    New product announcement.

    Yes.

    New product announcement.

I'll test them head to head when my updated prototype comes in. It is significantly smaller than the SAE-1200D v.2 and in a matching case to the SAX/SAZ line. It is not an SAZ level amp as it is not 16v stable... the SAZ-1000D really wasn't either and it causes confusion so I am taking amps that won't run 16v out of the SAZ line.

    New product announcement.

Pre-ordering will open shortly... ETA is end of July as they are coming in with the SAZ-2500D. Remember... if you need an SAZ-1000D I have a production run coming soon (see the May sale thread) -- that will be the last of them. So get one if you need one. I don't want to see a bunch of threads complaining like I saw with the 2000D being cut - so fair warning!

    New product announcement.

    * SAZ-1000D on left / SAX-1200D on right -- dual transformers and output inductors + new more powerful MOSFETs... all N channel outputs vs. N-P in the 1000D. * Side by side with 1000D for size reference. * Close up shot. This is a newly tooled board for Sundown Audio... been testing it for a while. The initial prototype was about 200-watts stronger than the 1000D as expected... but I went a step farther and used higher powered FETs and we are expecting around 500-watts more than the 1000D from it. MAP price is $60 more than the 1000D for ~500 watts extra power -- not too bad if I say so myself Expected pricing on the SAX-800D will be a little under the SAZ-1000D for similar power output in reality (this model has NOT yet been started... so please don't ask for an ETA). I'll get testing up on the revised prototype when I get my hands on it -- so far my testing has been on the first prototype.

    New product announcement.

Small ones... SAX-1200D and SAX-800D are planned now... may do a 400D later if demand exists and I can make it cost effective.

    New product announcement.

I broke from the "500" increment for this model and will do so for others under the 1500D as well in the future to fit our sub line. Planning an SAX-800D as well to power a pair of 400-watt drivers, the SAX-1200D is for a pair of 600-watt drivers. SAZ-1500D is staying around

    New product announcement.

Close - calling it SAX-1200D (not Z series as it's not a 16v amp). Will have more information soon

SA-12 w/ Upgrade Aluminum Coil Wall Socket

Only D2 and D4... I have primarily D4 coils in stock at the moment. I don't build a lot of these as VERY few people blow up an SA series to begin with to want a re-cone.

    Sundown SA-8 Pre-Sale

To peak at 73 Hz you will need to tune likely around 64-67 Hz... try pipe length of 29 cm If this also does not work try pipe diameter of 10 cm x 9 cm length. Phase may not be correct from woofer to port opening... photos of box ?

SA-12 w/ Upgrade Aluminum Coil Wall Socket

The aluminum coils are USA made so handle a higher temperature... they cost $20 extra on a re-cone (only available on re-cones).

    need some help??

Smelling a coil isn't really abnormal per-se. Warms coils have a smell to them especially when new. Without clamping them you don't have any way to know what the power vs. frequency looks like. You may be jamming a ton of power on them when it drops under tuning. If they aren't moving sufficiently then cooling is also hindered. These are pole plugged drivers as well so the air velocity is pretty high exiting the driver -- this gets the "smelly" hot air to you a bit quicker. Two things can be done to "get them moving" if they aren't moving much now -- you can use a larger enclosure or re-cone them with a different suspension. Either option will also increase bottom end extension.

    4x SA-8s + The CRX = More Fun

Little more clamping: 2110 watts = 150.8 dB on the dash 2080 watts = 153.0 dB in the kick

    4x SA-8s + The CRX = More Fun

So Derrick came up today and constructed a box for me for my four SA-8s... still two 1500Ds on one Stinger SPP-1500D and one Stinger SPV-70 battery on Powermaster Charger (car off). We built the box from scrap 5-layer pine plywood for testing... we plan to use birch ply for another version at a later date. Results here :

How far are they moving ? IIRC I used three progressive spiders on those as they were for me -- they are pretty stiff.

Can I still get recones for the E8's?

I am pretty sure E8 v.2 parts are compatible... will check when they come in. If you save them until the v.2 is available and buy a basket and parts you can re-build them. The v.2 spider is wider so the frame must be changed too... they are stamped so don't cost much,

The Jeep Might be back !

It may be alive again... drove it around a bit today with no issues. So far we have changed: Coil Rotor button Camshaft position sensor Crankshaft position sensor Going to drive it around a few days to see if I'm comfortable taking it to Whiteville, NC for nSPL clamped power classes Then the real no-wall build will probably start after that.

I will get them then and they will all ship out within a couple days of getting here.

    More Sundown Issues Unfortunately

There is short circuit protection - but protect is not a 100% guarantee against damage.

The Jeep Might be back !

You still using the 16 volt setup? I have problem with rise. I just can't seem to keep it down. Last show I had my 3kd wired @ .25 and my rise was 3 ohms. I only made 2611 watts at 147.3 . I think when i get the rise down and start making full power I'll hit that 150 mark. Just need to keep tring new boxes. I hope I'll do better in the class when I increase my cone area and add over power. I'll strap 2 2500's 1 ohm so each amp will see .5 . Hope that will keep me close to you & cookie. Yep, 16 volts is back in the Jeep. Alot of rise isn't necessarily bad... my box has a ton of it. Just wire down lower or run 16 volts.

The Jeep Might be back !

16 volts -- the Magic Box has huge impedance rise so I either have to run 12 v / 0.25 or 16 v / 0.5 to get good power

The Jeep Might be back !

Changed from two 1500s on a D2 woofer (0.5 each) to one 3500D on a D1 woofer (0.5) and gained a bit... so this is what I will run @ the show. Right at 4000 watts clamped.
