    Sundown X-8 Work in Progress

After some long hours... the final driver design is completed: One cosmetic element that is experimental... vertical logo on magnet boot. Should we do that or the horizontal logos like we are doing now ? This is a HUGE motor... it is larger than the SA-10/12/15 motor. No joke

    Sundown X-8 Work in Progress

Yes and yes... the frame, cone, surround, spider, triple joint ring, and dust cap are all new toolings for this driver.
  7. I've talked to him alot about this setup... putting the rear deck back in, metal and all (it bolts in an out), has only a few tenths effect on the score so this is a REAL trunk build. It has done as much as 153.1 dB to date -- on the dash. And 152s at the head-rest... in the 40-44 Hz region. Scores done with seats locked in the upright position. SAZ-4500D is wired to 1 ohm. I'll get him to send me some pictures of the scores when his internet is back up -- and videos too. They are stock SA-12s straight out of the factory box. No modifications to them.

    Sundown X-8 Work in Progress

We are finalizing some drawings right now... may even beef up the motor even more than we have been thinking about prior -- why not go crazy, huh ? More information to come soon -- hold onto your seats !
  9. Because it has alot of parts in it... It's a ~2000-watt total RMS power Class A/B amp -- naturally it's enormous. Ok maybe Im trying to compare apples to grapes here but The leviathan is 150rms x 6 channels. 200.4 is 50watts more, but 2 channels less. I dont understand the HUGE size difference. The Leviathan is Class-D So yes, big time apples to grapes.

You guys know I can't just work on one...

I liked my other neo motor design better -- so this one is just kinda hanging out as a prototype on the shelf.

We went all out This surround is *linear* for 35mm one-way -- so had to be pretty large. The max capacity of both the spider and surround are actually beyond 35mm but they remain linear up until that point.

You shouldn't need more than the 4 ohm stereo power.

I would run them in stereo on just two channels -- they wont need alot of power IB.

Haha - okay Lots of things have changed since 2007 -- we are much more capable of bringing new products out faster than back then.

    saz 4500 or 2xsaz2500

I would consider 2x 2500Ds wired to 0.25 each for SPL burp -- roll into volume -- you can strap them at 0.5 to achieve this load.

    Sundown X-8 Work in Progress

I made a new thread specifically for the X-8 platform as the other thread was mainly for the frame and also discussed the NEO-8 (the NEO-8 platform will be worked on further once the X-8 is done and in production).

Are you limited to only one battery ?

    experiences with db-r?

99% of customers that buy refurbished amps from dB-R are very satisfied -- we wouldn't deal with them for this long if they weren't the best !

    SAX-1200D blowing fuses

Clipping is when the wave becomes squared off when you over-drive an amplifier -- it has a higher average power and therefore delivers and consumes more energy (can also blow speakers due to the higher average power).

    SAX-1200D blowing fuses

How exactly are all of your knobs set now ? Honestly it's not easy to thermal protect one of those amps -- especially this time of year. Likely clipping is still present. If bass boost isn't yet all the way down -- turn it the test of the way down.
