Hmmm... that isn't normal, so I would not continue to use that one.

A few things have been shuffled based on what I want to get out for Team Sundown SPL guys too It's a bit of a compromise between best sellers and stuff that will be popular in the lanes for my Team.

I did not know it was so far down the line. Aaron, Yah, I am trying to make priority based on what will sell better -- especially with my local dealer network. Unfortunatly the larger amps really aren't movers, especially a giant Class A/B amp. It looks like it got bumped down another notch... working on some other subwoofers with Stereo Integrity that may bump down a few other projects as well (no details right now, sorry guys). BUT, the SAZ-3000D still remains at the top over everything else. I'm waiting on the SAX-250.2 as well... I want 2 or 3 of them for the Civic front stage I'm working as hard as I can to get everything out as fast as possible... releases are going to start speeding up now that I am becoming more established so you may even see the SAX-250.2 in as little as a year.

Is 0.7 ohms the DC Resistance? If it is the DCR then I would expect them to do okay, if the DCR is any lower I would be concerned about protection and overheating as these amps are quite small in size. What subs are you running and have you measured them with a DMM to see the real DCR with speaker wire and whatnot? The discount stops at 225 dollars per amp, as is the price for two amps. As a fully shipped price that is incredibly low and won't be seen again anywhere after the pre-order sale. I will get one of my protos back from a friend in the next week or two (you have time to wait as the pre-order will still be running) and I will beat on it at a 0.7 ohm DCR and get back to you.

All authorized Sundown dealers will be able to get the SAE-1000D, including the SSA shop

Not sure if my memory is correct, wasn't it manny? Yep, his is the only catastrophic failure that I have seen to date. lovin it. You deserve a trophy I think

Based on the amount of support required for people who have failed to do their research and install amps properly I may be pulling 0.5 ohm warranty coverage from future "Z" series Class-D amplifier sales. Plenty of information is posted on the forum but I continually get support questions about sub-1 ohm operation. It turns out that 90% of the time it is a gain knob set too high, insufficient voltage, or a load that is incredibly low beyond 0.5 ohms due to wiring errors. Have there been any failures? Not any more than I would expect from just factory defects and user error. I've had one come back that was actually toasted beyond recognition... but that user had an issue in the install somewhere that caused their HU pre-outs to catch fire so even then I don't blame the low load. Three other returned amps traced back to improper strapping that damaged the amps (hence the FAQ). Pretty much the rest of any returns I've had turned out to be working just fine... but had a flaw in the installation somewhere -- these calls are extremely time consuming to trace down since I can't replicate the "problem" when I hook the amp up. I am a small business so an hour long phone call to trace down an install error on subjects covered in sticky posts, and even in the manual, is a big deal since I have alot of other things that I need to be doing. This doesn't mean you can't run your amp at 1/2 ohm or that there have been excessive failures. But, the sheer amount of time I spend troubleshooting installation errors at sub-1 ohm loads is getting out of control so I am strongly considering discontinuing 1/2 ohm warranty for amps sold after "X" date. Since I made the guarantee, all amps already out there would be covered. Not much would change... to date nobody would have been denied warranty coverage. But it would certainly free up a LOT of time on my end supporting improper installation at low impedance. Thoughts? Perhaps even keep low impedance coverage if installed by an authorized dealer only?

The knob will only go as high as the gain on the amp. It is ONLY a gain reducer, it can never go higher than your amp gain setting.

Excellent, I was hoping Mike still had the pics

You want a low ESR... you want high amp hours, reserve capacity, cranking amps, and cold cranking amps. Buy a Kinetik, thats a safe bet.
-
Using one + and one - is fine.

Sure thing, thats okay with me

Protos aren't here yet. I will have pictures of the 15" version only at first, probably next week. The 12" prototype is delayed. Not too much information is being released yet except that they are quite large

Wish I could say this one was happening soon... priorities are looking like so: SAZ-3000D SAE-50.4 Nightshade SPL Woofers SAE-75.2 SAX-250.2

That is correct, you will get roughly 2000 watts strapped @ 2 ohms. The official rating is 1800 @ 2 ohms strapped but you should see closer to 2k with good voltage supply. I would expect around 200 amps of actual draw at full tilt... more like 150 amps with real music. I would suggest a large secondary 1000CA+ deep cycle for that and/or a HO alternator. Mike, That is fine. When I get production units in I'll just swap his out and save the other proto for you when you are ready to buy so yours will match! DaGh0st, These amps aren't crazy like the SAZ-1500D. Expect 1,000 watts RMS and no more, and don't expect to run 1/2 ohm on these either. But, I consider them a good value and their small footprint will be great for alot of folks. Warranty is the same as all Sundown amps. Two years standard limited warranty, with the 5 year offer for a discounted replacement no matter what (if you dropped it out of your car on the highway and can send in the carcass you can buy a new one directly from me at a discount compared to a new one -- as an example).
-
Mike, A friend of mine has the other proto. I can swap his out for you wehn the production models come in so your two will look the same.
-
Sounds great! You are hard at work
-
Chad, The last proto is in a friends car right now, if I can get together with him I'll bring it.

It will be capable of 0.5 ohm usage but I am dropping 0.5 ohm warranty coverage as of Match 31st. Nothing has changed with the amps but it became a big hassle for me to troubleshoot improper installs. It will put out very close to the same amount of power as two 1500Ds. Actual numbers are pending testing but I expect it to put out *slightly* less power than a pair of 1500Ds, but very close.

Yep, Rich very kindly offered to help him out Very stand up guy that gives the sport a good name.
-
I'm working on quite a few things Once the amp line is filled out and a few sub lines are established component speakers will follow... but I wouldn't expect that for over a year.

Edited to include answers.

Not this time around.
