The box is going to be too large at a full cube, IMO.
-
If you want SA-15s from the first run I suggest ordering now. We are about 70% sold out of D4 units and 50% sold out of D2 units already for the shipment coming in December 12th to 15th.
-
I also hope there are no further delays -- the ocean freight time is unusually long on this shipment... and of course nobody can tell me why. Production finished on time but shipping put us behind schedule.
-
That is when they will get here to me.
-
I am fairly certain the Xcon is a significantly larger / higher powered woofer than the SA-15 -- I wouldn't compare them directly.
-
Yes we do still have more available -- email me at [email protected] with your phone information and I'll get Brandon to call you for CC #
-
That will be fine.
-
We should have many extra.
-
I think I am confused by the question.

Your other 15 is done by the way, Danny -- are we shipping it, or ? -
Updated shipment information -- we have most of the shipment in a big container but part is shipping LCL and they will arrive at different times : Container : ETA to Charlotte customs 12/12/10 LCL : ETA to Charlotte customs 12/8/10 Typically the items clear in a day or two from Charlotte if all goes smoothly -- so look for shipping 2nd week of December.

We did the 15" a while back -- decided to video the 18" as well. These are going to start debuting in mid 2011 or so... likely a size or two at a time. 1500-watt RMS rated woofer -- you can see more information on the line here : Prototype Z v.3 Testing - Car Audio Classifieds

Sundown Z v.3 Prototype 18" Free-Air Excursion Video
sundownz replied to sundownz's topic in Sundown Audio
Video Caption : "Scheduled for release mid 2011. A while back we made a video of the 15" model to show what it can do -- the 18" model has even more excursion. In fact we bottomed out the prototype in the video which takes 38mm one-way travel =) For production the back plate will have an internal bump to bring that up to 52mm making it essentially impossible." -
We even put a shorting ring inside the magnet ID -- will give us a nice linear Le curve to go with the awesome suspension and healthy x-max -- nice low distortion driver all in all
-
Haven't really started on the other designs yet -- need to get this one done.

http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60051 A collection of threads about SA series woofers being awesome I'm going to keep the central thread on CACO to make it easier to update. What am I missing ? I am trying to compile all of the best threads about the SA series woofers as I keep seeing threads like "Is the SA-12 any good?" -- linking this thread would be a quick way to answer AND give good information.

My initial thought is anywhere from 0.6 to 1.2 cubes vented... but testing will be done to see how it stacks up in reality. You will need to cut the holes out larger for these if the box was made for SA-8s, FYI.
-
Estimated mounting depth is 6.83" currently... so it's a bit of a monster in physical size as well.
-
It is a 200mm diameter motor -- only 20mm narrower than our Nightshade / Z v.2 motors.
-
Both the surround and spider are made from thick and strong materials -- they have alot of lateral stability built into them. The surround is also still wider than it is tall at 24mm tall x 28mm wide -- this is quite similar to our SA-12 surround which is 21mm tall x 28mm wide. Being attached to an 8" frame makes it look super tall in the rendering, but it's really not unusually tall. As for not using spaced spiders -- we have 52.0mm from surround landing to spider landing vs. 44.0mm from spider landing to top plate -- the larger top distance provides more stability. We have been working on 8s for quite some time -- starting with the E8... and I've never been totally happy working with a stock frame. So I've now decided to do something about it
-
It is cheaper to tool the 8" parts than larger parts. As for the market -- it's there. The SA-8 has sold *extremely* well -- beyond any of my expectations.
-
Yes, alot bigger.

I will certainly add that to the WIN thread -- tell them great work from me!
