Got a question for you all

So while waiting for my sub to arrive I've been messing around in sketchup, which I just learned to use. This is only my second design but I think it's pretty good. Let me know what you guys think. Only thing I'm weary about is how the sub will be right in front of where the port begins. Is this a problem? Maybe I can go narrower on the port and make it longer... Edit: Forgot to mention it's for a Fi Q 12". Also not sure of the port displacement. 3.43 would probably make more sense for a sealed enclosure...how do I take into account the port? 3.43 cu. ft. @ 31 Hz
-
Asked him to fab me up a box design. Can't wait till I can finally build this thing. Sub comes in today.
-
^Not sure I'm understanding what you mean. Are you referring to the last design?
-
Makes sense, I think I got it now. I misinterpreted port length for physical port length, also wasn't taking port displacement into account. 3.49 cu. ft. before displacement 2.26 cu. ft. after port & sub displacement Tuned to 32.05 Hz Port area per cubic foot - 14.38 sq. in.
-
Dimensions are 28 x 14 x 14
-
I have no idea...how do I find it?
-
Okay, here's the final design. Gonna pick up supplies tomorrow and get to work. 2.40 cu. ft. @ 32 Hz
-
Something like this?
-
Take two... 2.39 cu. ft. @ 31 hz
-
I'm an idiot. Misread rec specs as 3.5 instead of 2.5. Gonna redo the design now.
-
Rec specs say 1.8-2.5 cubic feet @ 28-33Hz, how's it too big?

So I just ordered an Fi Q 12" a few days ago. I only got the cooling option, didn't think the others would really be necessary. I also ordered an Audioque AQ1200D to push it. Only thing I still haven't made up my mind about is the enclosure. I do have limited trunk space, the recommended Q 12" ported box in the cut sheets thread will fit my trunk exactly with no room to spare. Sealed would be fine, but I really want to go ported. The car is an 09 GTI. Music would mostly be drum n bass, dubstep, other electronic music, basically a mix of lows and highs. I could either go sealed or a smaller ported box. I just want the clarity and crispiness along with being able to be heard down the street when I want it to. Was also thinking of changing my order to a 10" since it requires a much smaller ported box but it's probably too late for that.
-
Disregard "being able to be heard down the street", probably exaggerated a bit there. Anyway, I think I'm just going to sacrifice the space and go ported.
-
I'm not too sure about that. I definitely am after SQ, not really looking into insane amounts of bass. I'd still like the occasional seat massages though. Keep in mind it's going in a hatchback.
-
Any more suggestions? I'd much rather go ported. Is it really a good idea to go 1.8 cuft? Trying to save as much space as possible.
