http://www.sundownaudio.com/ Now that it is live we'll be working to fill in much of the details missing from the old site regarding woofer specs. We decided to go ahead and take it live now to show the new photos of everything.

Made for local customer -- thought it would be fun to use the Z v.3 spider on the NS v.2 -- we have about 44.5mm of motor clearance and this spider will allow you to reach it. Pretty impressive to see free air I also am experimenting with a former cap as he is running high power. The cap will enhance the effectiveness of our coil cooling setup. Once I get the dust cap glued I'll run specs -- it is still pretty fresh but I gave it a nice run free air before gluing on the former cap.

The cooling should be better -- it is well engineered, IMO. It may not function well with low levels of excursion, though. The engineer I spoke with indicated they test with a mix of 30 and 60 hz together so this would generate alot more movement. That's understandable. Hard for forced air cooling to work if no real movement. Much harder -- of course the SA does it well and even better with more movement.

Testing to see how well it keeps the coil temperature down by seeing how much power compression we get. Quoted from video : "Testing our new "woofer power test" rig... we have an adjustable voltage knob on the wall socket to get the power level we want. For the first 2 minutes or so we are trying to read on the "power" setting on the clamp but it didn't want to cooperate so I changed over to simply amperage and voltage afterward. At 2:20 we have 11.64A/61.6V for 717 watts... after a full 4 minutes and 45 seconds at 7:05we still have 11.19A so the sub is still seeing 689 watts. So we are seeing VERY little power compression even above rated power on a pure 60 Hz sine wave after 7 full minutes -- which is not even taking advantage of the air cooling as much as a lower frequency." I'll use this data to examine how my upcoming tweaks to the cooling system work. Pretty boring video... but I figured people would get mad if I edited it in any way

The v.1 has been discontinued for some time. The v.2 just isn't up on the site yet.

These are still available. -
I am technically off on weekends so expect to see something on Monday.

They are not sold new with alum coils and I don't have any alum coils in stock for them at the moment.

No - we don't do custom color baskets. If you want something like that you could likely arrange with PSI / FMS to acquire a motor from us and go from there with his service.

Yes, D4 are sold out and some D2 remain. We have more on the way due in ~4 weeks or so.

E-mailed you back Bernard.

I am leaving January 4th and returning the 12th -- so will be back to work on the 13th or so. While I am gone some orders that can simply be boxed and shipped will be completed -- customized items, re-cones, etc will wait until I get back. Some staff will be here but operation will be at limited capacity.

up When we have some time I'll work on other videos.

Ohhh the "magnet boot" -- new lines will start having them as we develop them. The Z v.3 will have one the X line also... E line... etc... when I got to Nightshade v.3 I will make one as well.

It's a random box we had laying around -- about 0.5 cubes I believe.
-
I am not changing the gasket -- I'm assuming most folks will get / make grilles to cover it anyway.
-
The 12-spoke is not an open tooling in 18" so we don't use it. Do you mean the former cap ? It's just a part I use on some custom build -- the SA line won't work with this cap.
-
Until we make other sizes.

I suspect we were also reaching amplifier limits being wired to 8 ohm on one channel -- obviously as we get more units in stock in vehicles better examples can be given.

"Neo-Pro Prototype 10 in a small sealed box in our shop for demo purposes. First with tweeter and relatively steep subsonic -- then with no tweeter on full range top-end and minimal subsonic filtering. Obviously my Casio camera microphone isn't the most accurate so there is a good bit of microphone distortion especially when close to the speaker."

I'll have more information soon. Ordering isn't open yet.

First post gets updated as new things become available So yes, the 1500Ds are accurate. Anyone interested please e-mail. -
I'll put up some specs soon. As for the application -- most people in the market for this type speaker buy LOTs of them. May sound crazy but that is what is going on in many places in the USA and globally
