    Working on 500-watt Line

Measured specs on our WT2 : SD-2 12" D4 : Fs: 35.0 Hz Hz Re: 7.4 ohms ohms Qms: 6.00 Qes: 0.60 Qts: 0.55 Cms: 0.11 mm/N Mms: 186 g BL: 22.5 NA Vas: 29.43 L Sens: 85.3 dB 1w/1m Le: 6.58 mH We used a bit different surface area calculation so our VAS varies from the factory measurement. Also our system measured DCR a bit different too. The main point, though, is that Fs and Qts bothe dropped and the CMS is now close to the goal of 0.12 mm/N I'll measure them all as I get time to break them in for "official" specs on our WT2 device.

    Working on 500-watt Line

I am working on a line for those with depth restrictions -- NOT a true shallow woofer but something that just isn't super deep as most of our drivers are big, nasty, deep woofers. The ultra-shallow market is not something we plan to get into but I thought something shallower than the SA line would be nice. Our future "E" series line with stamped frame was not designed as a reduced depth driver either so we would have left this market totally untouched. SD-2 10" -- 4 7/8" Depth SD-2 12" -- 5 3/8" Depth These will fit many under-seat truck enclosure applications. We had an SD-1 and SD-1 v.2 series some time back that were very popular in the truck market... so naturally these will be called SD-2 as the successor. The coil will be a 2.5" former with 30mm winding length combined with a 15mm top plate -- this gives us 12.0mm linear one-way travel and 22.5mm before coil leaves the gap. Dual-2 and Dual-4 options will be available with a rating of 500-watts RMS. We will have 25mm before anything bottoms out -- so a bit over double the linear travel before anything nasty happens. The cone, spider, and dust cap will be the same as our SA line -- very rugged parts. The latest SA series ventilation spacer will not be present on these models as it would add 0.4" of depth -- the frame will be a 4-spoke with vent holes liked the older SA series drivers. The coil ventilation will also be different from the SA line -- this I will just show when prototypes come in (have to leave some surprises). Pricing is pending but will be cheaper than the SA line, of course. I am pretty excited about this line all in all... I should have some samples in a month or so.

730lb raw squat @ 210 lbs body weight

There is as much crap talking in power-lifting as car audio *laughs* 700+ is crazy squatting... I never did below parallel like him and I topped out at 405 for a set of 10 (again, not below parallel - just parallel) @ 195 lbs about 5 years ago. 200 more pounds on top of that and going lower... crazy heavy. Was a bit more of a dead-lift fan myself, though -- not quite record material... but in the middle of a pyramid set maxed @ 545 with no belt or lifting straps (chalk all the way!) -- reps were 225x10, 315x8, 405x6, 495x4, 545x1, 495x4, 405x6, 315x8, 225x10 -- obviously with some short breathers in between sets. No way I'll ever try that again but it was cool at the time when I was younger :drink40: I'll be happy if I get up to 400 again at this point in my life! I have respect for anyone lifting that kind of weight... super hard work involved to get there!

question for sundownz about motor strength

A thin top plate can be over-saturated like in the case of the HCCA so cannot handle all the flux the magnets have the capacity for... also if you have a long coil a shorter top plate will not bring the field out far enough to encompass all the windings and since BL is a product of the flux AND the windings it is reduced. Gauss strength drops with a thicker top plate -- but the BL^2/RE measure may increase or not be effected -- so I prefer it when looking at motor power over Gauss... then take BL^2/RE and divide by moving mass for a good "SPL Ratio" figure. So... moral of the story... top plate thickness depends on what you are going for in the design. With a huge motor like the HCCA, though, for an SPL application a thicker top plate would allow more motor force factor.

question for sundownz about motor strength

Do you mean the BL^2/RE is 92 ? Double the motor force factor would generally result in higher SPL but a bit less low-end extension assuming the same enclosure. It is possible the magnets are not charged well, yes.

    Working on 500-watt Line

You can use an SAX-1200D without turning it wide open -- would be a great match. We are also working on both a 500-watt and an 800-watt amp for release possibly next year... the 800 would power a pair nicely as well or a 500 on a single.

    Early price estimates -- MAP price (actual price paid from dealer) (SA cost for comparison) SA-10 v.1 : $185 SA-12 v.1 : $195 SD-2 10 : $150 SD-2 12 : $160 Pre-ordering would be something like : SD-2 10 : $115 SD-2 12 : $125 That would be shipped in the continental 48 states. Once I do some testing we'll have an ETA and a time when pre-ordering will begin.

    brand new amp missing parts???

Yep; sure is broken! Send me an e-mail to [email protected] with your name, address, and phone number so I can send a recall tag to get it swapped out.

    That is what I have. 2x SA-10 D4 1x SA-10 D2 9x SA-12 D4 3x SA-12 D2 2x SA-15 D4 5x SA-15 D2 These are b-stock subs... some small defect is present on them so don't order expecting a woofer to put in a show-car install.

    brand new amp missing parts???

It may have been damaged in transit (most likely as we flip all the switches in testing at the shop); send us a photo or post it here.

    Working on 500-watt Line

Prototypes completed over the weekend way ahead of schedule and I'll have them soon ! If these looks beefy to you for a "shallow 500-watt" driver -- they should... the magnet slug is a full 7" diameter x 1" tall slug -- half of the current SA woofer. So it has some heft !

    Working on 500-watt Line

That is something I am interested in making in the future -- as I was getting into audio during the x-max wars with the Brahama, XXX, etc Once I get the rest of the line done -- stuff that sells more and can pay for cool projects -- then I'll get to that

    Sundown NeoPro-8 and 10s in stock !

http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/1238679-post9.html "I have had focal, rainbow,MB quart, and alot of other sets of components and these sound just as good but get ten times louder If u have never had pa mids they have a slight warmer sound then most car speakers and can sometimes sound really flat and vocally mostly because most pa speaker are designed to be in enclosures. But since Jacob designed these to be ran ib these are perfect for car doors. Once u seperate the rear wave from the front (mounting them in a door) they really cone alive and produce very detailed sound. I have my doors sealed up with sound deadened so I have created a true ib environment for the mids. From what I can tell with xover points the Neo pro naturally drops off around 4500-5k and it does so quickly but most tweets should be able to take over from there easily .... all in all some of the best pa mids I have heard Edit/Delete Message" Reviews coming in a bit now.

    Working on 500-watt Line

The "X" line in larger sizes would fit the bill for a low-end monster... likely a few years out. In the mean-time the NS v.2 is a beast on the low-end with a high linear excursion to back it up.
