It's not terribly bad. I have done a ton of them, and can generally get them done in ~2.5 hours. Book time is 6 hours or so.I suggest you get the premium FelPro set. The steel with rubber... the plastic intake gaskets are worthless. You absolutely MUST torque the lower intake manifold. The gaskets are delicate, and the torque is very light. If you get the FelPro gaskets they will have the torque listings on the instructions included. Also, carefully clean all the old gasket material from the plenum surface. Remove the plastic retainers on the lower manifold from this surface as well. The ends of the plenum have a propensity to crack if the surface contact is not perfectly smooth. I can't tell you how many times I have had a shadetree and even a professional's work come to me with odd screaming noises when it is cold, or misfires, or lean codes and found the plenum cracked. Be careful of the pushrods. You will have to remove them to pull the intake gasket. They are 2 different lengths. The intake pushrods are shorter. Put the longer exhaust pushrod in an intake spot and you will have a pretzel. I have a cardboard box I have punched holes in and place rags inside it (to absorb the oil from the pushrods). Just mark the box "front of engine" on the appropriate side and it will be simple and mindless to reinstall the pushrods correctly/

According to the doctor she was about 1 or 2 shakes away from being decapitated. She is wearing a brace like she suffered whiplash, but she can walk, so that is good. If it is not overheating, I would just keep an eye on it. A Tsat will cause it to overheat, not just get a little high in the overflow. As long as it is not boiling into the overflow (yes it will bubble and gurgle heavily if it were boiling) there is no real need for concern.

So my mother breeds Scottish Terriers. When she doesn't have a litter at the house she has 7 dogs. 2 breeding females (one toy and on pure white) and 5 males. Her white bitch just had a litter a few months ago (her first) and the older bitch was sold off after the first litter. So far they have $3k tied up in vet, surgery, and 24 hour observation costs.

No. Sounds like normal operation to me. The overflow is there to trap coolant as it expands due to heat, and as the engine expands (which shrinks the cooling system capacity). The radiator cap is desinged to vent the cooling system when it reaches a certain pressure (which builds because of this expansion and contraction). So the hose should generally always feel as hard as it did today (since the pressure is regulated by the cap). As long as the temperature is fine, I wouldn't sweat it. Obviously the cap is working as intended (hose is showing pressure, so it is holding, and the overflow is filling and draining, so it is relieving pressure and drawing coolant back in).

This new scanner takes fucking forever to update. I have been updating Ford for 3 hours now... and it has over 30 makes available. I think I am just going to update the usual vehicles I see in the shop.

I thought you just got the biggest baddest one Snap-On made? I do. But all aftermarket scanners have their weaknesses. This unit will fill in a lot of gaps for me, and it is very reasonable. The SnapOn unit Is soft on Korean cars (Hyundai, Kia, and Daewoo which also encompasses Suzuki and entry level GMs like the Aveo), and small line Asians like Subaru. The Euro is very good on VW/Audi and BMW, but it is weak elsewhere. It is also soft on many security systems. The new scanner is lightning fast on the Koreans and fills a lot of my security system gaps. The Euro package is vast, and from my understanding very stout. If you have a Bugatti, I have a factory level scanner now Thought you had a loaded Solus? Solus? No sir. I am several rungs up the ladder. I have a Verus. I have images with the new scanner and a comparison with the Verus. You guys will see the vast ability of options the Verus offers compared to the new Maxidas. The Maxidas and the Verus. This is everything the Maxidas comes with. This is the very base portion of the Verus, and the Euro adapters above the Verus. The Verus and the other adapters, cables, and wireless unit. The Verus is an exceptional tool, and there is a reason it costs 5 times as much as the Maxidas. And the Base Verus with the Euro adapters...
