I about forgot that Woofersetc and SSA stores sell Zed amps. Talking to Stephen is always good for learning something and a few laughs though... Sometimes I think I buy these just for an excuse to call him up and chat for a bit. JBL/Crown developed a problem in the input section. Cost me a hair under 300$ just to ship it out for repair..... NOBODY is jelly of that. Crown will be up for sale after it's been repaired. I really enjoyed it, but if Minotaur goes bad I can ship for < 30$ and I know Stephen will take care of me on warranty and even outside warranty it would be a cheaper fix than most of the Korean 3K's It's pretty musical as it sits now, I'm just looking for more passanger friendly. Amps strapped, each strapped pair driving 3 coils in series for 4.2 nominal load. With the in/out options on these amps it is VERY easy to slave all to one. I also ordered another Minotaur yesterday since I now own 5 neo sig motors, so 5 of something may be in my future as well. That's a pretty cool way of wiring it, never thought of that. On an unrelated note, I just finished bracing my roof and my hand is absolutely covered in white silicone. I hope nobody sees it and gets any funny ideas.

sounds like you designed the box poorly. I can send you the box design if you want...hell the box before this even had a flared aero and it still has a TON of port noise. By the way the port noise happens at almost inaudible volume levels, it's not something that just becomes noticeable as you turn it up real loud, it's there no matter what. Thanks for the links Sen. Most of the products I've had from them weren't good at all, they were pretty obviously extremely cheap and lower quality in their design and construction, though their customer service was top notch. Just glancing at the page, assuming they used a quality buytl compound designed to actually function as a constrained layer damper it should be fine although there isn't enough information on the website to determine how effectively it actually performs as a CLD. The price seems relatively in-line with comparable products. However, I will also say that there is more to being a quality provider of sound deadening than selling a good product. They also need to have the experience and technical understanding to be able to assist customers in their purchase and application of the product to allow them to achieve their goals in the most efficient, effective and cost effective manor. I doubt anyone in the industry will ever be able to match Don in that arena, which is why he'll continue to be the only person/company/product I'll recommend. What have you bought from Knu that wasn't good quality? Fused and unfused distribution blocks. I had a 0/1ga to 4ga unfused block with the Kompression fitting. The nut for the fitting on the 0/1ga side was wider than the block was tall so it would hit the base and jam when you tried to tighten or loosen it, which made it a total PITA to use. I had a 4ga to 8ga fused distro block that arrived broken which was obviously from the factory overtightening the screws and cracking the plastic. I had a 4ga to 8ga unfused block and the set screw holes were drilled crooked and off center. Out of the order of 5 blocks I had problems with 3 of them. It was just overall low quality and quality control. However I will say when I emailed them & told them about the broken block I had a replacement on my doorstep 2 days later. Communication was quick and they replaced it no questions asked, didn't even request the broken one back. I didn't like the products but I won't take the quality of their customer service away from them, it was top notch. That's pretty shitty, I ordered a few distros myself and never had any of those issues. But great customer service is good to hear. If the company is willing to admit to their faults and make up for it like that then they are doing something right.

What have you bought from Knu that wasn't good quality? I know that some of their rca's have been known to fail, and their battery terminals suck in my opinion. I haven't had any issues with their power wire. Huh, never heard that about their RCA's...I've used a few different types of their RCA's and all of them have treated me well. I can't comment on the terminals

The price seems pretty on spot with other deadener companies and the specs seem pretty good. Knowing Knu it's most likely good quality.

Alright, returned the tubes of 400 I got and tried out some of the 375. Definitely a good switch, this stuff is way easier to use. The 375 has a consistency similar to liquid nails but cures up to be harder. The 400 was like having a tube full of pudding, the stuff dripped so badly, and when you released the pressure from the caulking gun it still kept coming out and wouldn't stop...major PITA. Moral of the story: this shit is junk This stuff is awesome My roof before I started bracing (has audiotechnix 60mil and weatherstripping on it to prevent headliner slap): Took some pieces of wood around 3" wide by 12" long and cut a few kerfs in them to allow it to shape itself to the roof. Pretty much just put a ton of 375 on the side that isn't kerfed, stick it to the roof, hold it in place with some pieces of wood and then do a thick bead all around it, and fill up any gaps that are left. Any extra 375 I had left I filled up those long metal braces with. There was a small hole on each end that I filled it up with. Filling up each brace uses up close to a tube but luckily that 375 only costs like 3 bucks each at HD. Need to go back to HD to pick up some more 375 because I used up a lot more than I thought I would, so I'm just gonna let those 2 braces cure up overnight and then get the other 2 in tomorrow.

Those 700's only cost around $20 more than the 500's, I think I'll give those a shot and see how they sound. A lot of reviews say they don't get muddy when you turn up the volume which is a huge plus for me. I personally went for better cans than the XBs... I have a set of Beyerdynamics.... Even without a headphone amp sounds great.. I am using a Marantz receiver output for it though.... But yea, try out the XBs... I'm not too much of an audiophile to need anything better than the 700's lol. (Not saying I can't appreciate a nice set of cans, but I don't listen to enough uncompressed music for me to get the most out of them)

Nope... USB DAC will NOT go through your onboard sound or even if you had an add-on card.... The USB bypasses that and goes directly through the unit... Yep I've heard a lot of good from those. Other problem is I don't have a sound card on my comp so I would be rocking onboard lol. Would probably be way better than just using these headphones though no worries about the sound card... onboard audio can reproduce way more than enough signal and current for those headphones... I don't really like the 500s, my fav from that line was the 700s... But that is just me... It's not the strength of the signal I'm worried about it it's the background static you get with onboard that bugs me, but I guess so long as I'm listening to something I won't notice it lol. And yeah the 700's is what I hear a lot of good from. If you really wanted to you can get a USB/headphone amp and not have to deal with that.... lol.... more research.. I cheat though, I worked for Sony for over 6yrs.... Ask yourself, do you really want to hold up 150+ lbs of subphones when you listen to music? I think his head is big enough ! ZING!!! I use a cheap pair of $20 headphones that I can't hear anything under 50hz with to remix these songs so I can't really pick up on much of that lol. Just noticed the main track itself needs to be highpassed a bit higher to get rid of some of that 50hz cause it's giving the rebassed line some wobble to it from the 2 waves interfering with eachother I use a 15$ pair of earbuds that will play down to 20hz very very well. You need something in your ear to hear the low notes clear and loudly. Sometimes I wish my truck played down as well as the earbuds Yeah ear buds are way better for that. Ideally I would want to get like a 10 or 12" dcon to use but I don't have a receiver or any speakers to use, plus I've tried running subs in my room and I can't find a spot where it sounds good.

Sounds pretty good. Though you can tell there is a slight wobble to it which is a result of the slowing.
