuning of 33hz at 2.5cbft. When i turned it on to play it you can barely even hear it?? I dont know whats wrong but i had a power acoustik 10 in there before and it hit waaayy harder then my new bl. I know i wired it up right i hooked up a wire from neg on one side to pos on other side, then pos to amp pos and neg to amp neg. Can someone please help me out on what could be wrong i just dont understand i thought these were suppose to be louder then the 12w7s??
  2. yes i know its more for just looks and cleanliness, the 12 gauge is all mangled, just needed to know if it does the same thing and if its safe, i thought it was pretty much all the same stuff just caught me off gaurd with the diff names speaker wire and power wire thought they did two different things haha
  3. hey guys i had a quick question i got some extra stinger pro series 8 gauge power wire and i was wondering if i could use this for speaker wire to hook up from amp to sub box? was wondering if theres any difference or is it the same stuff. all i have right now for speaker wire is some cheap 12 gauge speaker wire and i wanted to put int he 8 gauge power wire? is this possible
  4. ok so i was looking around for a new headunit to put out more volts in my preouts and i came across this one http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22379_Pioneer-DEH-P7200HD.html , I was just wondering what you guys think, i seems to be a really well built h/u with everything i need. Also i was wondering if you can turn off the lpf on this one cuz i know the one i have right now you cant turn off the lpf it just goes down to 50hz because i want to use the lpf on my amp.
  5. because i would have to either wire it to 4ohms or 1 ohm, my amp didnt put enough power out at 4ohms and i didnt want to wire it to 1 cuz it would put more strain on my electrical and my amp puts out the same power at 1ohm as it does at 2ohms, but i dont understand why this was brought up?
  6. well for one image dynamics closed their doors a couple months ago, and i would go with the bigger box, with bigger boxes it takes less power to achieve full output. and if your wanting to listen to rap and dubstep those have alot of lows and id be putting that sucker in a ported box. you would get alot more output and be hitting those lows with athority!!

If i were you id sell that ssd to someone who could give it the right power and move up to a bl or btl, you have the power to do it so why not haha, would have alot better outcome and less strain on the sub
  8. nah its really hard to get the sub out cuz its a flush mount box and iv already pulled it out twice i know for a fact its wired up right that wasnt the problem, the problem was i didnt have the gain up high enough because it sounded like crap and i wasnt comfortable turning it up anymore but now that i have the lpf on h/u at 50 hz and lpf on amp at 65 hz for some reason it sounds sooo much better and id feel comfortable with turning it up, right now im just lettin it break it but once i turn it up a lil bit ill let you guys know how it turns out. I really appreciate everyone trying to help me its awsome to know you have advise on here about your sub cuz almost all the shops around me havnt even heard of Fi before sadly haha.
  9. ok guys i think iv solved the problem, the reason i havnt wanted to turn up the gains was because it just sounded like it was being stressed and sounded like crap, the reason why i think is because on my amp i had the lpf set at 80hz ok, then i just found out today that my h/u has a lpf also and was set at 100hz, so if im right that would equal 180hz, because alright i cant turn off both completely but i turned my h/u to 50 and then my amp to 65 and it sounded soo much better i think cuz it was letting all those midbass notes into it cuz it really didnt sound right, but now that i turned my h/u to 50 i would feel soo much better turning the gains up because it sounds real clean. i was playing lil jon lovers and friends and before it wasnt gettin those bottom notes it was just winging the high bass notes i can hear in my door speakers, so im guessing i need a new h/u with higher preouts and be able to turn off the lpf on it
  10. ummm iv never heard of that?? Do you have a logic explenation for this?
  11. so if metal does stick to the magnet then is that good or is that bad cuz metal does stick to it
  12. ok cool and thank you everyone ill be back in a few hours to let you know if i have achieved twice output with clean sound hehe, hoping i dont have to buy a new deck cuz this one is pretty old
  13. ok haha just wanted to clear that up, trying to minimize everything i can that might be wrong, im guessing its either my old headunit or my amp, man i wish i would stop having stereo problems lol
  14. alright ill see but i dont think that has anything to do with the output, also on the back of the bl theres that thing that says custom car audio, thats supposed to stay on right haha?? just a quick question
  15. im thinking maybe i have both amp and headunit lpf set on but would that make a huge difference? how do i just use my headunit lpf should i turn the amp one all the way or all the way down?
  16. alright ill check some stuff out and play with it while im at work cuz i drive for a living and ill get back to you guys when i get off, i really really appreciate everyone trying to help me its nice to have people to talk to about this stuff cuz where im at theres really knowbody with subs that i know except for the stereo shop and you guys know how that goes haha
  17. isnt the hpf for cutting high note out of the sub and lpf for cuttin low notes to the door speakers?
  18. yes im using a ipod with the aux, im not sure if i have a lpf on my headunit or amp haha, on my amp theres 3 knobs 1 for gain 1 for punch eq which is the bass boost and another that says freqency hz that goes from 35 to 250, on my head unit i have a hpf but not sure where the lpf is
  19. when i sit the sub button it just pops up my bass adjustment and that is set to 0, when i do turn up the gain it does get louder but it just doesnt sound right like it hits really really hard but not too much sound, like it sounds like its gonna pop haha idk if thats just how the sub is or if its getting over loaded like i really wish could hear another bl somewhere so i know what the limits of the sub is
  20. i have a pioneer deh-p3900mp, just about everything is set at zero, hfp off, loud off, eq low=+2 mid=+3 High=+2, bass=0,
  21. i dont have a bass knob hooked up, so your sayin you cant use pioneer decks with subs??
  22. lol because my amp doesnt go down to half ohm, what do you mean my sub will burn out? didnt think this would ever come up
  23. yes i knwo they are very knowledgeable and i have been listening to every word they say and do it, iv checked the wires on my sub 3 times and it is perfect, the deck isnt a very good one its like 4 years old pioneer only 2 preouts not sure what volts and i dont know what you mean by is my sub out turned all the way up?
  24. miller i have been trying everything people have said, i turned the box around and it seemed to make it a little better, when i turn the gain all the way up it does get alot louder and i dont know where i can download a 30hz test tone to play in my car. i mean if its just the gains are set too low then the amp isnt very good cuz you shouldnt have to turn the gain up to 3/4 the way on your amp to achieve full output from a sub, when i had my jl 500/1 hooked up to my 12w7 i only had the gain up 1/4 the way and it sounded about the same as when i have the gain half way on my bl. im thinking its just the amp but is it safe to turen gain 3/4 the way up as long as sub sounds fine?
