The main difference is simply more maximum thermal capacity. I am working hard to try and match or exceed the per-watt performance of the SA as well -- that is a bit more tricky as the coil is naturally a bit heavier.
-
Exactly the same as the SA-12 @ 19mm one-way linear. The vertical motor / coil geometry is identical -- but it got wider in both coil and magnet OD
-
I am expecting 1 or 2 sizes by early summer.

A few pre-production changes are going on... 1) I am changing these to 8-layer flat aluminum coils from the currently tested 4-layer round aluminum coils. 2) This will raise the cost to about the same as the Z v.2 price now, so they won't be cheaper now -- these coils are about 2.5x more expensive than the 4-layer round units. Good news is they provide enough benefit that I decided to go this route on the driver for the stock coil I am sure nobody will be let down by the added benefit. Otherwise the pictured units with chrome motors are what will be produced.

Price is TBA. ETA is TBA. This woofer weighs 34 lbs vs 26 lbs for the SA-12
-
I am working on the pricing details -- will post when available. 18s will be a bit later after 12s and 15s but we are indeed planning them in this line.
-
The goal is to equal or exceed the per watt performance of the SA line while also increasing power handling... with the great success of the SA series it is a bit trick to do but I think the next iteration samples should be what I need to make that happen. 12s will come first as with the SA line... then most likely 15s after that.

Also... will get a magnet boot before production. Have to tool another one for this size magnet so the prototype doesn't have it.
-
Very close to sold out so I am ending the pre-order on these now to leave room in case any were damaged in shipping to us.

Okay guys -- all the details have been finalized on the SA-15s so we started production today. ETA is roughly the end of November for these to arrive. As always with a pre-order there is the chance for delays so please keep that in mind -- pre-orders are final and there will be no refunds for delays. SA-15 Prototype Photos : Specifications : FS : 30.9 Hz Qts : 0.60 Qes : 0.66 Qms : 6.12 VAS : 92.7 L Mms : 308.4 g Box Suggestions : Sealed @ 2.5 cubes (Qtc = 0.888) - F3 of 42 Hz Ported @ 3.0 cubes tuned to 35 Hz - F3 of 30 Hz Some Testing : * 150.1 dB sealed on the dash with ~4200 watts clamped power... did not damage the woofer. This box is not optimal for the SA-15 but still impressive * Free Air Excursion Testing I shipped the prototype to Russia... so I will post more testing once he gets it. ----- The SA-15s will come standard with the new spacer / cooling ring design AND the new magnet boot covers like the SA-12s now feature. * Rendering of new spacer / cooling ring -- the tooling is almost done for production... will post real pictures of the ring when it's done. * Magnet Boot Covers The motor and coil are the same as the SA-10s and 15s that everyone has been enjoying for a while now ----- PRICING ON PRE-ORDER: Regular Price will be $219 each after pre-order. Based on prior SA series pre-sales I don't expect these to last much longer if any time at all once they arrive. So if you have been waiting for them get in early. DUAL-2 and DUAL-4 Coils available ! If you order before September 15th the price will be as follows : 1x SA-15 = $180 2x SA-15 = $170 each 4x or more SA-15 = $160 each Shipped in continental 48 states cost. If you order after September 15th until the pre-order is over the price will be as follows : 1x SA-15 = $190 2x SA-15 = $180 each 4x or more SA-15 = $170 each Shipped in continental 48 states. All shipping is handled by FedEx or UPS ground -- shipping to HI or AK add $40 each woofer. Pre-sale in USA only. To order Paypal me at [email protected] Please include details notes about how many and what coil configuration you are ordering -- also specify it is for the SA-15 Pre-Order !!!

250 fuse is fine -- solid plan.

Just making sure my amp will be okay without this

It will if it's not in a high vibration area -- that the tie was broken tells me it was in one before -- the tie holds the transformer to the board. The silicone does too, though, so as long as it is intact you should be okay. -
Will be back in the office tomorrow!

We are closing both Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone -- if you are traveling be safe and have a good time with your families.

19mm one-way linear Yes

The total (net) volume is going to be quite big with a small and low-tuned SA-8 box typically, yes. It is a HUGE difference from 30 to 35 Hz as well 30 Hz = 3" x 24" port 35 Hz = 3" x 17" port For that matter... a 3" port is bordering on too small for the SA-8 if you listen at high volumes -- so if you go to build a larger 16 in^2 slot port you have a length of 56" for 30 Hz / 40" for 35 Hz -- now think about how much actual space a port that big will occupy. I typically don't suggest tuning under 35 Hz in-vehicle for this reason... you are talking alot more port in a SMALL box.

Recently came back into stock but sold out again -- we have more coming with the SA-15 shipment due December 12th to 15th. These will have the new spider pack and significantly thicker tinsel lead wires to address the only somewhat common failure on the 8s -- burnt / broken tinsel leads.
-
Yes, we did this -- but it takes 90 days to get our product so it hasn't caught up yet Shipments in December = 100% more inventory than we had 3 months ago well, I hope to make a new order in December-January having products available Good news Also working to start next production runs already even before these arrive -- it is very amazing how much demand is increasing.

... Neo-8 -- here is the other design I'm trying... more traditional over-hung design. Will be testing head to head with the XBL^2 unit when it is ready. Sneak peak as this prototype has been fully assembled at the factory : I would use a different frame if this were to be produced as the spider on this sample is not going to handle the throw I want.

Typically we do not do pick ups.

For sealed go with 0.25 or so.
