If that was the case, you seriously had a crap box for the Fi Q, sacrificed a ton of FR, or have a strange definition of "low end" Q was in a 6.5 cube box tuned to 32 with around 80 in^2 of port. OA-12 was in a 2:1 box with 1 cube sealed and 2 cubes ported tuned to 40hz with an 8" sonotube. And by low end I mean 28-33hz. The Q did better on anything below 28hz and was louder at around 37hz+ Edit: both had a frequency range of about mid 20's to 50hz So you were impressed by a 5Hz pass band??? ROFL. Yay fartbox!! And you should realize you could have designed your ported box to have a peak to beat it as well. Of course, the rest of the morons pushing 4th order BP won't. Please don't turn this into some pissing contest, I was just giving my opinion/experiences.

What do you mean the screw didnt go in straight?
-
I say bandpass if you are willing to use up the extra space and play around with it. BP's can be ridiculous. I had a 4th order running an obsidian 12 and the low end was just as good as the Fi Q 18" that I was running before it
-
There should be quite an improvement, yes. The box you put the SSD in will be the biggest determining factor for performance, though. I assume you had the P1's in a prefab box?

18's or go home, lol

You and me both lol.

Price was dropped down to 170 shipped, something to consider http://www.caraudio.com/forums/amplifier-classifieds/555795-aq1200.html

Not a fan of the equipment used but it seems to be putting in some work. Stripper pole time

Not me...SUV's ftw lol

Depends what you're tuning to, the kinda music you like, power, etc.

Put up a 145.4 @ 40hz today. Not impressed with the number but it got me a first place trophy so I can't really complain, then again the setup isn't built for metering whatsoever and I wasn't expecting a high score either. It sounds great and digs real low so I'm happy On a semi-related note, I was playing a rack city remix that drops down to 20hz and someone said my tire was shaking. I went out to check and sure enough the rear tire would move back and forth about 1/4" when the 20hz note hit
-
The difference in output between those 2 setups may be only like 1dB. I would go with the icon personally as it is cheaper overall to get one of those vs. a pair of gcon's. You can always make the box more efficient for the icon as well

I think he means 12", considering he said it only cost him $4 before shipping.

If your box flexes at all it can cause issues. I suggest doing this: Go to lowes/HD and go to their nuts/bolts/washers section. They should have something for rubber stoppers. Get 2x 1" rubber stoppers. Then take a hand saw or something to cut it with and cut each one in half so you get a pair of 1/2" sections. Drill out screw holes in the rubber stoppers and install them underneath the amp feet. Tighten the screws just enough so that the rubber stopper begins to compress and squish outwards. Not only does it provide the amp with better cooling, it helps reduce a lot of the movement by acting like a cushion.

Would be cheaper to just snag a 1200 and run it at 2, plus I think the OP is running a pair of DCON's so he wouldn't even need that much power anyways from strapping the 2 amps Want to run 12" zcon d1 @ 2 ohms. Ahh my b. Kinda sucks that you have a d1 and not a d2. In that case yeah you could go for a pair of 750's then

That would be my choice to. Just have to save up more money. Yep. I just wouldn't risk running the amp at .5. I ran my 2200 @ .5 daily for about a month and I was paranoid about it, checking the amp temp every 5 minutes or so. The 2200 stays ice cold @ 1 ohm, but drop it down to .5 and it starts definitely getting warm. IMO, it's worth the extra $100 or so to get a better amp that can do power at a higher impedance vs. trying to squeeze every little bit out of a smaller amp and risking it blowing up.
-
AQ amps will run at .5 daily but I don't recommend running any amp at .5 daily unless you properly set it up with fans etc. to keep it cool. I would suggest getting an AQ1200/2200 and running it at a higher impedance (I assume 2 ohms?)

Thanks Show tomorrow, should be able to grab some vids. I'll get em posted up for you guys

Yeah port length is the length down the center of the port
