Sundown Pre-Orders : SAX-200.4 / SAZ-1500D v.2 / SAZ-4500D / SAZ-3500D
sundownz replied to sundownz's topic in Sundown Audio
These pre-sales will be ending in about ~3-4 weeks. -
Fuses blow when too much current is drawn -- therefore you must be clipping the amp pretty extensively and drawing excessive current to blow the fuses as they will handle what the amp is supposed to produce no problem. For reference... gain is not a volume knob. If you have a decent head unit RCA voltage it probably doesn't need to be turned even half way up to produce full output.

It's about the same as other mid-level 15s @ ~0.19 cubes.

Yes. Just regular goods purchase.

2xSA12 + SAZ2500D = 149.4 dbs - SMD Forum Originally posted on SMD by Greg Kashin. ---------- There was a regional comp this weekend and one of the Team Sundown guys was there to take the first place trophy :yahoo: car: Opel Astra OPC subs: 2x SA12's d2 amp: SAZ2500D 72Ah lead-acid under the hood and a Stinger 2150 in the back 149.4 at the comp dbrag legal sealed on the TL here's a vid testing the system a few hours prior to the comp: pics are a few and blurry...hoping to get more info on this later -- here's a nice video of the same car with just one SA12

Please ask these question on the OA forum on CACO -- it is not related to Sundown.

Something we are working on... Was designed around the needs of our NEO-8 project : Project I'm Working On - Car Audio Classifieds But will eventually find it's way into other projects... I've started a new Ferrite 8" design to be used with this frame... depending on the cost / performance may move up to X8 designation (based on motor the size of the SA-12). It is a bit over-sized from a standard 8" cut-out and OD but that was needed to get a large spider on an eight finally ETA not set yet... but keep your eyes out !

If there are no unusual shipping delays -- they are leaving my factory in 2 days.
-
All the parts are being tooled to work well with any future crazy designs I come up with -- so if I decide to do an ultra high excursion low distortion 8" later on... well, I have a surround that takes 35mm one-way already
-
Concept drawings of cone / surround for this design. We are going a different route that planned earlier on in the NEO-8 thread as this frame allows even more clearance than the one we had considered. The surround supports 35mm one-way throw.
-
Funny thing is the reason I tooled the new style case was for this amp but didn't end up making this amp yet
-
We are working on a cheaper 50.4 with a bit less crossover features... also a smaller 2 channel... two smaller Class-D amps... ... and yes, eventually a behemoth two channel.
-
Been busy with other stuff I suppose.
-
The Nightshades do like to play low
-
The 2.5" coil version will handle every bit as much as the SA-10s and 12s do... same mechanical clearance, same spider size, same coil size. So it will be a monster for sure... no doubt about it. Honestly should sound pretty good too... many folks really enjoy the SA line for SQ oriented systems.
-
Got pushed back a bit... but may re-visit it once the 200.4 gets out and settled in. We are seeing more demand for monster multi-channels than we did in 2007

ÎÒÂ-Ïðèì >> [PRO] Òà÷êè: àâòîçâóê êàê îí åñòü First car is a SQ ride with one SA-12 -- I caught a "Sundown Audio" around 6 minutes (I don't understand Russian so that is all I got). At around 8 minutes they get into the Team Sundown Russia Mitsubishi Pajero ground pounder with four SA-12s. Looks like audio is big time in Russia with a 15-minute segment on car audio !!!
-
It'll be a bit still... frame needs to be tooled and so do cones, surrounds, spiders, etc.
-
They will still be "eights" as the cone area is actually more accurately from an 8" cone.
-
Cool One day I'll have to pick up some Russian.
-
I would be very cautious of wide open bass boost and gain.
-
The sub terminals may be backwards on one of them.

This is how it works. Spider 1 -- Smaller OD (7" landing) -- 10" and 12" Z v.3 * Has really deep rolls to get good excursion from this size spider -- this give more cone to spider distance than an 8" spider... I've always hated 10s and 12s because the spider is SO close to the cone and rubs together. Spider 2 -- Standard OD (8" landing) -- 15" Z v.3 * A 15" has plenty of room for an 8" spider Spider 3 -- Extra Large OD (9.25" landing) -- 18" Z v.3 * The 6-spoke has a bigger landing so we are taking advantage of it fully... this spider will allow ~40mm or so one way without must issue -- well beyond the motor capacity. Depends on what size you are getting as to what spider it is. Every one of these spiders is extremely rugged. Coils will be D1 and D2 coils -- made in USA coils that we ship to our factory.

Original posted by Grigoriy Kashin on my SMD forum : Sundown Russia - 156.39 sealed TL score - SMD Forum ---------- Sundown Audio Russia - another client ride 4 Sundown z18 v2's Stetsom 14k2E 3 Hawker HX400's walled in about 14cubes (not nearly enough) tuned to 39Hz Placed 1st in Advanced3 at the National IASCA Finals with 156.39 @48Hz (sealed on the TL) hoping to get a better vid soon, this one just doesn't show the flex enough official scores from the event IASCA Russia - Ðåçóëüòàòû ñîðåâíîâàíèé

Well, there are actually 3 different spider sizes and types in the Z v.3 line -- so it varies.
