Speakers for a RZR. Need the best all around sound from 6.5s
crazyj23 posted a topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Which 6.5" speakers put out the best all around sound from 150w max to each speaker. I'll probably only be using two speakers in pvc wakeboard style enclosures. It would be nice to have a little bass as well as decent highs and mids. -

No budget isn't an issue....The size and and depth of the build is. I want it simple. -

^Thanks, this wasnt meant to be all complicated. I was just looking for some suggestions. The Bravox 6's look nice at the moment and they are on sale -

Yup I want the best of all worlds. Mounting depth is no issue. A RZR is like a mini dune buggy so yeah open environment. Budget isn't really an issue either but the cheaper the better. I can probably squeeze in 4 speakers. Never really thought about 6" subs. That is definitly an option. My biggest problem is the amp when going with more speakers. I was tryng to keep it small. At this moment I was thinking one of these - Pyle PLMRMP3A (yeah I know its pyle) -
My original box was the one recommended from ssa and it sounded good but the wife wants more space in the trunk so I have to do something different. So I need a box with less depth preferably ported still and a little longer tuned to 32hz. I don't understand how to use the box calculators I have found. Heres what I have to work with as far as area: 32"long x 16"high x minimum depth of the sub which i'm unsure of. The sub is 6" deep so I'm guessing a 1/2" more than that is minimum Basically I just need a longer less deep box that will still sound good. I listen to mainly rap/hiphop and some d&b. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to make sure I understand you.. As long as the dimensions of the port stay the same volume wise and the overall volume of the box stays the same it doesn't matter what shape it is? So if I keep the same height but just make it longer and not as deep it will be the same. Thats kinda what I thought. Thanks

can the ssa dcon be wired down to 1 ohm?
crazyj23 replied to mustangsub's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Do you have the sub already? If not I have a dcon 10 less than a month old $110 shipped if youre interested. -
will you trade a month old ssa dcon10 for a skar 10? If so it will be in the mail tomorrow!!!!

I just got a dcon 10 and its plays loud and low for one sub on a 300 watt kicker amp. I think you would be very happy with 2 dcons

gain, clipping, retarded bmw etc
crazyj23 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Im trying to make the things in this thread My link click, but with pain killers and a little booze (knee surgery) I want to make sure I sort of understand what is being said and how it applies to my situation. I have a newer bmw that has a factory amp for the subs. I tapped into the speaker wires to the subs with a LOC to add an amp and a sub in the trunk. Everything is up and running but there is one problem. The factory adjustments on the stereo system only allow the volume to go so high , to the point that distortion is not really possible. Does this mean that the sub volume is only going to go so loud also? No matter what the gain is set to like an anti dont even get close to clipping tool? The system is loud but not LOUD. And the bass from the sub seems lower than the rest of the system. Granted it is in the trunk and is only a 300rms amp and sub, it almost seems that no matter what I put in, it still wouldnt be any louder. Does any of this make sense? Any recommendations on something I should do differently? -
gain, clipping, retarded bmw etc

it is a low level signal from the factory subs -
Ive been waiting for 20 days so far.... I do have a tracking number that says the label was created 4 days ago but nothing shipped yet. I hope the sub sounds good
-
What sub would hit harder, the sa8 in a 1cu ported box or the dcon 10 in a 1.25cu ported box. This will be run on about 300rms in the trunk of a car
-
Anybody know how long these usually take to build and ship? I get excited everytime I get on here and cant wait!! Its been 6 days including weekends. Says a week build time on the site.....

I ordered the dcon last night I'll let everyone know how it sounds.

Ok heres the deal Im trying to figure out the best way to do this so everything is compatible. First, I will be installing 2 shallow mount earthquake sws 8" subs under the front seats in a bmw 5 series which will be replacing the factory subs and one dcon 10" in the trunk. The earthquake subs will be run as a sort of midrange/sub and can only handle about 150rms. The dcon is good for 300rms. My questions are: What impedences should I get for the subs? Dcon 10 and earthquake? What amp would be best? 3 or 4 channel? 4 channel run in 3 channel mode? Any recommendations on amp? Maybe a link or advise on how to wire it up? '

Wiring and amp help 3 subs to a 4 or 3 channel amp
crazyj23 replied to crazyj23's topic in General Audio
My only issue with that is running another amp. I already have one that is connected through a LOC off of the stock sub amp it only sends a low signal. The rest of the speakers (all eight) are powered from the head unit. To be honest I wouldnt know how to get around the head unit, run wires etc to all the small speakers. These cars arent run of the mill, shit gets complicated with the fiber optic wiring from the head unit along with the whole idrive navigation system. Look it up -
Thanks dcon it is

Wiring and amp help 3 subs to a 4 or 3 channel amp
crazyj23 replied to crazyj23's topic in General Audio
the way the system is equalized makes it kind of weird if I were to ditch the subs under the seats i would have almost all highs in the front and base only coming from the trunk, no mids. That is how I have it now... Its doesnt sound very good. the base controls in the head unit will udjust everything at the same time. If i upgrade the subs under the seats and run a sub in the trunk with a remote knob I will at least have a little adjustibility without having to buy something like the jbl ms-8. I guess my only real question is on the amp. I am not to familiar with 4 channel amps. Is it possible to bridge two of the channels for the sub in the trunk and also run the smaller subs off of the remaining 2 channels? I would also appreciate any recommendations on a strong 4 channel amp that is capable of this.
