    48x SA-10s Build

Pretty loud so far at about 3-4mm excursion on the subs *laughs* I think we need some more gain on it due to not having the line driver and using a TON of splitters. For some reason the line driver isn't coming on - we have taken it apart and can't find any issues with it so it's a mystery for now.

    48x SA-10s Build

The 10s, 12s, and 15s don't have any need for it -- the glue surface area is significantly more and they don't come off.

It's a 4th order band-pass -- the rear chamber is sealed and the opening into the cab is the 4th order port.

    sundown products availible on woofersetc.com????

whats going to replace this amp? the 1000D was a nice low profile (cute little guy.) amp, is the 1200d's taking its place? Yes, SAX-1200D replaces it and I am working on an SAX-800D that will, in reality, be nearly if not equally as powerful as the 1000D but smaller.

SA series for sure... they may offer the bigger ones, but I don't know yet.

    sundown products availible on woofersetc.com????

This just went through yesterday officially -- so it's not a re-post. They will be handling a close-out on the SAZ-1000Ds for me -- they should be picking up all the remaining 1000D stock shortly.

    question for sundownz

IMO... poor way to start the message - I don't actually see every post on the forum so I'm not ignoring anyone. In any event - the Xmax is the same as the 12s @ 19mm one-way linear. 1w/1m SPL is not really needed for any reason for subwoofers as it's measured at 1000 hz, IMO - but in case your program calls for it the figure is 83.3 dB

    sundown products availible on woofersetc.com????

Yep, they are a dealer now. That doesn't change anything about what we do or how our products perform. They will be following MAP pricing like everyone else - this was made very clear. Folks that were going to buy from SSA, dB-R, Tech12Volt, Subtilis, or Powermax still are going to do so - but now there is another option. They have had numerous calls about our products so they tracked me down to ask me if they could carry our products - previously they had steered customers into other products that they did carry since they did not have Sundown Audio. Now they do - so more people can enjoy the product line.

    got subs?

yes I had dual 1.4 coils on the last subs and was expecting my cone rise to go up however it did not? I ordered dual 1 ohm coils so now I am having to run each amp at 1ohm rising to 2 ohms? I am now getting a lot less power but still have a lot of testing to do! Are these D1 a real 0.7 DCR coil ? May have pushed you a bit too far down and would actually maintain your ~3x rise from DCR from before. Tried just two amps at 1/2 each ? Should net more juice than four amps wired up higher.

    question for sundownz

We are trying to grow slow and steady... spending alot of time on each and every product. I don't want to spread myself too thin and come out with something that isn't the best it can be.

    Uniform Amp Clamp Test

    Uniform Amp Clamp Test

I am going to go through and drop the SAZ-1000D, SAE-1200D, SAZ-1500D, SAZ-2000D, SAZ-3000D, and SAZ-3500D in the Jeep and do a power clamp test so we have a rough and UNIFORM comparison between the amps in the same setup. Building a Nightshade v.2 Production Unit

We've really spent alot of time on improving glue joints -- it's very critical in this type of woofer. We gained alot of experience with different methods on the v.1 Nightshade -- some worked and some didn't... it was really a huge learning experience in how to make woofers take more abuse. Also, big thanks in order, I spent some time studying the work of David Moore (FixMySpeaker / PSI) down at SBN and took away some good tips from him -- having built thousands of speakers he was a great resource to learn from. I have alot of respect for Dave and his custom work and refer customers to him often -- and I am very thankful for his advise!
  21. A customer ordered four 15s and I am just about done with the first so I took a few pictures along the build process : * Rear triple joint glue and ring - the ring is smaller than the gap and centered so can go down into the gap at extremely high rearward throw. * Close-up of the glue. * Spider pack is pressed with a laser cut steel plate and a Z v.2 motor to ensure good bonding of the glue between the frame and spider layers. * Terminals have a locking toothed washer * Soldered - and a dab of glue added to the stud on top of the nut and washer for long term safety. * Special surround glue - dries flexible and won't hurt the surround material. * Finished cone to spider joint. * Top triple joint ring initial placement. * Some glue added. * Final glue bead. * Leads fully encapsulated. * Leads placed into the cone - care taken to allow adequate slack for high excursion. Suffice to say the NS v.2 is put together quite well.

    SAX-1200D / SAZ-2500D Updates

Called my shipping company and they say I should have my pallets on Tuesday -- would be sooner but Holiday closings are delaying it a bit. So... we'll be shipping as many amps as we can next week, hope to have pre-orders cleared out by Friday next week.
  24. We, Sundown Audio, are putting in another SAX-1200D and a pair of SA-10s.
