What u think of this hook up

For anyone that is confused... I have a small woofer that is launching in the next few days called the "SD-1" which is a single 8 ohm driver available in 10" and 12" sizes with a $110 and $125 MSRP respectively (lower at dealers when quoted). More information is coming soon... I've been quiet about these ones since when I announce products ahead of time I get 20 PMs each day asking me if they are in yet Anyway... more info soon.

    1500d power setup

I always prefer higher idle alternators as much of the time your RPMs will really not be very high at all, even at 45 - 55 mph.

    1500d power setup

A 200 amp will work fine. A 300 amp would be better, but not necessary.

    1500d power setup

The only problem with 16 volts daily is that your alternator needs to be charging at around 18 volts. It is the 18 volts that is hard on the amps -- they are fine for comps with that, but 18 volts is alot to ask daily, especially for the large power supply caps.

    my updates

It would do at least 160 if you just had more duct tape on that box -- I don't see any! Free dee-beez Heh, nice score! Keep it up.

    3000d

First run is coming mid to late June... all of those are spoken for by the Team. Second run is coming mid to late July -- they will be available to regular customers then. They have an MSRP of $1099 and you would need to get in touch with a dealer for pricing. I don't have any plans for a pre-sale on this one.

    another first place

Oh... perhaps I confused you guys. When I wrote: Hmmm... not really normal, no. That was in reference to Audio-Neon when he stated his 1500D was noisy --- Yes, that is correct. CRXs are very receptive to SPL.

    1500d's @ 1ohm Srapped ?

They will handle it just fine with the electrical listed in your sig -- but won't be covered under warranty if purchased after March 31st.

Awesome score! Usually deadening doesn't work well for SPL... the few success stories I have seen have been with Second Skin Damplifier. Probably because it has one of the most rigid backings of any of the products out there.

    My amps are running hot

The multi-channels will almost always run hotter due to their Class A/B construction. The thing with a Class A/B design is that it is always extremely inefficient at low power levels. Generally as low as 20-40% at lower to mid output levels up to a theoretical maximum of 75% (which is almost never achieved). I can get an SAX pretty hot on my test bench in a hurry if I want to, the SAZ-1500D, SAE-1000D, and SAZ-3000D take some work to get warm

    My amps are running hot

No problem! Hoss' has been making his 1500Ds and 100.2s hot enough to cook eggs on since he first got them in August of 2006... and they are still going strong If you are running at a regular impedance and they aren't hot enough to go into protection, you are good to go. He is the guy with 8x 12" BMs in a truck if that rings a bell.

    2.8 ohms

Roughly 2200 watts total or 1100 watts each at 12.8 volts.

    My amps are running hot

The heatsink being warm is normal, it's purpose is to dissipate heat into the air and it is doing that Only be concerned if it is extremely hot and you can barely touch it.

    Opinions on purchasing 1500D

Looks like he wants to run 12x low powered woofers... should actually work quite well for him I would think I've heard a wall of those RE 8s before with around 1500 watts and it slammed.

    SAX-100.4 Review on ROE

http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/showthre...4123#post334123 Full Text: Well I just got done testing the 100x4 rms amplifier from Sundown, and I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. This amp showed up in a great looking box, so I opened it up and found all manuals and spec sheets intact. Everything looked just great, so I opened her up to take a look at the guts and take a couple of pics for you guys. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/din.../bananas073.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/din.../bananas079.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/din.../bananas082.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/din.../bananas072.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/din.../bananas087.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/din.../bananas085.jpg So for it's first test, This amp would go up against a/b with a Audison LRX4.5 Which is 75rms @4ohm, driving a set of Hertz Mille 6.5 comp set, and 2 12" hertz subwoofers. After setting gains and level matching both amps, I started out with some fav's... Eagles hotel california live on dvd audio, My first impressions were that I was not listening to an amp that retail for less than 500.00. All of the crossovers were doing their job superbly, all cut points were fairly accurate, all power and input sections were noise free. Music reproduction was clean and warm, but not quite as rich as I am used to with my audison's and tubes. All in all it is a great piece of equipment if you are looking to buy a 4-ch amp in the 500.00 price range. Thanks for reading ------ Well I own a retail shop that sells other high-end equipment, and thought I'd give sundown an honest heads up test against some Audison amps. I did it because I was interested in what his amps were all about, and he did it because he wanted the evaluation. I think the tests went great and another thing, the amps pricing is spot on with its performance. Hell I was on another site and heard people talking about how "pricey" sundown is.. and I just had to jump in there and say I think they are right were they need to be with their retail prices. I will say that I have yet to test any other amplifier that is of the china/usa builds that sounds as good as this little sundown. Sorry for the long read, see ya.

Most any dealer will quote you under $599 but all dealers must list that price.

    1500D's Strapped

It's fine, I mainly use it to haul amps around I got the SE model with the 2.0 and CVT transmission, very few other options. I've put 10k miles on it since December 30th and don't have any real complaints other than the noisy factory tires.
  24. sundownz

    1500D's Strapped

Ah, I see. For some reason I thought you had dual 0.75 ohm coils. In that case... what I said about strapping at 3 ohms is the information that you need.
  25. sundownz

    1500D's Strapped

Expect about 1300 watts each at 1.5 ohm... so you would be getting about 2600 watts to the sub strapped @ 3 ohms. Right now you are getting about 1750 watts at 0.75 ohms, so it is a substantial increase. I am a bit confused on how you are getting 3 ohms... since you only have one sub, correct? That would not be possible. If you wired the coils in series and strapped the amps you would be running 1.5 strapped, or 0.75 per amp. In which case you should expect to get around 1750 each again, for around 3500 watts total. One question... is the 0.75 the DCR or the rated nominal?
