    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

That is a big thing I miss about living in SoCal. I am not a big baseball fan by any means... watching on TV is so fucking boring to me, but I love going to a pro game. I went to several Padres games and starting dating a broad who lived in Anaheim who loved going to Angels games so I saw a shit ton of them. The farm team games suck. Always stupid shit going on between innings, but I love being at an MLB game. Glad to hear you had a good time.

OK, back to router talk, I looked at the router Matt posted, and am interested. In fact, I looked at that same router a few months back. We have 4 ASUS laptops in the house, and have been extremely pleased with their service/reliability. I know of Sean's woes with his. So which ASUS was in that you bought, Sean? I don't mind spending $200 for a solid router, as I refuse to reinvest in routers for a long period of time. My current router is a trendnet I bought about 5 years ago, and am happy that it lasted so long. I don't care about e-ports but would like at least 1 USB for a local HDD on the network. We may have 7 devices running on the network at a time, ROKU, Playstation, laptops, phones, tablets, and a Wi-Fi network printer... and I am planning on investing in a smart TV around SB time. Almost all devices will be running within the same large open set of rooms, with occasional trips outside of the living area. Anybody care to opine?

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I am so worn out. I am happy with the money I am making, but I told the boss 3 days ago I needed 20 hours by today. Pay period ends the 15th and last day of the month, and I want to see 100 hours turned per pay period, and 20 hours would put me at my 100. Well he laid it to me with 16.8, 17.9, and 22 hours consecutively. So yeah, I turned 137 hours total... Makes me happy, brings up my hourly (I get a performance based commission, every 5 hours over 80 gives me an additional $1 an hour total (not after the 80, but total)) so I make an additional $11 per hour total turned, over $1500 in additional pay for performance based initiative, plus my net shop intake bonus for my foreman position... or at least I assume that goes on this pay period. They gave me the foreman position on monday, which was 4 days before my scheduled review and offer of the position. I really got them good with 4 difficult diagnosis, 2 for other techs and I didn't pull the diag labor, and 2 for me. One was a communication issue that was difficult, and the other was so basic it was sad, but it was at 3 other shops where the poor bastard spent almost a grand. I charged him 1.5 hours and an O2 sensor... It is pitiful the "technicians" that are out there. So the job I had worked for 3 months to get is paying off. The work is fantastic (I love the independent "specialty" shop work as difficult is rewarding both financially and personally), the pay is very nice (I will be above my desired pay very easily even with a 30% drop in work) and the people I work with are pretty cool. The owner doesn't have much to do with us aside from advertisement (~20,000 per month), but the shop manager is really cool, and the service writer is pretty strong too, and the techs are decent. I have 1 diagnostic guy who is really good, one nuts and bolts guy, 1 GS, and my apprentice. I wish I had more stalls, but other than that I have no complaints. Oh yeah, I can afford a lot more Double Oaked... Win/win mother fuckers!!!

And FWIW, I am so tired of working on Euros it is sickening. I love my new job, I am extremely happy... but fuck these Euros and Hybrid pieces of shit. I honestly believe that if you enjoy either of the aforementioned vehicle types, you are a fucking retard... no offense intended to my friends here, but they are over engineered pieces of shit with no real world considerations included in the application... Gee, why are Crown Vics the taxi cab of the US? For the same reason these hunks of shit are the taxi cabs of Europe.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I do, and fuck that. I hate seats that feel like cold rocks and cars that ride like a tank. Interesting, you prefer the marshmallow? If by marshmallow you mean comfort, yes. Mustangs suck. Comfort, reliability... they suck. No offense, I know you like them, but that is my personal preference... and I drive a lot of vehicles. this is untrue. I almost traded my vette for one because I needed a bigger car. The GTO is horribly uncomfortable and tiny as hell inside. My vette had 10 times more leg room. Was very uncomfortable and awkward to drive. More leg room, I agree. Tiny and uncomfortable, I disagree. It's an Exploder.

So the Bimmer that was built without the AC duct came in today. She was happy she had air thanks to my Presidential Engineering, but she wanted us to do the work and install the proper part. She refused to take it to the dealer. We ordered the part for the BMW from eGay, since we could not find it anywhere... aaaannnnddddd, it came from a dealer. Irony. So what does a $500 piece of plastic from BMW look like? What does the job look like? All images are clickable links Top of the dash out of the car, and the center console. I had to remove the entertainment module in the lower center of the dash as well. See that little 90 degree piece of shit plastic? Yeah, that's worth $500. It is sitting in the center console section of the car. Yeah, kinda hard to tell where it goes, but here is the duct's home. You will be able to see it better in the next pic. Aaaannnddd, the duct is home. The final assembly. The customer also had me replace the front brake wear sensor since it was not replaced when the brakes were done (and they were brand new) at the dealership just a couple months ago. Seriously? The dealer did front brakes, reused the old sensor, and let the car leave with a front pad warning indicator on the dash (see the first pic for the warning on the display)? No wonder she didn't want them to touch her car again. I also did several other little maintenance items that needed to be done. She spent a big chunk with me a few weeks ago and today. I have a customer for life... uggghhh, a BMW for life.

Then huff the fumes?Ethanol vapor will Fuck you up. Take a 2L bottle and put a bit of everclear in the bottom (small amount). Fit a cork into the top and run your air compressor into the cork into the bottle. Turn the pump on. Let it fill as much as possible and pull out the cork. The drop in air pressure vaporizes the everclear, breathe deep. Ahh the shit you learn in the military....Does that just feel like a normal "drunk" or what?Another good option are vodka colonics.Butt hole boozin is another way to conserve your stash. Wasted on a shot or 2. I did this once on a dare and this is VERY true. Keep a tampon in its applicator and soak it in a shot, then up she goes. You get literally hammered from a couple shots. One shot and you're pretty much good.Explains everything. Only a little disturbing, eh?

I'm warmed up... Jelly.Sean is pounding black bush and I'm starting with some absinthe. Does it really taste like anise Matt? American Absinthe does. The real stuff is so strong (over 180 proof) that it does have a hint of anise, but it is washed out by the high alcohol content...

What makes it the best for you? I am trying to avoid downloading anything, but if there are reasons that would also help me I'd do it instantly. I've been using dolphin on my phones since I first got a smart phone. It is quick, doesn't freeze up, cleans cache without any real effort whenever you exit the browser, renders similarly to firefox on a PC, and expand and contraction on screen is clean and simple.. I have tried Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and a few other lesser known browsers, and really prefer Dolphin. It is worthwhile, and better yet, free. FWIW I do prefer Chrome on my tablet, but for small screen rendering Dolphin is an easy winner.

Seems like my m-th regimen will be slacks with good shoes and belt with a polo or button down with no tie. Friday is truly casual friday. Jeans and a t-shirt seems to be par for the course around here. For me it will be jeans, polished boots and again either a button up or polo. I just want to dress as the people above me do or slightly better. As long as I am not the underdressed guy there I thinkI will do fine. The system is a PITA to work but once it's understood how to navigate it, it's not that bad. J You'll do fine no matter how you're dressed, bud.

Sadly, I actually engineered a part for her. It was somewhat pitiful, but functional. We are $103 an hour, and the local dealer is ~$150 an hour. She would be about $350 into the tear down and re-install by me with no fix. By the time the dealer did their tear down and reinstall she would be into it another grand. She did a bunch of other work, so I decided to surprise her with some custom work by Sandt, and fabricated her a functional duct for free. She was thrilled when I showed her she had rear air, and surprised when I refused her tip. I just asked her to bring her car back to me for future service, that was enough tip for me.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I am glad to have weekends off again. But I am working a lot of hours. The work is good (so glad to be back in an independent shop atmosphere, I get a nice mix of drivability/electrical, and heavy line work), the weekends off are great, and the pay is fucking amazing. I doubled my pay from my last shop without bonuses, and am making ~25% more then the dealership as a foreman/manager... and while I am the foreman here I am not forced into all the management and paperwork. I have had 2 messes to clean up, and another to look at Monday (sucks that a tech did ~$1200 worth of AC/Dash work and the blend doors are still not responding to HVAC inputs). I do have to say, I am a bit overwhelmed with the Euro shit I get. I had an '06 BMW 530i with a little old lady complaining that she had no AC from the rear vents. She didn't know if it ever worked because she rarely had people sit in the back seat. It had ~20K miles on it. I yanked the center console out (what a PITA) and found a missing duct. I did some research and found a TSB where apparently BMW "forgot" to put this particular duct into several 3 and 5 series Beemers. Does BMW do anything about it? Nope. Does BMW have the part available? Nope. Germany has not released said intermediate duct to the US aftermarket. What can said customer do? Have the shop put the car back together (at her cost, of course), send it to BMW where they will take it apart (at her cost, of course) to determine if my diagnosis was correct, then wait for the part which is on an unspecified backorder (estimated time of delivery, about 45 days)... but only the dealer can get and install this little 8 inch piece of cheap plastic duct that costs almost $500... Did I mention this is all at her cost? They forgot to put the fucking thing in there!!! Fuck BMW.

I'm not really an earbud kinda guy, but my wife uses the Skullcandy 50/50s. They really aren't bad for 50 bucks. I thought u were, lol.. I'm not anticipating the reimbursement... i want it to be hell messing with the DA or whoever to screw with paypal.. I do know the OP in the thread.. but this could happen to any of us and that isn't right. There has to be some sort of repercussion on the mediary side(paypal in this case) for wrongfully mediating the dispute. They have been doing it for years. I quit selling gear after I got fucked. I had a customer order 2 Brahma 15s from me. His instructions were to leave them on his back porch. He claimed he never got them. Shortly after he filed the claim he showed up on CAF talking about his new Brahmas. When I called him out he suddenly left the forum. I even sent the thread to Paypal, to no avail. He won the claim, even though I had the shipping details, and him talking about the subs on the forum right after he filed the fucking claim, and they yanked $900 back. Fuck paypal.
