Here is a video of the suspension capacity of the DD 1508 vs. my E8 v.2 model prototype - I am pressing as hard as I can without pushing my fingers through the cone of the 1508 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i80gi2_eLUE Before anyone flips out on me... I am not talking down on the 1508 here just showing a comparison. The DD 1508 is still one of the higher power handling 8s on the market and is quite loud -- it is just not a high excursion driver.

Correct. Amps and Sub lines need to be filled out first.
-
You can email me to confirm -- an invoice will come with them when they ship.
-
I couldn't find any records of your Paypal email in my inbox so I figured this would work Thanks!

ATTN: Steve Mead in Texas I need to know what coil configuration you need on the SA-8s you pre-ordered.

Awesome work Derrick

Got a pair built to ship to a customer... Customized with double leads, 3 spiders, and a Nightshade cone. Specs as follows with a few minutes break-in : RE: 1.84 ohms FS: 37.87 Hz Qes: 0.531 Qms: 7.56 Qts: 0.496 Le: 1.30 mH Vas: 45.9 L BL: 16.73 NA Cms: 52.21 uM/N Mms: 338 grams Sens: 88.56 1w/1m NS cone + Double leads add about 80 grams MMS compared to the Z v.2 cone with single leads. The added mass got the Fs down and Qts up a bit -- which will be quite suitable for the 4th order band-pass the customer wants to use.

If the Q was sealed and these were ported, then yes. Same enclosure type... would be hard.

This is a 150mm OD magnet and the E8 v.1 was 140mm OD -- so it gained 10mm of magnet OD. Thickness is the same. Biggest motor size difference is in the top plate where this is 15mm and the E8 v.1 was 8mm. Back plate is also thicker on the v.2 model.

Comparison to E8 v.1 Motor :

SA-8s will be in the first or second week of March.
-
That is the SA-8 cone sitting on it in the second photo.
-
Took a video of maximum throw on the bench :
-
Latest word on ETA is first week or two in March, FYI.

Thanks for the support guys but we don't want to get carried away.
-
NS v.2 will always have a lower FS with a given suspension as the coil is significantly heavier. 149.9 shouldn't be too hard for either two of these or two NS v.2 -- the NS v.2 is made to sustain more power, though.

Yes.

We are holding a sale on the SAZ-1000D model for $275 shipped in the continental USA -- regular price is $315 each. Everyone knows what these bad boys can do! Here is a link to the specification page : Sundown Audio - SAZ-1000D Either contact your favorite online or local dealer or send me a Paypal to [email protected] to order ! This would make a GREAT combination with the close-out SAX-50.4 for a complete Sundown amp system for only $475 total.

Apparently I wasn't kidding about "while supplies last" -- we sold totally out yesterday. I have more on the water scheduled to arrive in 3-4 weeks. I will bring this back when they get here of you can contact me and send payment ahead of time to reserve one.

Sorry guys - but I am not going to stop developing better products because it makes some folks feel left out on new models. If I did that nothing would ever improve. EVERY company changes products -- many manufacturers every single year. So I don't think I should be getting heat on this. If you need a matching 2000D I will try to help you locate one. I'm closing this.

I am going to make the official announcement now that we are sold out of new SAZ-2000Ds -- yes, I am in fact sold out... a few used ones remain but that is it. To replace it I am developing an SAZ-2500D model. This is a new board tooling for Sundown and is ours in the USA exclusively just like the SAZ-3500D. Just a HAIR larger than the SAZ-2000D and over 500 watts more power is expected from it. I am excited about it -- more details will be available once I have the prototype in hand. This evens out the amp line to 1500, 2500, 3500, and 4500 so there is not such a large gap from the 2000 to the 3500. It is too early for ETAs or pricing... but I will do a pre-order once testing is completely. Same build house as the SAZ amps now - just a new tooling ! I'll post new updates as they are available in this thread.

Maybe

The D4s are gone (pending sale of the last two) -- still have some D2s.

I would say on the dash -- as Yoda typically competes in dash metered classes.
