    Sundown Audio SD-1 "Blowout" Sale

Two 12s vs. one... the pair of SD-1s should really have no problem having more output since it is 2 vs. 1 subs with around the same power. I suggest a very low tune around 30 Hz or so in a moderate size box (around 2.0 ft^3 or so each). Four of the 10" SD-1s would work quite well on 600 watts. I can't guarantee that four SD-1 10s will be louder, but it would sound good Are you running @ 1 ohm on the Alpines now? If you are it is likely that the Alpine setup would be louder as the two 12" subs actually have about 75% as much cone area as four 10s, the the Type-Rs have a good bit more excursion capability. Good news then, the 10" SD-1 has a 0.707 Qtc in 3/4 ft^3 and will work well in smaller stuffed with poly-fill, it is also only 5" deep.

    Sundown Audio SD-1 "Blowout" Sale

Sure... lets say $128.75 for one 10" and one 12" -- you can directly Paypal me at the e-mail address in the original post if you like.
  5. Monoblock describes how many channels the amp has, that being one. A Monoblock can be any class. Class-D is an amplifier topology describing how the amplifier works. A Class-D amp can have any number of channels but they are usually monoblock as the Class-D design is best suited for subwoofer duty. Some new technologies take Class-D full range... but in general, Class-D is used for woofers.

    Sundown Audio SD-1 "Blowout" Sale

They do very well SQ wise, a few Nissan Titan guys have them sealed in truck boxes: One customer: "I previously was a Diamond Audio freak and thought that their speakers were good. I prefer the sound from the SD-1s than i do my Moms (my old) CM312d4s granted the diamonds are 12s and the sundown at 10s but no matter what i have thrown at them they take it with no problem, from korn, jay z, nelly, journey, door, rolling stones, to 50s music. they are just CLEAN CLEAN AND MORE CLEAN" Output is good, about as much as you can expect sealed with 200 watts per sub Of course it won't compare to huge subs with 20+ mm of excursion sealed.

If you can get the TL box specs from Rich I think you will be very surprised with what those 12" SD-1s will do. "stratusrt01" = Rich , one of my sales reps for NC. He picked up a pair of the 12s after he heard my 10s

    Sundown Audio SD-1 "Blowout" Sale

Based on what I know about the Mach5 driver... it would beat the SD-1 in SPL without much problem but will likely take more power to do so. The SD-1 should be ahead at lower power levels as it is a more efficient driver. SQ would be another story, as that is what the SD-1 is made for, it excels there.

The 12" models work very well in a transmission line type box... PM "stratusrt01" about a box for them, he has the perfect, compact TL style box for these 12s

These are 200-watt RMS subs, so two is perfect on an SAX-100.2 bridged. That is what I have in my car... 2x 10" SD-1s ported on an SAX-100.2 bridged at 4 ohms These aren't SPL subs, but you won't have a louder setup with 400 watts. They also sound *great* -- which was their main purpose, lower powered SQ subs. They excel at blending very well with the front stage, and can throw down a bit if necessary. They won't compete with 1000+ watts each on huge 50 pound woofers, but I find that they meet my daily needs well.

    50.4

Don't have one yet... depends on how the new prototype checks out and various other factors. I will say they are likely to be around by late this year to early next year, though.

    2002 Civic Progress

So... I'm finally going to have a running vehicle with a system. It's been about 8 months since I've had a system in a running vehicle, pretty sad all things considered! But... it is coming along nicely and some photos of the progress are attached. *Under-Hood Wiring w/ Knukonceptz KLM 1/0 battery to chassis and battery to engine block grounds. Generic "0 gauge" wire through generic ANL fuse holder. The red generic 0 gauge is about the size of 2 gauge quality wire and is plenty for this install. All ring terminals are soldered... and yes, that is a much larger battery than stock. * Roughly 2 cubes tuned to ~32 Hz thanks to Rich (stratusrt01). This houses 2x Sundown SD-1 10" subwoofers. These produce more than enough bass for my regular daily driver... quite surprising really. * Kicker SS midbass driver. Mounted using a 1/2" MDF mounting baffle that I made. Duct tape used to seal it tight against the door. This thing has 12 screw holes... I used all of them and each one goes through the sheet metal behind the baffle... so it's on there good. I will be sealing it further with aluminum tape when deadening gets here -- which will be Raamat BXT. * Driver side Kicker SS tweeter. Simple install, cut a hole and put it in! These will get time alignment and level adjustment from the Rockford 3Sixty.2 that will be installed when it is completed. * Passenger side tweeter is installed as well right now. * My door is just a hair shy of fitting the Kicker SS midbass along with the window. I screwed this pressure treated wood block in there to stop the window before it hits the magnet. Three 2.5" screws hold it in place and I'll probably add more. My window "stop" mechanism simply waits until the motor is under too much load then shuts it off, so I'm simply making an "after market stop" if you will. It works just like from the factory except the window is about 2" shy of going all the way down. * Wire mess while construction is underway. The fat white wire is Nick Lemons @ Stereo Integrity's now infamous "magic speaker wire" -- it is really pricey Tara-Labs wire. I know what you are thinking... but I have done an A/B and was convinced enough to pay over $350 for a spool of wire. Anyhow... the amps will likely be mounted to the back of the seats when those go back in, if that doesn't work out as planned they will be mounted on top of the enclosure and I'll get some rubber feet to help isolate them.

    Which amp?

The 100.2 would do around 60 - 70 watts @ 8 ohms per channel. Pretty close to your goal anyway At the moment bridging the SAX-100.4 would be your best bet -- I've got a refurbished unit on e-bay right now and my auctions for used, b-stock, and refurbished items have been ending at insultingly low prices lately, so maybe look into that.

The crossover will not be the same being that it is an SAE model, I will likely make a smaller SAX 4-channel at a later date. I am getting a revised prototype, but I did have pics of the old proto up here: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7530

Dome Midrange in Kick of S-10

I absolutely love the DLS Iridium IR3... I had my driver side unit way off-axis in my previous car (BMW 325i) in the factory mounting location. With a bit of EQ work on that side (thanks to the 3Sixty.2) it worked wonderfully... actually sounded quite good, IMHO, even before the EQ work

    Sundown Audio Nightshade Numbers

Rich had to re-do his whole trunk, but I believe he got to 149.5 before he did. As for the 12" Nightshade proto, it was wrecked in transit and I've been waiting on a coil since!

    New Sub in the Works

MSRP should be 200 - 250 dollars for these. ---- Mike, Indeed, I work around 14 hours a day doing something or other related to Sundown. It's 10:15 on Sunday and I'm on my company forum So time has indeed been limited. As for the Nightshade, there a little on my forum that talks a little about it but I haven't said much at all since it will likely be undergoing several more revisions: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7901 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7809 ---- theabunai, I am hoping to have revised protos very soon. I have had a tremendous wait on the coil... apparently it has been difficult to nail down for my parts source. Depending on many things, not the least of which being test results I hope to have them ready in the early part of 2008 in at least one size, with more sizes to follow (10, 12, 15, and 18 will be made eventually).
