I don't recall the specifics... did your amp go to dB-R or us ? If it didn't go to us at all I'd like to test it out on our bench.

Why does it seem that everyone is against sealed elcosures these days?
sundownz replied to JohnHinerman's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I still enjoy sealed -- I typically like very low F3 drivers, though, which either require a good bit of juice or a big box. 95% of my customers do run ported, though, for reference -
It will be on it's way to me soon for testing of performance and final specs... also production costs should come in soon so I'll be able to get a cost to customer price shortly  On to the photos of it all put together !

First Klippel graph is in from Red Rock. This sample is offset a bit but thanks to this data we'll make sure they are properly centered on production Suspension turned out quite flat, linear x-max beat FEA prediction, and Le graph is very good as well. I am still tweaking the absolute CMS value as well as coil length to determine the final production spec... but it's very close!

It is a stock NS v.2 coil -- so yes we have it. We sell certain parts but not all of them.
-
The 10" plays perfectly this morning -- and I'm sure the customer will abuse test it well I may end up needing stiffer packs for him but I think this will do nicely based on what Derrick did to a 12" with this pack in his explorer.
-
I would first take the board totally out and make sure nothing is touching the case -- and from there we can probably help find some parts. I do have a few complete 1200D v.2 boards still as well.
-
I am awaiting our new frames to produce the Monster... not sure on the time frame yet. It is too heavy for a standard frame.
-
* NS v.2 Coil + Triple Joint Ring * Extra large terminals in place * Epoxy on top We'll test it out tomorrow to see if all goes well. I am expecting so but still have a few more ideas if it's still not quite up to what I want from it
-
Spider spacer is in : * The top ledge was designed to hold a bead of epoxy around the spider to keep it secured under high power.

Why are they so cheap!?
sundownz replied to forsellb's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Correct. Used 4500s typically go for 850 - 1000 or so on the forums depending on condition. They are still a very good quality amp -- but being used immediately drops a big portion of product value for re-sale; just like the above mentioned car analogy. -
I've yet to do an RTA on it... sounds pretty damn good, though. Once I tune it down a bit I'll do a response graph on it.

Some videos up finally :
-
Uploading a few videos... so far on music in the 132-133 dB range on the dash and in the kick panel sealed and window / door open (all about the same) peaking at 40 or so Hz on the song I was using. Will do some more testing tuning the PR down as well in the near future. To me it sounds more like a higher SPL due to how well it handles material down into the 30s and I'm more than happy with it for all of my daily listening. I will definitely recommend these PRs officially for the SA-8s from now on.

I got a first look @ the spider spacer... shop had to make some adjustments but should be able to get cracking on these again tomorrow or Wednesday.

Why "daily" systems should not count on impedance rise
sundownz replied to sundownz's topic in Sundown Audio
In a car you have high current and low voltage supply -- which in turn makes designing amps around outputting higher current and less voltage much easier / less expensive. In a home you have high voltage and low current -- so amps are designed for that. You CAN reverse the roles in either environment but it makes things more expensive. -
Okay - I am going to start production next week... and the 6.5" will be in 8 ohm OR 4 ohm configuration (which will eventually show up on 8s and 10s).
-
SA style boxes will work well for them : http://www.sundownaudio.com/pdfs/SA_Series_Manual%2810-12-15%29.pdf
-
How much interest is there in these 6.5" ? I am working on getting pricing and details together... if we can pre-sell a good bit of them I may do them sooner than later before Neo gets any crazier.
-
Correct, they do. You can also get re-built ones : http://www.caraudio.com/forums/subwoofer-classifieds/521553-re-coned-sa8s.html
-
I am getting closer to finalized... still tweaking the coil and spider compliance a bit to get it exactly where I want it to be. I am entertaining making one last small run of the SA-8 "classic" to tide everyone over if this will take much longer.
-
They should be ready to ship to us any time now -- I am awaiting final word.
-
I am REALLY pleased so far... plan to add some mass and do more testing. Tuning looks to be in the high 30s with no added mass, would like to see it in the low 30s
-
We've continued to be pleased with testing -- just working on a launch date.
