    Yo Jacob

Looks perfect Rich, much better than my creation for sure I need to get a table saw because I am completely fired from making straight cuts with a circular saw. Now... I can cut a hella circle with a jig saw... but straight lines are another story

    3000d ???

ALSO POSTED IN 3000D POWER TEST THREAD: Alrighty... so I abused the infamous Pyramid power supply a bit more today. Same setup I've been using for other clamp tests: Pyramid 50 Amp Power Supply 8 AWG from supply to batteries Kinetik 2400 Battery Duralast 1000 CA Battery 2 AWG between batteries 4 AWG from batteries to amp Fluke AC current / voltage meter Sears DMM Measurements: 65.8 volts 49.2 Amps 1.33 ohm calculated rise from 0.6 ohm DCR ** 3237 Watts 14.4 volts rest dropping to 10.75 volts ** - Rise was higher than when I tested the 1500D, it was 1.08 ohms for that test. Presumably since my single run of 12 AWG speaker wire is heating up some much due to the extra power. I also did a few test runs at lower volume so the coils were warmer as well. I really need a much more powerful power supply for this test. Pretty well simulates a stock Honda alternator or something, though! I didn't try to push for more volume on the test HU... I may do that later, but the voltage drop was getting so bad I didn't want to damage the amp from under-voltage.

The BTL doesn't sound bad per-se, it's just not an SQ woofer.

    in love

You will love the 100.2 for sure. It is an absolute monster of a "little" amp The 9515 does well with 2x 1500Ds, but be advised that it is possible to damage a 9500 with a pair of the 1500Ds. I have seen it happen with overzealous gain settings.

    From: Sundown Amplifier FAQ

That one is about 3 feet, actually. It is esoteric audio: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=186-002 They come in pairs, but L and R are separate cables entirely so you can split them up and use them as mono If all else fails... the CHEAPEST RCA cables that you can possibly buy always work. I've heard of problems with several more expensive brands, namely Stinger and Memphis so far, but never with bottom line RCAs. These work great: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=263-400 I have used this specific model... it is even very short at only 20 inches. Tear it down the center and you have two mono strapping cables! I may even start including one of those with each mono class-D amplifier... I just e-mailed Parts Express about buying a ton of them to put in the boxes.

Nick or Scott please check this out...

Scott, Good idea on the peanut sticky... I've been sent woofers in peanuts and it's not pretty! Not only do they not do a good job... they get all in the motor, very nasty indeed. Had a kid pay a packing shop to sent me a pair of 18" BTLs as part of a trade... they used *only* packing peanuts. The boxes sat at a 45 degree angle when they arrived and were full of metal pieces that used to be speakers and motors rolling around jammed with peanuts in the gap. Fun times Good thing he paid the shipping store, they were an authorized ship center so FedEx had to pay up!

    SAZ-3000D POWER TESTING

Chad Hicks measured his at 2500 watts @ 2.5 ohms with 16 volts. If I can modify my test box to hold the DD 9512s that I have I can get "somewhat" 12 volt ratings. My voltage will drop, if I'm lucky, to 11 volts or so... quite possibly less. If I get some time this weekend I'll try to round up a few more batteries to hook up to the trusty Pyramid power supply

Sundown Sub + Amp SQ deal

The early adopters of the SD-1 subs are very pleased: http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-visu...ghlight=sundown Page Three: "Thanx to james i will run what ever i can Sundown in my truck when i previously was a Diamond Audio freak and thought that their speakers were good. I prefer the sound from the SD-1s than i do my Moms (my old) CM312d4s granted the diamonds are 12s and the sundown at 10s but no matter what i have thrown at them they take it with no problem, from korn, jay z, nelly, journey, door, rolling stones, to 50s music. they are just CLEAN CLEAN AND MORE CLEAN" James is one of my dealers who does alot of custom enclosures for Nissan Titans, if you were wondering who he is The package deal is a GREAT offer. If you port the SD-1 then they really get down on 200 watts each!

    3000d ???

Hmmm... that is an interesting one, other drop-ins have produced similar scores. well i might be choking the amp! so more wire and buss bar's in the back is the next thing. then i think when i get the other 3000 i'm going to do a false floor with the 3000's under glass. did you get my PM jacob? Yep, I got it. I'll let you know when I receive the package. Could be choking the amp... at 0.35 ohms it'll draw hella current.

    Updated for Sale Thread

Shipped prices are to the continental 48 states. Paypal ONLY unless I authorize another form of payment ahead of time. ---------- 1) Set of very nice passive crossovers. I had these made in 2003 and never used them... designed for a 4 ohm mid and an 8 ohm tweeter along with 0 db and -3dB positions for the tweeter. Originally made for VIFA PL 4.5" and Audax TM025F1 with a crossover point of around 3.5khz or so at 12 dB per octave. Yes, those are 12 gauge copper foil inductors that you see. Inductors alone are valued at: 2x 0.5 mH 12 awg @ $56.60 2x 0.68 mH 12 awg @ $66.30 These also have Solen Poly Capacitors... very high quality crossover designed with LEAP at Madisound. Cost me well over $200 with design services and shipping. PRICE IS $100 shipped --------- 2) TC-9 Based 12" Subwoofer PRICE IS $150 shipped Used for testing purposes. Nice deep bass woofer. Dual 2 ohm coils, 3" diameter coil, have tested up to 4kw burps. Fs = 29.8 Hz Qes = 0.4215 Qms = 4.4312 Qts = 0.3849 VAS = 32.15 L ---------- 3) TC-9 Based 15" Subwoofer PRICE IS $150 shipped Used for testing purposes. Nice deep bass woofer. Dual 2 ohm coils, 3" diameter coil, have tested up to 4kw burps. Fs = 27.3 Hz Qes = 0.3948 Qms = 3.3876 Qts = 0.3536 VAS = 152.9 L ---------- 4) SAZ-1500D #1 (please refer to them by number) PRICE IS $475 shipped The only thing wrong with this one is a damaged cosmetic carton... it got hit with a fork lift. I won't sell something with a mangled carton to a dealer as a new amp, so here it is as b-stock. It is tested to work fine and does include full warranty like new. ---------- 5) SAZ-1500D #2 (please refer to them by number) PRICE IS $450 shipped This one has its knobs off center. Sometimes they will be off a very small amount, around 1/16" -- and that is within a tolerance. These are way off... they can still be turned but I caught this one before I sent it out. It is tested to work fine and does include full warranty like new. ---------- 6) SAZ-1500D #3 (please refer to them by number) PRICE IS $450 shipped One of the input RCA connectors on this amp is incredibly tight. You can see in the photo, the lower left connector... notice how it looks a bit different inside. This makes it VERY hard to insert and remove an RCA cable. It is tested to work fine and does include full warranty like new... but be advised that the RCA connector is VERY tight. ---------- I also have the following not pictured: 3x SAX-100.4 : Two B-Stock ($350 shipped each) and One Refurbished ($300 shipped) 1x SAZ-1500D : Refurbished ($425 shipped) 1x SAE-1000D : Used for 20 minutes for power testing thread ($275 shipped) ---------- I will offer package deals: 4x SAZ-1500Ds @ $400 each ($1600 total) SAZ-1500D + TC-9 Woofer @ $550 shipped SAE-1000D + TC-9 Woofer @ $375 shipped SAZ-1500d + SAX-100.4 @ $700 shipped ---------- Get em' while they last.

Power output of the Multi channel amps

The SAX-100.4 is good for around ~110 per channel and the SAX-100.2 for around ~125 per channel by design. They are both underrated correspondingly. Dynamic power is substantially higher than rated as anyone who has heard one can attest I had a dealer in California compare the SAX-100.4 very favorably to his Audison amps, which is a brand that he carries and sells -- he tested an SAX-100.4 head to head just out of curiosity "After setting gains and level matching both amps, I started out with some fav's... Eagles hotel california live on dvd audio, My first impressions were that I was not listening to an amp that retail for less than 500.00. All of the crossovers were doing their job superbly, all cut points were fairly accurate, all power and input sections were noise free. Music reproduction was clean and warm, but not quite as rich as I am used to with my audison's and tubes. All in all it is a great piece of equipment if you are looking to buy a 4-ch amp in the 500.00 price range." and "Well I own a retail shop that sells other high-end equipment, and thought I'd give sundown an honest heads up test against some Audison amps. I did it because I was interested in what his amps were all about, and he did it because he wanted the evaluation. I think the tests went great and another thing, the amps pricing is spot on with its performance. Hell I was on another site and heard people talking about how "pricey" sundown is.. and I just had to jump in there and say I think they are right were they need to be with their retail prices. I will say that I have yet to test any other amplifier that is of the china/usa builds that sounds as good as this little sundown."

BL 10" got warm this morning

A coil will get warm enough to blister you with a few hundred watts. Find a sub where you can touch the coil and try it if you don't believe me Ever touch a 100-watt bulb? And that is through two excellent insulators (glass and air). It'll be alright if you aren't smelling it as Nick said.

    sundown ftw

I like alot of 8 ohms drivers No reason to rate a car amp for 8 ohms, though, as most "general public" people would shy away since "less ohms are better." Didn't you get the memo *laughs*
  22. sundownz

Will this hurt a class d amp?

No problem... at least not on the 1500Ds... I have them idling quite often with no load.

    Customer Service

Thanks Ray I am "open for business" unofficially most of the time as audio isn't just my business, it's something I like to do. If I can get to the phone I usually answer just about any time!

    sundown ftw

I'd like to do an uber-quality line... truth is, people already think all of my prices are too high when they are substanially lower than competitive gear from name brands. It'll take some time to be able to offer something like that... if I did I would probably build it in the USA and it would cost at least twice the SAZ and SAX amp prices. Keep in mind I'd have to sell enough for the line to make financial sense The SAE-50.4 is about the point where the decrease in build cost compared to the SAX-100.4 causes it to make sense. An SAX-150.4 is a possibility, but not extremely soon.
  25. sundownz

    sundown ftw

I am working on an SAE-50.4 and an SAX-250.2 for release sometime next year. The 50.4 may be sooner as it is a much higher demand piece. I have had protos for both... not sure that I am totally happy with either, so there will be revision before either is ready. A 6-channel is planned with no information on release time frame at all right now. I am thinking something like 75 x 4 and 125 x 2 for that one so you can bridge the "big" channels for a sub. If things go very well MAYBE towards the end of next year. As for a 6kw... that will have to wait a while, big amps like that are very costly and aren't big sellers. Not a good combo for a new company if you ask me. VERY few people even have electrical systems to support the SAZ-3000D properly. I've got a few sub lines I would like to build in between all this too... sorry, no information at this time. The current SD-1 is actually doing quite well and has suprised a few people
