Maybe you should turn your gain down ? Are you saying it is entering protection ? If the gain is too high and you do a straight burp you will get protection -- have you tried rolling ? There are 100s of 3000Ds in the SPL lanes so it is not the product it is either application or user error. Being that you are in South Carolina and presumably compete in SPL you should know alot of folks run the 3000s in all sorts of configurations from 1/4 ohm to 18v, etc without issues. So... if your getting protect on a burp you either need to adjust your settings or how you burp. A gain is there to match to your head unit voltage -- have you measured actual HU voltage ? PS: Have we met at a show ? If so you could have asked me for tips.

The truck was delayed twice due to weather and then poor scheduling on their part -- but they promised me it would show up today for sure.

I don't have a specific date just yet.

Did you already speak w/ dB-R ? I think he e-mailed me last night and said you did - so simply send it in as he suggested.

I might try a bunch in the Jeep

10s tested great - the 15" needs a different cone... sampling that. Once all testing is complete pre-orders will open up on them.

We sat an 8" frame on an SA-12 motor at the shop and I knew what had to be done This motor is slightly smaller, but not much!
-
Problem with a 2.5" coil on an 8" is the spider on any standard frame. You will break it mechanically before thermal. I think this will do very well... I am not aware of anyone that ACTUALLY killed an E8 purely thermally (the coil)... and this coil is 33% longer with better cooling. So I think it will work nicely.

Better start planning it ! :)

So... 4 ohms strapped vs. 1 amp at 1 ohm ?

Send it along w/ your invoice to dB-R Electronics and we'll get it fixed up ! -

Up to the top!

No, they are not. You would need a Maxx-Link to strap them.

A board trace may be hitting the case -- you should send it to dB-R to check it out. -
amp overheating
sundownz replied to inkfx's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If the amp is mounted under the trunk lid area with no cover it will get VERY hot just sitting there -- I had a black Civic a few years back and amps would blister your hand without even being powered on... just ambient heat. -
What sort of history are you looking for ? We started in 2006. SAZ and SAX lines are made in Korea. New SAE line is made in China. Some woofers are built in the USA (Nightshade, Z series, old SD-1 series) some are built in China (SA series, E8s)

Pre-Order CLOSED. Amps due tomorrow.

The first pre-sale was so popular we sold out before the amps even arrived... so we are doing it again Same deal as last time around! $850 for one $825 for two (each) $810 for four or more (each) Paypal me at [email protected] to Pre-Order! OR Order on our cart system here : http://www.sundownaudio.com/presale/ The current ETA is around the end of August -- this is a rough estimate. As always, with a pre-order the ETA is subject to change based on shipping delays, etc, etc. PLEASE do not pre-order unless you are okay with any delays that may occur. They feature 33% more output FETs than the current 3000D... a quad transformer setup (more efficient)... and some other changes we made to enhance reliability vs. the SAZ-3000D. I am going to keep this thread cleaned up and on topic - please make a new post for questions not directly related to pre-ordered.

Our amps don't have them... most of the time they are not real measurements anyway, just random numbers.
-
Just put in the notes "For SAE-1200D v.2 Pre-Order"
-
You may simply be pushing it too hard -- simple as that. Most mono amps are Class-D and generate less heat as well.
-
Take a look at the heat-sink -- it stays quite cool as we added the internal fins to this model case as well.
-
1/0 power terminals and it needs them... it's powerful.

Just keep it away from vibration as much as possible, rubber feet would help.
