    no output from amplifer

Since it is from dB-R you may try contacting him as well
  2. Every SA-12 goes through this test before shipping to the customer. Lots of excursion

For that and for rattle reduction... most of the 3000s have a plastic sheet on the bottom cover above the transformers to protect against a short but some did not and rarely they can touch the bottom cover and short.

    SAX-100.4 3 way wiring

Yes, that is correct as KU40 stated.

    which amp

You need to hook up all of them.

    no output from amplifer

Remove the back cover of the amp and try it without the cover installed. If this works then add 4 layers of duct tape to the bottom cover above the transformers and inductors as that means they were touching the bottom cover and causing the amp to protect.

    SAX100.4 problem

If this is the case we will have you send it to dB-R for repair -- you can e-mail Chris @ [email protected] and get an estimate.
  8. Sounds quite unusual... I believe I e-mailed you back regarding getting some pictures of the wiring so I can check it out.

    Sundown 50.4 Crossover

Looks like it was already answered, but, yes you can bandpass on the set of channels with the x10 LPF multiplier. The subsonic is the high pass part of the bandpass.

    SAX100.4 problem

I would guess it got hooked up backwards.

    SAE-1200D V.2 Teaser Pics !

I have a board that I believe to be equal to the new Audiopipe AP1800 model... as it is built just like the AP1500 but with two extra output FETs - I tested it vs. the SAE-1200D... I see ALOT of folks buying this Audiopipe amps so figured I'd do this test : For the sake of this test I just turned everything wide open just to see when they quit making power. THD was not a factor at all, just wide open. Obviously this is not the ideal situation -- I may send them to Chris so he can use some of his equipment to do a test using a scope as well. The amps are fed with a 4 awg and 8 awg wire in parallel reduced to 8 awg so it will fit both amps (the 1800 won't fit our 4 awg lead directly as it is tinned). Test load consists of two Nightshade 12s wire to 1 ohm and the tone is 60 Hz. ----- * SAE-1200D on the bench http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/1800-watt...0D/CIMG2617.MOV * Power Test http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/1800-watt...0D/CIMG2618.MOV * Output Voltage Test 1730 watts 59 V 29.3 A (calculated) 2.01 ohms (calculated) 12.68v power supply ----- 12x Power Supply Fets 10x Output FETs (AP1500 has 8) The two caps = a little more capacity than the four in the AP1500D. These are 4700 each and the AP1500D has 4x 2200. * 1800-watt on the bench http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/1800-watt...0D/CIMG2621.MOV * Power Test http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/1800-watt...0D/CIMG2622.MOV * Output Voltage Test 1440 watts 57.1 V 25.21 A (calculated) 2.2 ohms (calculated) 13.1v power supply ----- SAE-1200D produced ~20% more power... and this 1800 has an extra 2 output FETs above the AP1500D. An SPL test may be more revealing... I may see if the 1800 will stay on in the Jeep at 1/2 nominal -- my rise is to just above 1 ohm.

I have an SAE-75.4 in the works that will be cheaper than the SAX-50.4 was... stay tuned.

Most important fault... needed more vibration resistance. This was accomplished through more screws in the board and a double sided board with higher quality soldering. Almost all of the failures were vibration / shock related (some from shipping). Second... the single sided board wasn't as easy to repair as the double sided. Not a concern for most customers but an important point to address.

It is our "lower" series made in China instead of Korea AND it is a pre-sale -- pre sale prices are much lower than regular prices!

    100.4 output?

When you say the 50.4 isn't flexible enough, are you speaking with the assumption that he'll use the crossovers in the amp? I planned on running 4 tweeters off this amp using an 880prs to set crossover points, but now I'm trippin out here. Yes, assuming he is using amp crossovers only. If he has external crossovers he is good.

You can only strap amps as pairs.

Correct. You an strap with a Maxx-Link but not internally to the amp.

I'd like to break down the FETs in this amp vs. some of our other amps to really give you the idea of how beefy it is. 1) POWER SUPPLY * 12x IRF3205, power dissipation rating of 2400-watts combined * Our 4500D uses this same part number but 32 of them and can produce 8k+ on 18v reliably and over 5k on 14v. Think about it. 2) OUTPUT SECTION * 8x Fairchild FDA59N25 for 3136 total watts rated dissipation (and these are very high current parts as well) * Our SAZ-3000D had 12 IRFP360LC rated for a total of 3360 watts dissipation and could produce over 5kw on 18v reliably and over 3k on 14v. So... put another way, the FETs will not be sweating at all to produce anything resembling rated power
