another amp recomendation
illestG posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i need some one to suggest a decent amp for me. from searching through other threads these are the questions i have seen others ask and i am sure someone is going to ask so i will save you the trouble running 2 Fi ssd 10's d2. not really to concerned with sound quality. mainly looking for noise budget 300 if possible system goals 1300 at 2ohms *650rms each* electrical background i know what im doing your cars electrical background it will be fine i promise space available for your amp more than i will ever need for 1 amp vehicle you are using g35 sedan style of box 2.3 cubes ported at 33hz married no kids 5 month old daughter your name! kenny what ohm load would you like to run subs will be wired at 2 ohms unless you can recommend a amp thats .5 stable -
another amp recomendation
illestG replied to illestG's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
first i would like to thank you all for the help. and then i want to say that i made a huge mistake by saying that my subs are D2 i meant to say that they are D1. which im sure now makes a huge difference. -
well the time has come that my stock bose unit is starting to take a crap. its a pretty well known problem in these cars. so i am going to be switching it all out slowly i already have two Fi SSD 10s in a ported box. right now they are being powered by one audiopipe apsm-1300. each only getting 300wrms. which sounds pretty good for now. all the speakers are stock and so is the deck. plans - on its way is - another audiopipe apsm-1300 so that i can run one amp for each sub. (yes i know i could have just got a big enough amp to run both subs. but im not doing that) will be running 1000wrms to each sub a metra dash kit for the new deck. Kenwood Excelon KDC-X794 deck ebay voltmeter new box for now im keeping the stock bose speakers and the stock bose amp for those speakers until i can afford to get some new stuff. this is already a budget build which is why im not buying "the best" stuff once stuff starts arriving i will have pictures and updates for everything

wow that looks awesome. looks like a oldschool home stereo box. but a very fancy version. good job
-
i love it. i used to have a 65 bug. had 2 12s in it. i never heard a system hit so hard than in my bug. those cars are perfect for audio builds

here is the new deck and voltmeter installed with a switch. right now the meter is being held on with double sided tape the the cubby. but im going to get a peice of splastic and cut a square whole in it and then mount it in that and glue that to the cubby

yes that is a big ass box of cheezits. no those are not cheezit crums. its sawdust

UPDATE: here is a picture of my new box with both amps mounted to the top and the power/ground wires plugged into the amp and the stinger splitters. i need to cut the power/ground wires to the correct length so it will look nicer but for now this will work shitty phone picture

haha. some funny post in this thread. bunch of looney toons in here. well only 2 actually. but on topic. i get my wire from them as well. great quality

-
which specs do you need exactly. i dont know all of them. 800 rms dual 1 or dual 2 ohm weight is around 23 pounds i think
-
ok cool. 30 is perfect. it looks way longer than that but if its 30 then thats perfect.
-
haha the stock bose unit took a dump. its no good anymore
-
yay. i want now. that shit looks super wide though. hopefully the guy built it to the right width
-
unfoltunatly on the sedan its just the ski whole
-
yea pretty much. i just have to make sure i have enough wire to wire everything the way i want to wire them and get the rca's
-
not sure yet. if i have time i am going to pull everything out of the car, take the subs out of the box, plug in all my new wiring and then put the subs in the back seat til i get that box and amp from you on sunday. and IF i have the time to do that then yea i will do the install on sunday

still dont have a picture since its raining and i dont feel like opening my trunk in the pouring rain. but here is a picture for you. nothing special. just my stinger splitters for the power and ground wires for the amps
-
oh ok cool. is it a stanced jetta?
-
haha ricky you will see it sunday. btw are you going to have room in whatever you are driving that day to bring my box to me?
-
there is no real problems with the stock amp/speakers and an aftermarket deck. the only problem with any of the bose system in the G is that the channels start not working after a while. for instance right now, when i play a cd. only the front right speaker works. yet when i play the radio. they all work.

maybe i am wrong and i appreciate you bringing this up because i did not know this. but could i just set the dials all to the same spots on both amps? I really dont know to be honest, Im just starting to increase my knowledgee about electrical. I do know that if youre running 2 amps there is a dominant amp and slave; this may affect settings. Like I said, hopefully someone who knows more will help inform us both on the matter. Until then, you may want to hold off on the two amp idea just because Im sure you dont want to deal with the extra difficulty. ok thanks for the heads up
