Does Anyone Know what this sub is...
UNIT 6639 replied to audio-neon's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Whatever that thing is, it is sweet! BUY IT! -

Think I waited 5 days for my BL to ship, then it was like another day before it sowed up, on the exact day it was supposed to, 6 days is nothing, I waited a month for my Avalanche 15 to be built and shipped. In my opinion, Fi is doing a damn good job with the amount of orders they are getting and how fast they are getting stuff out to customers. If I had to wait 2 weeks on a sub from them, I would still be happy!
-
Uhhh, how you going to fit an 18" if you couldnt fit the 15's ?
-
Will these be offered at the SSA shop as are the MAW 15" is? , if so I will probably wait until its offered there to pick one up.

I kind of figured my 9.1 does a little more than rated power, but with all the eD haters out there, I am to afraid to be harping on about it doing more than rated rms. With that said, gains will be set to a reasonable level should I power a couple of MAW 10's with it. Thanks everyone for responding
-
Would this work? I know the rms is only 250 rms. The box is tuned to 35 hz (slot ports) and is 2 cuft before displacement. I remember seeing a thread saying the MAW's could take a little more then their rms, but would 600 watts be pushing it? I found a guy selling a pair for $35 each , $87 total shipped to me. I have been wanting to get a pair of MAW's since M5 showed up on the forums, I think I am going to go ahead and buy them and just go easy on the gain. What say you guys, Mark, feel free to leave your expert input

Mach 5 or not...subs and the decision
UNIT 6639 replied to kingsham's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I would get the MAW's , I too am biased, I love Fi , I run Fi , but for the price of the MAW's I would have to buy them just to try them out, I have not seen too many/ any bad reviews on them. I plan to get 2 sometime AFTER I get another BL 10" , they are only $79 plus shipping from SSA, you can afford to try them out without breaking the bank, if it turns out you dont like them, they will sell in the FS section -
I found that my subs sounded louder/better facing the lid of the trunk, I did face them into the cabin of the car though after deadening my trunk did NOT get rid of the trunk rattle. Now I just say f**k it and face them towards the lid, I dont usually pump it loud until I hit the highway anyway, no one can hear my horrible trunk a rattling!

Scott, your running AA now, so where does that leave Chad and his dad at?
-
I owned An Avalanche 15" in the past, I own a BL now, only its a 10" , I would have to say the Q would be your best bet, I think the BL line is completly different from the Ava's. I would opt for the Q again, because they are a current line, ie , should you decide to get a 2nd or 3rd, you wont have a hard time getting them, so long as Fi does not plan to discontinue them. This is all my unedumcated opinion, Scott said it best, if he designed both subs, take his word for it

I was banging it at mid level volume (25 out 0f 60) for about an hour. Its getting 1200 watts rms from a 9.1 at 1 ohm, my gains must be set a little to high. I bought an old bass mechanic cd from circuit city yesterday, this morning I put it in just before I left my home, by the time I made it to work I was at the end of the cd and was listening to test tones, they went from 20hz all the way to 99hz, I only listened up to 35hz before I cut it off. I felt my amp before leaving the vehicle, it too was warm, I have never been able to get my 9.1 warm before. I then checked the BL in the trunk, the dust cap and surround were warm as well. I never once smelled any coil or glue burning, I stuck my nose into the slot port and took a good wiff, nothing. Is it ok for the dust cap and surround to get a little warm or am I possibly clipping my amp . I am going to try and see what voltage is comming from my amp with a DMM, I think I am supposed to be around 34 volts for 1200 watts. What do you guys suggest?
-
Great, if you could pm me with the price when you get the kit together. Thanks alot.
-
I never smelled a thing, it was banging!!! NDmstang, I found that thread about the DMM that you posted above, AFTER I made this thread , Thanks for responding
-
I know Mark , I had no intention of blowing them up then sending you a message saying they were faulty. I baby my equipment anyway, I would likely turn the volume down before I blew anything. Thanks guys for responding
-
When you guys say no load, do you mean the amp being on with no sub hooked to it. I sometimes pull my sub out when i need to use the trunk, is it bad for my amp to be running with no sub hooked to it?? From what I gather reading this thread, its not!
-
Oxsign is a 100% honest guy. Have no fear when dealing with him.
-
I found that same CD yesterday at circuit city, I bought it, first time I ever got my 9.1 to get warm, I didnt know how low my BL could go until I bought this CD. I also used it with my old e12k, that old little thing had myears hurting.

http://img247.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rockwoods001me7.jpg[/img My pic wont show, anyway it was a pic of the box the MAW's would be going in??
-
Hey Scott, were you able to find anything for me for this sub, I kind of put it on the back burner but I want to see about this again.
-
Why do amp makers still put bass boost on their amps anyway if we all say not to use it?? I guess the answer would be because the majority of consumers use them, the car audio extreamist's are the minority that dont use the bb, so the majority wins out????

good mono amp for my 12's?
UNIT 6639 replied to natedizzle's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I own a 9.1, its curretly in my car. It does rated power if not a little more. I know alot of us hate eD/Ben but I dont think there is anything wrong with this amp. I have listening history with the Lanzar Opti lines, my little brother runs them in his SUV and they are all he sells at the shop he installs for. The loudest system I ever heard of his was 4 Orion 12's powered by an Opti 1000D, the Opti line Lanzar amps are preety decent! If you can get the Orion, I would go with that if I had a choice and the money. I was debating between the same 3 amps , the Orion 1200D, the 9.1 and an Opti . I ended up going with the eD 9.1 . -
Will do tej , thanks for replying.

Hey guys, I am planning on trading my single BL 10" to a friend for 2 10" SSD's . I am trading because I just cant come up with the money for a new amp and another BL 10". So I figure, with my current amp (eD 9.1) I would be better off with 2 D1 SSD's. I have a custom built box for 2 10's , but never could come up with the monies to purchase the 2nd BL so the box is just sitting in my basement living room. I am thinking the SSD's would sound great off 1200 watts or 600 each. What I am hoping is that they will be louder than the single BL, I am assuming that with the extra cone area of the 2 that they will be louder off that alone. What do you guys think?
-
I voted for the 2 12's , only because they would fit in my car and they are ported. I would rather have 2 Q 15's ported but they wouldnt fit in my trunk. In any case, I dont think you could go wrong with any of the setups listed.
