    Project I'm Working On

How about this... the cone is SOLID -- nearly 2" thick of solid material. It's not just a flat cover on a normal cone assembly.

    Project I'm Working On

... do you see any hollow areas in the cone assembly ? There aren't any except where the coil goes into the assembly... it's a solid assembly not a traditional "thin" material cone with dust cap.

The face of the cone is flat but that isn't what is so different about the cone

Some cone renderings : I'm not going to give away what is interesting about the cone -- I'm sure someone will spot it

    SAX-50.4 and Z15 Close-Out Sales

They are all gone - as are 50.4s
  7. I am discontinuing the SAX-50.4 and the Sundown Z15 Woofer. Paypal me at [email protected] to order. The SAX-50.4 close-out is also available at any authorized dealer -- the Z15 close-out is only available from me directly. ---------- SAX-50.4 -- $200 shipped in continental 48 states I will still include a 2-year warranty on these. Most customers shopping for an amp at this power level are more concerned about $ to watt and less about crossover flexibility. So we are closing out the 50.4 and will be developing a less expensive model to replace it without as much crossover flexibility to offer more watts per dollar. ---------- Sundown Z15 D2 or D4 -- $250 shipped in continental 48 states SPECIFY COIL WHEN ORDERING. NO DOA Warranty ONLY These are VERY high quality subs... built in the USA. I have found that most customers simply want higher power handling and SPL and less SQ from a sub at this level... so we will be developing a new driver as such to replace these. I am a bit disappointing as these are one of my favorite woofers. SPECS : Fo= 28.585 Hz Sd= 83.000m M2 Krm= 6.988m Ohm Erm= 0.927 Kxm= 133.190m H Exm= 0.630 Vas= 105.275 L Cms= 107.617 uM/N Mms= 288.070 g BL= 26.107 T·M Qms= 5.000 Qes= 0.467 Qts= 0.427

    The Jeep : 4th Order No-Wall Build

LMAO!!!!! This build should be loud.... Is there any particular reason why you went with a 4th order? They work well for SPL I have helped with several 4th order full walls that worked great... and we have a local in South Carolina doing a 4th order no-wall that works great as well.

    The Jeep : 4th Order No-Wall Build

    * Floor installed... checked with a level. * SAX-125.2 under this side (midbass) * SAX-50.4 under this side (midrange and tweeters) I will eventually build a cover for this lower area as that should help increase SPL.

    The time has come

After nearly four years as our best selling product (our first Class-D on the market for that matter) the SAZ-1500D is being re-designed. Everyone knows and loves the current model as it is a powerful, reliable, work horse of an amp but we have been quietly thinking about what to do in order to make a fitting replacement for a while now... I think that everyone will be happy with where it is going Details will be sparse right now but it is going to shrink about 1.6" following our trend of making amps that are more powerful per square inch (SAZ-2500D and SAX-1200D especially). We are also looking into removing the internal fusing as well -- that was very commonly requested. Details on pricing, power output, etc will be coming out later. I'll start putting out some of the other details when the prototype gets closer -- just wanted to make it known that if you want a NEW current model SAZ-1500D the production run on route to me now is probably the last one (assuming all testing of the new prototype goes as expected). I have a fair amount coming in, though, so anyone that wants one should have the opportunity to get one !

    The Jeep : 4th Order No-Wall Build

Aruco ply from Lowes. Similar performance to Birch ** but a good bit cheaper... have used it before and it worked well for me. ** - It is stronger than "cabinet grade birch" but not as strong as "baltic birch" -- typically the cabinet grade is what is sold at Lowes and ONLY the faces are actually birch. SA 12's out of stock????

They are almost back in stock -- they sold at a much faster rate than expected and production takes 90 days from start to arrival so any increase in the rate of sales can easily lead to out of stock periods. This is especially true with the SA-12s with multiple builds using 12, 16, or even 32 units each... those throw off predicted sales figures in a hurry. This time I was able to get another production run right behind the one coming in... so I'll have a shipment in a week or so and another in 3-4 weeks

    Project I'm Working On

Got my drawing of the cone I'm planning to use... it's quite unique too -- 15 grams weight and I don't see anything short of 180 dB breaking it *laughs* (this type of cone may end up finding it's way onto some of our other subs later) Surround has linear throw up until 2 mm from the basket running out of clearance... motor is linear up until 5 mm from that point. The spider will be just as linear as the surround. So the overall design is linear up until right before things start crashing together

    Project I'm Working On

It's too early for me to say what it can and cannot do for certain -- going on simulations and experience with other prototypes at the moment -- we'll just have to see

Glad to hear you are bumping again

    Project I'm Working On

Cone / Surround are going to be pretty awesome if the concept I'm working on goes well... extremely light but strong enough to stand on. Need to drop some mass in soft parts as the coil is HEAVY.

Yes, for SPL. More usable power from the amp = good Z v.2 and NS v.2 both have shorting rings. Cooling purposes? If so wouldn't you want to ditch the pole vent? Just curious. Thanks. I suppose the rings can soak up some heat... but they are there to lower inductance which reducing impedance rise which therefore allows the amp to send more power to the speaker. As for the pole vent... don't want to lose it in any of my cooling designs. There is more going on than just a pole vent -- the vent is just part of the cooling equation.

    Project I'm Working On

Yes you do --- The coil is pretty short @ 25mm long due to XBL^2 topology -- which is why "only" a 1000-watt RMS rating. I am trying to see if I can squeeze a "mini Monster coil" in there... aka: 12-layer flat aluminum. If I can do that I think running a 2500-watt amp on one thermally would be possible... I ran a 4500 @ 0.5 daily on the Monster and for bass-race runs (149.9 from one 15) no issue... and it's coil was only 42mm long. The "stock" coil is 8-layer round copper... pretty beastly coil for the length.

Yes, still SAZ-1500D... working on pricing details. Will at least be really close to what it is now.
