    Kangaroux's 99 Pathfinder

Just took a quick vid but it's either too dark out or I need a different camera cause this thing is not picking up flex at all. My whole roof moves a good inch and my rear doors go pretty crazy too. This sub absolutely destroys the lows, I thought something was going to break when I first played some 30hz through it, it just moves so much air too. I stuck my head inside the port just for shits and wow is that violent lol!

Just got done installing the sub, lookin real nice. Flush mount came out better than I thought it would (I always have trouble with the flush mount since I use a jig to cut it out...) I have a few more things to do then I'm gonna do some tuning and give it a listen. Video may be posted up tonight if I get one before it gets too dark out, otherwise I'll do one tomorrow afternoon.

Welcome back I would love to do a low power build just to see what results I can pull from it, but for the time being I'm stick with big subs. lol

Thanks! I'm gonna drop the sub in and wire it up tomorrow. I hope I have enough speaker wire lol. Gonna need to order some knu 12g here soon so I can do a solid run to the amp. I'll be sure to take a vid of it for you guys, don't worry

Goto tools > dimensions just to make sure that feature is enabled (there should be a text box in the right hand corner). Grab the circle tool, click where you want your hole to be centered, then type in the radius (in inches) and press enter. Then take the extrude tool and extrude it INTO the wood. Type in 3/4" and hit enter, and it should cut out the circle.

Now that I'm looking at it I think I'll just skip the sanding until I pick up a belt sander, cause I'm not gonna get anywhere with the tools I have right now lol.

What kind of music do you like to sing?
  9. In the alternator. Oh I thought you meant diodes outside of the alt lol. Yeah just switch it to AC I guess. Make sure you use a clamp meter if it's anywhere over like 500 mA or whatever your DMM is rated for.. I was told to set it to ac volts and measure at the bat. Which I did and got .05vac You measured at the battery? Your alt puts out DC volts not AC.

lol. Gas station 5 minutes from my house has a soda machine where you can get 1 liter of any kind of soda you want for 74 cents. Might be swinging by there for a mountain dew later, lol.

That's what I tell myself the entire time I'm sanding lol! Hard to stay motivated when you do the same thing for hours at a time.

Thanks! I accidentally moved the blade over a 1/4" instead of a 1/2" for one of the cuts so that's why it looks like there's an extra cut there. Thankfully it didn't mess up any of the kerf (as you can probably tell, lol). I got the side and back put on this morning as well as painted the port (minus the kerf, like I said because I need some red paint still). I'll get some pics up in a bit. All that's left to do is cut out the sub hole, the flush mount, and then the bottom. Once that is done I'm going to be sanding for several hours lol.

Tips on starting a wall build?

Good advice here. x2 on the external bracing, try and make the shell of the wall as strong as possible. The last thing you want is any part of your wall flexing

Tips on starting a wall build?

For some people it's a lot of extra work. Depending on what you're dealing with for dimensions, space, etc. it may be easier just to start screwing pieces straight into place. But if your vehicle has a lot of weird bumps everywhere and things you have to avoid then the 2x4 route may be your best bet. If you have enough space that you don't need to squeeze every inch out then the 2x4s would be a viable option.

Tips on starting a wall build?

If you're willing to do the extra work, lay down a frame out of 2x4's that outlines how you want your wall to be. That will make it much easier for you to piece everything together since you're building it in the car itself. Extra work cause you have to lay down the 2x4's first, but it should make your life a lot easier.

Been sanding for the past hour to get that seam flush. My arm is quite numb lol. I need to pick up a filler to get rid of all those tiny holes, and maybe something to color it a bit so it's not so dark. I got the back and side + 45 all glued and ready to go, just going to let that dry overnight so when I come to prime and paint it tomorrow it isn't excessively glossy. I'm going to prime and paint the port and the back/side seperately so that way I can do as smooth a job as possible on it. It's harder to get it to look nice once everything is assembled because you can't really angle the spray can that well. I also still need to pick up some glossy red paint for the kerf itself, but for now I'll just leave that primed until I get some paint. Also...reason for no pics this post is cause I mainly just sanded down that seam and the camera was upstairs...plus I'm tired, so deal with it lol.

If you're like me you probably get distracted when doing box builds and you fuck something up...quick tip of the day! You might have noticed my kerf piece was a couple inches short...easy fix for that: The trick is to use screws that are around 1 1/4" long and to drill it in from the back. That way you don't see any screw marks on the front and it looks normal. Next you need to sand down the 2 edges of wood that are touching. Just a slight bevel is fine. Then, grab some body filler, or if you're like me and don't have any, grab a handful of some fine sawdust and mix it with plenty of glue. Lay down a small bead of glue in the groove you made from sanding, and lay down your filler. If you used the sawdust method, give it a good 4 hours or so to sit and dry up before sanding. You want it to be as dry as possible when sanding, or else you'll rip it apart and little chunks will stick to your sandpaper. Anyways, moving on.
