I don't really want to use my name, that is the point. My ego is pretty big, fucking huge actually, but my ego lies in my work, not my name. It is likely why I have elected to grow my hair and hide behind a beard. I want people to realize that what is on the outside is not representative of what is on the inside. If I had bought my old bosses business when he offered it I would have left the name alone. I don't care to have my name in lights for the public to see, but when people in my industry talk about "the guy" that can fix your car, I want it to be me. Specialty? I'll bounce what we can do off of you. I am obviously a hybrid guy, I excel at Toyota/Lexus hybrid design. This would include Ford, Nissan, and GM. I am a GM trained Master Certified Technician, with proficiencies in electrical, drivability, and communication network diagnosis and repair. I have worked at a shop that specializes in Nissan, Hybrid, Mini, and Jeep products. I am adept at all facets of Nissan and exceptional with Jeep/Chrysler products. I do a lot of Mini work, but really consider myself fairly amateurish in their electronics and drivability components. I am relatively weak with European market vehicles overall, and this is one area I want to steer clear of. I want to focus on simple to complex repairs of Domestic and Asian vehicles (with hybrid being something I want to push a bit as it is unique, and I am THE go to guy within a 250 mile radius on them. Trey is young, but extremely proficient with Asian vehicles. He is mechanically and electrically talented. He will be as good as me with experience, possibly better, and he is very open to learning what I have to show him. He is always watching and learning. I truly feel like he is going to be a big part of my business for a long time. He already possesses speed and exceptional mechanical abilities. He also has more European knowledge than I do, and he is pretty good with them all around. But he is not completely comfortable with them, and I respect that. I respect this concern because he is not afraid to take on new challenges. Nobody at our shop built rear ends, and he saw a market to do it. So he researched it, figured it out, and did it. That may not sound like a big deal, but diff work is precise, difficult to grasp for many people, and very unforgiving if you make a mistake. I do diff work, but it is something I abhor doing. This is why we will stick with Domestic and Asian, with a small splattering of light Euro work. How do I want us to stand out from the crowd? I am a very respectful person until I am disrespected. I am loyal to a fault... I can be overly so, almost fanboyish, but I will drop you like a bad habit if shit comes apart. We both are skilled craftsmen who take pride in our work. We fix cars many other shops can't. We want to provide top quality service, both from our workmanship to the component quality. We will not skimp on cheap parts. We will be honest, and effective. We will not rush through your repair, as quality counts, and if you want to wait for an oil change and rotation we can give you directions to Bob's Tire up the road. We will develop relationships with our customers, and I want the technician working on the car to be in touch with the customer. I feel this builds a bond of trust, and it makes the tech put a face to the vehicle... and personalizing the car instills a bit more pride in the work they do to the car. I guess that is my starting point.

The AWD G-body is WAY more cool. You have to consider huge drivetrain losses and the fact that it is a mild Ling build. Besides, in reading the article it doesn't sound like the tuner is really all that good. They did throw a rod in the initial tuning... Odds are it is a conservative tune now.

I have been talking to a guy I worked for for 13 years. He is a self made multi millionaire. He came from a family of 10 kids with nothing, and is now worth (I would estimate) $50-75M. I know he has recently sold off a lot of commercial property over the last few years for roughly $30m, plus he still owns a bunch of commercial property and ~50 rental properties. Bottom line is, he is brilliant at what he does, and he started out renting a 2 bay shop with $300 in his pocket ~40 years ago, a high school drop out with a 10th grade education. He was a great boss, took care of my health insurance and was always at my house when I had cancer. I respect him and I am feeding off all the information he is sharing with me about opening my business. He has informed me my name must be the next step. He insists on using my name; Seth's *****. I won't use my last name for a couple reasons, and he says he understands, but he said that people should know you are the boss when they walk in, so use your name. It makes the initial relationship seem more personal/intimate for the new customer. I insist on being more low key. You guys get the name... My "ID" so to speak, but loosely with my name in it. Plus the "T" makes my employee feel more valuable, as he is known as Trey. He said "I can pretend"

The trunk is a bass trap. I had to remove the rear seat sound panel. It was the only way.

Same as nicotine really,it is the most addictive drug..Nicotine isn't the most addictive. I quit heroin much easier than nicotine, and it was no short term low dollar habit. Between coke and heroin I was on a $3-500 a day habit, so yes I have synapse issues associated with long term and hard core heroin use... Nicotine still owns me to this day. Chewing tobacco or cigarettes? I smoked cigs for over 35 years. Now I vape and smoke an occasional cigar. Been cig free for just a couple months shy of 2 years now.

Wave plate warranty has been extended on 07-10 vehicles to 10 year 120,000 miles.Price is about right. Damage should be significant and the trannys are not really serviceable. Trans rebuilding is almost a thing of the past... very few out there doing them. Thanks. She is at 134. Completely fucked. :-) She should contact GM. The dealer will tell her to fuck off, but corporate does extend warranties from time to time.

I think next week, since I am taking the week off. I need to see God again soon.

Yes. It is a bizarre experience. You are off like a rocket in nearly total silence. Just a bit of road noise and motor whine. It feels really solid. The ride experience is actually very nice, overall. I go to a lot of TEVA (Triad Electric Vehicle Association) meetings as part of my marketing for hybrid and electric car repair. There are 4 people who own Teslas that are part of the club. I actually have gotten to experience some really cool electric and hybrid vehicles and concepts with the club. What is your opinion on the hybrid QX60?.."HEV" I have wildly varying opinions on Nissan HEVs. The design implementation is fantastic, using mostly Toyota's platform... same battery, inverter, transmission. I am a big fan of how Toyota implements their hybrid design. Nissan uses them as a massive boost for their hybrids, relying more on the gasoline engine with a battery boost, which translates to excellent performance, and stunning throttle response. The Altima HEV is a fucking beast of a 4 cylinder off the line, but has tremendous manners in traffic. But they have big issues with their auto stop programming. Leave it to Nissan to fuck shit up from a programming aspect. They use auto stop so much that carbon buildup is causing massive engine damage, with replacement coming early if you don't do extremely frequent intake maintenance, like cleaning on a professional level every 15,000 to 30,000 MAX! Also they are having dry trans sump related failures as the come into gear dry and rolling, which beats the fuck out of the clutches. I have no real personal hands on with the QX, but expect the same issues/drivetrain/logic and therefore the same pattern failures.

Same as nicotine really,it is the most addictive drug..Much like keeping marijuana illegal, it all comes down to money and a lack of knowledge. J Actually, the issue with weed is how little it could really be taxed. It is super easy and inexpensive to grow. IIRC the total cost of growing weed is less than 5% the cost of tobacco. Taxing a nearly free to produce product in a manner that the market will deem acceptable is a difficult task. In all seriousness we would toss some seeds in the fields when we were kids, come back 2 months later and pick buds. It requires almost no effort, no prep, no cost.

did it burn through your tympanic membrane? I actually don't have ear drums. I had ear problems as a kid and had so many surgeries that they have fallen apart. They tried reconstructing my left ear drum, but it collapsed again. It is hilarious when a new doctor looks in my ears! Seriously? How bad is your hearing?? Not as bad as you would think. There are certain high and low frequencies I can't hear, but otherwise it is fairly normal.

Had a family party for the 4th of july I have only called in 3 times in the 2+ years Ive been working thereI would probably write you up if you refused to come in for a shift you had been scheduled for. Don't agree to work if you can't/don't want to. Depending on if you lied about not comming in I would fire ya actually.Did you find someone to replace you or did you pass that buck too? You are a smart kid, don't let a shitty work ethic spoil your future. For the record, the amount of times you call in means so little. If you do it once when you are needed, it destroys any credibility you have earned. Yes someone filled in for me.And about the work ethic, I dont think any of you guys would be thrilled about working at Burger King for minimum wage, not making an excuse, just saying that it is not a "cool" job to say the least I see a ton of things wrong in the way you think.... 1. It's a holiday, if everybody made their plans in advance and the schedule was clear cut, you ended up changing other people's schedules and that's not cool 2. What do you do there to make more than the minimum wage? Is it really something that deserves more than minimum wage? 3. Apply to other jobs. There is no excuse. Day to day I hear people complaining about their minimum wage job, yet when they want to apply to a better job they lack motivation, they act like self-entitled potatoes. So, quit yer bitchin, suck it up and turn the ambition to 11 if you want to get somewhere. I didnt change nobody's schedule, there was already someone working the same position as me, but it did make it tougher on them, and I just turned in a few applications in the past day. Not trying to sound like a dick, but I hope you take those opportunities more seriously than your current job. My youngest would kill for your job. You develop a work ethic early in your job path, and you need to work on that from here on out, bud. Hopefully us harping on you will have a beneficial effect.

Damn man! Sounds like some shit that would happen to me. I have never even heard of such shit. If you had told me that feul in the ear would make a big lumberjack like fucker like myself roll around on the floor in pain screaming and cursing I would have said you were full of shit. But a quick google search shows it really hurts like that.

Went to talk to my old boss man tonight. I have the utmost respect for him as a person and as a businessman. Trying to get more pointers on opening my shop. I am getting frustrated at the lack of good locations available in my area. I really can't afford the real estate and construction costs associated with a shop right now.

What are you looking for. We have a Roku and an XBox 360. They both have there pros and cons. The newest Roku 2 is hard to beat IMO. Apps like netflix and such, but would also like to stream live cable programs as well..local news,History channel,Discovery channel..ect Aside from streaming HBO, and some apps that allow you to stream from your cable co (you must pay for service) you won't get live TV. I have Roku stick, Roku 3, and Chromecast. I like the Roku 3 best of the group. The stick offers many of the same functions as the 3, but the stick is rather large and a PITA to plug in with that retarded power adapter. I like the fact that my digital copies feed to my boxes as well. Catastrophe Girl has a web page with every channel available for Roku as well. It is open source, which rocks. I don't know your linked gear at all. I never heard of it myself..I know nothing about the smart boxes or sticks never tried them..Only ones i have heard of is the few you listed..I have digital cable but I really dont want to add another box and run cable..Plus my LED is not a smart TV..I thought of just buying a Blue ray player with WI-FI. I researched them a couple years ago and grabbed the Roku based on my research. Sadly it was not what I had hoped it would be. I still pay for TV service (but I am with DirecTV). However, I really do like what it offers. I buy all my movies on BluRay with digitsal copy so I can watch it on Hulu or Vudu anywhere in the house or on the go. Netflix is super easy to access as well. Plus there really are a shit ton of channels out there to suit your needs. I still think Roku is the shiznit...

I was popping a fuel line off a RX400h today and pressurized fuel shot out towards my eyes. I have really good reflexes so I turned away before it got into my eyes and it went straight into my ear canal. At first I was like WTF? Then it started to burn. I started to walk towards the tech I work next to and asked him for a cup or bottle of water then it hit me. I yelled out in pain a string of curse words that would have made a sailor blush. I rolled around on the floor cursing at my co worker for not getting my water. After an hour of flushing and fading in and out of reality because of the pain things settled down. Holy fuck that hurts! I am having a hard time hearing, and have to take ibuprofin to stop it from ringing. Fucking ridiculous.
